Alexei Ivanov had given her advice last time, the way that he saw it was that the former Fortree gym leader advised her that communication was important in a relationship. People were laying down their lives to save those who were trapped near the general medical facility areas, but she had to retreat along with her knight in order to recover from their injuries. Aside from that, there was the sinking feeling that she knows he hasn’t opened up with her over what was troubling him either.[break][break]

Which was why she’d meet with him at the garden around her father’s estate in Rustboro City.[break][break]

“How is your arm doing?” The Galarian princess asks the red-headed knight when he comes. Charles the Calyrex is a little content to look at the flowers, ones that were native to their country, bloom around the large space. “I was hoping that we can talk about what’s making you distant. After not being able to do the trick as proper from the surfing Mantine, Elise tries her hand at Clamperl Diving, an activity she had done last summer. Her Vaporeon jumps in the water after her and they’ll dive together to find one of the Clamperl in order to find a treasure. Mipha is the first to find a Clamperl and she brings it over to the ambassador. They swim up to the surface, happy to find something that she and her Vaporeon did together.[break][break]

“Let’s open it.” Elise smiles before she gets to opening the Clamperl along with the Vaporeon watching the clam Pokemon being opened.

An instructor has saddled Mantine ready for other people to try those tricks with them. Elise didn’t have her own, so Angus is happy to let her use one of the Mantine waiting in the ocean waters. Charles the Calyrex watches in awe as the ambassador mounts onto the saddled Mantine, she’s never had to ride one before. She figured that the Primarina Twist might be the one to try too.[break][break]

Over a low wave that comes over to her, she tries to front flip two times before flipping back to the Mantine’s wingspan. Since it was her first time doing it, the diplomat had a lot of fun with it![break][break]

When a wild Quaxly topples over one of the moats of the other sand castle, the duck Pokemon gets an upset look from the male Gible. Lubellion chases after the Quaxly in a fit of rage while the shiny Dhelmise and Shellos finish one of the palace’s gardens of sandy flowers. A Dragon Breath from the Gible would wash over the Quaxly as it fuels the anger the Gible feels from the sand castle almost being destroyed.[break][break]

And when the attack ends, the Quaxly is down on the ground. A sigh escapes from the lips of the Galarian princess and Elise tosses a Dusk Ball from her pack to capture the Quaxly too. Maybe she would need to teach the Gible on his anger issues.

The ambassador’s female secretary, a blonde woman who was in her early twenties and wore glasses, gives a nod over to the cleaner and his team. “I’ll direct you to her office, sir.” Lucia began to ensure that the man would follow her to the office where her boss worked, given that the office would be in the hallway of other offices filled by the embassy’s staff. Thankfully, it doesn’t take Lucia long for the secretary to stop by ambassador’s office and she opens the door. “Your Highness, Mr. Balor says that he is part of the cleaning crew and would like to meet with you.”[break][break]

When Lucia leaves to go back to her desk in the lobby, the purple-haired woman in her business suit looks up from penning at her paperwork. The shiny Polteageist and Sinistea, two constant companions that were servants of the embassy, look up from her desk too.[break][break]

“It is good to meet you, Mr. Balor.” Acting on the position of Galar’s royal ambassador, the princess is extremely formal and refined when she speaks. “I assume that you will need help on finding the other offices for your crew members to clean?”

Diana was right, people did grow and change over the years and Elise herself had grown up a bit after her stay in Hoenn for a year. “You are right, people do grow over the course of their life.” She probably could think that Remiel did change when she had seen him for the first time that she came to Hoenn. He appeared to be more happier in Hoenn than in Galar for sure, a change that was probably for his mood.[break][break]

Even if the prince was going to be set to become King at the encouragement of his mother.[break][break]

“Hoenn has treated me very well.” Elise begins to answer the Cavendish heiress’ question. “I am very happy that I was able to make friends with others than I couldn’t in Galar.”

The Gible looks at an approaching wild Capsakid while the Dhelmise and Shellos were helping to build another sand palace for the Gible to play in. The ambassador takes note of the wild grass type too since it was a Paldean Pokemon that she knew from other trainers raising those little ones. Before the ambassador could ask it to join in on making the sand palace with the shiny Dhelmise and East Sea Shellos, Lubellion the Gible began to attack the smaller Pokemon with a Bite down onto the small arms of the Capsakid.[break][break]

A bit upset by the declaration of war, the wild Capsakid attempts to attack the male Gible with a Razor Leaf though Lubellion is quick to dodge of the leaves’ way. With a Dragon Breath from the Gible knocking out the wild Capsakid, the royal ambassador sighs and tosses a Dusk Ball in an attempt to capture the downed wild grass type.

Out of most of the princess-y movies that Elise grew up with, this one really deconstructed most of the fairy tale tropes and ran with the Grimmsnarl being the main character. In some weird way, it was like she was watching Beauty and the Beast again, a favorite movie that also had the lesson of beauty being on the inside.[break][break]

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have called her by her species name when she’s named Pon.” The ambassador replies apologetically and smiles over to the green oni creature. “And I was hoping you’ll forgive me, Pon, for trying to take off the toxic chained mask. I was trying to be gentle about it, but I think you were scared of me.”[break][break]

While the movie scenes between the Grimmsnarl and the Hatterene were playing, Charles’ blue eyes appeare to be visibly lighting up at the two characters. “Rown…” This was all he could say in awe of the beauty that shone from the Hatterene.[break][break]

“He really likes the Matter of Galar series and I’m probably almost embarrassed to say this too, but he also likes the slice of life manga I read to him sometimes.” The Galarian princess gets a bit flustered since Charles had taken a liking to the ones imported from the Johto region. “I bought both volumes of Kimi ni Todoke and Komi-san, so that we can read together.”.

A nod came from the diplomat when Genny asks if Ecruteak was the one with the tower. “Yes, that’s the city with the Bell Tower. There used to be a second called the Brass Tower, but it was destroyed in a fire centuries before I was born and when one of my mother’s ancestors was working at the Bell Tower as the Head Priestess.” That was a good location to have fun with the Girlygang for a vacation for sure, Ecruteak was the most beautiful places that Elise had lived in for her life.[break][break]

While they were almost at the front of the line to the water slide, she replied back to her friend with a smile. “Thank you, I’ve been told that I work very well with the Ghost type Pokemon I raise.” Along with the Skiploom breaking out of its Pokeball, Vivian the Totodile breaks out of her Dusk Ball too in wanting to join in on sliding down with her trainer. “It looks like my Totodile really wanted to join in the water as well as Dandy.”[break][break]

This was the lesson that Cinderella learned in her tale. A wicked stepmother that couldn’t be won over with acts of kindness, no matter how hard Cinderella tried to appease the woman. In a strange way, it was the same with Elise’s relationship with her aunt. Someone who really envied that the younger Galarian princess was happier living in Hoenn than in Galar. [break][break]

While the Queen ended up alienating her younger brother away from her and didn’t make any connections with other people than the rest of her favored family.[break][break]

“Are you telling me that my aunt would rather die than to speak with me at all?” Elise asks though she doesn’t doubt that the Queen would rather do that than to interact with her hated and despised niece. “I don’t blame her if she would. She doesn’t love me in the same way that my late uncle did because I did not fit her image of belonging in the Calcifet family’s cutthroat nature.”[break][break]

Elise was the nicest, purest soul in the middle of a family that really valued their own power than to be kinder to others.[break][break]

“I am different than her in some ways.” She gives a small chuckle, almost if the irony of it was that the Queen was a bitter woman who pushed people away while her niece, the princess of Galar, made friends over time. “Because all I desired was to make friends with other people without worrying about other people being intimidated by my royal bearing.”

Thankfully, the ambassador did manage to score well on her Kalosian dish, so this round had Paldean food to make. From what she knew of the country’s cuisine, there were many foods that could be a good way to impress the judges. Her bulbous headed companion looks over the counter while Elise started to bring out several cold tortillas to toast as the diplomat prepared to cut up chicken pieces from the chicken breast after she cooks the chicken breast in an iron skillet, covered in canola oil.[break][break]

Charles helps with bringing the lime wedges, pico de gallo, and the avocado pieces from a little basket. “Thank you, Charles.” A smile comes upon the young purple-haired woman’s face and she’ll take out the tortillas since they’re all toasted and warm. Together, the princess and her hare king work together in placing the chicken first in the tortillas and then the other ingredients like the pico de gallo, avocado pieces, and the lime wedges. [break][break]

With guacamole sauce as a condiment inside the tacos, they were all placed on each plate for the judges. “Here you go.” Elise sets aside a plate of the chicken taco for the Calyrex shard to eat while she gives the plates of her chicken tacos over to the judges too. “It’s an easier recipe than my last. Chicken tacos are my favorite when I get Paldean takeout at the taco place as well.”[break][break]
