While navigating the streets he's able to get a sense of the surrounding businesses, and how many eyes are out there watching.[break][break]

It's expected they'll be able to finish up without a hitch. They've got a solid cover operation, and nobody should be suspicious of an overabundance of eggs, but it never hurt to be cautious. At least not that he'd ever known it to.[break][break]

Adrian can only hope not to be misunderstood; he hopes to gain an idea of whether they feel the op is already compromised. Any signs of outside surveillance, one passersby too many with a lingering gaze; that is what he is asking after. But in the event the network is being monitored by an algorithm, he avoids any key words he thinks might set off some spook's software...[break][break]

Arriving at the rear end of the building's truck depot, he manages to spot Jayden. Finishing the last drag of a cigarette and flicking it into the gravel, he stamps it out with his heel, grinding his foot against the loose gravel before making his way over to them.[break][break]

"So, is everything ready here?"[break][break]

Adrian does not concern himself with the meticulous planning and execution because of any professionalism, but rather a vested interest in keeping up his public image. Whether Jayden noticed anything will ultimately determine whether he feels comfortable carrying on with the op, but that wasn't to say he really had a choice.[break][break]

The Magby at his side is restless, though it keeps close to Adrian. While it hasn't exactly been trained, it has grown to place great trust in him as a trainer. It kept itself closeby, and he could feel the heat radiating off its flame body.

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]Although Adrian already owned several Bronzor, there was something redeemable in that stoic expression, its unwavering physical fortitude. After mulling it over for a moment, Adrian decides it's an interesting opportunity to try out battling with an Unown. After singling out the pokeball he sends out Unown-M, and the battle begins.[break][break]

Adrian quickly comes to understand that the Unown is not capable of any complex thought, at least not on the surface, and simply attacks using strange magicks. But it has a natural aversion to other pokemon, evading them swiftly, and proves itself at least generally adept at battling. Perhaps this is due to the persisting dark aura that Adrian exudes, but he could not know that.[break][break]

In the end they are victorious, though the battle did not satisfy his hopes, and he reluctantly takes a pokeball from out his satchel and captures the defeated Bronzor.

While they converse she takes an apprehensive approach to the poffin, eventually tearing away a greater portion of it, grinding it slowly between her teeth while she acclimated. He could feel a low rumbling leaning against her ribs as she savored the treat. Thumping his palm against her side with a hollow sound, he gave her a playful pat, which she didn't seem to mind.[break][break]

They enjoyed precious few moments like these, sparse as they were.[break][break]

While they convalesce with Howitzer, Adrian is sharp enough to notice the Pidgeot taken wing, availing its trainer to their spot on the summit. He would know soon that it carried his sister Serena upon its back; casually he would wave towards them all as she dismounted, allowing the scene to speak for itself. She offered an apology, but of course there was none needed. "Nevermind that..."[break][break]

And then she saw what had brought them all together.[break][break]

Howitzer's tail whipped up from its drooping state, fanning against Adrian's back as it recollected another familial bond. Thinking back, if their timelines were nearly identical, she must not have seen Serena since they were last home in Sinnoh. It must've been like seeing a childhood friend, all grown up. A hearty bark escapes her, though she does not stir from her spot, an impulse she was actively keeping in check. While at first one might assume she remained at rest so as not to disturb those lying against her, Adrian felt it was apprehension.[break][break]

Howitzer was still experiencing a sort of reverse impostor syndrome. These were not the same people, the same flesh. But he liked to think they shared a soul. They would reach her slowly, over time, at whatever pace suited Howitzer...[break][break]

"It's really her, just not how you'd think..." It wasn't a tale he wanted to repeat over and over, and so he'd intended to bring them together into their fold, and share with them the full accounting of how she came to be at his side again.[break][break]

These pokemon had been harnessed, exploited in ways that trainers from their world couldn't yet hope to achieve. On the surface they were simple pokemon, yet they operated on a mysterious paradigm. And until they learned something of how they operated, and how to influence their actions beyond ordering the attack or making blind requests, they would never know the principles of how their abilities functioned; or how the hive mind ticked.[break][break]

"Either I learn something, or I get to see one more of the worldly wonders before everything's returned to dust." Adrian wasn't exactly the image of optimism, but he wasn't being genuine with the ambiguity of his visit. Adrian intended to try and find something that would help their cause, and should he find nothing more than dusty scripture, it would surely dampen his spirits.[break][break]

"I consider it a win-win situation." Either he found something that'd help, or he could say he got to enjoy the time he was given. And in a bizarre third case scenario where the Unown abducted him into their strange realm, as had been reported during previous explorations, then maybe he'd survive the craziness that was to come.

It was mostly just pleasantries, but it was nice to meet an avid rocker in Hoenn. Lately he'd been feeling like it was a dying genre, and he'd need to adapt, but maybe now he could stick to his passions. At the end of the day that's what it should be about; anyone could mouth the words, but most people would still follow the money. Maybe now he wouldn't need to compromise.[break][break]

"That's fair, I'm not big on coffee either." Adrian just wanted to know if he was drinking mud, or something pleasant. He could always just order a cocoa or something, if he felt parched. For now he'd try and focus on the reason for their little pow wow, at least until a barista came and asked him if he needed anything.[break][break]

"Don't mention it." Whether Callan realize it or not, he'd been looking for an opportunity not unlike this. Funny how these sorts of things tend to fall right into his lap, as if dictated by some worldly force; most people would just call it fate. While Callan begins to iterate on his idea for them, Adrian's intense focus is hard to distinguish from a resting scowl, but he's genuinely invested in the conversation and intrigued by their earnest nature.[break][break]

Though, he's caught off guard by Callan's praising tone.[break][break]

"Listen man, I appreciate you giving me my laurels, but dial it back a bit," not that he wasn't flattered, but it just felt wrong somehow. He couldn't be quite certain whether the compliments were authentic, or if Callan was trying to honeydick him. In either event, it was a little embarrassing, though he certainly wanted to believe what he was hearing. "Let's keep ourselves grounded..."[break][break]

Adrian's chewing on the inside of his cheek anxiously without realizing it, while Callan continues to prove his determination to work with him on this. It's encouraging behavior for a first meeting, but life often teaches you to sniff out anything that sounds too good to be true. His eyes narrow with a signature skepticism, though he has no tangible evidence to suggest they aren't.[break][break]

"I'm a fan of how you shred with those strings. I came here to let ya know I was interested, but I don't want you thinkin' we should jump straight into it. Ya hardly know me, and I hardly know you." Not that Adrian was overly concerned with finding Callan anything but likable; it was hard not to get along with him, as long as you weren't belligerent. But if Callan really got to know him, there would be some obvious red flags, assuming he wasn't cool with most of his... consumer habits. And all that was strictly non-negotiable.[break][break]

Either he was cool with it, or it was a dealbreaker.[break][break]

"But it's a real tough industry to break into, and taking a bite out of it big enough to matter..." Callan would be able to follow where he was leading, as he forced a smile and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't see it happening. But I wanna give it an honest go, and I think you do, too. So we might as well shoot our shot, right?" Adrian extended a balled fist for a bump of the knuckles.[break][break]

Tentatively, he accepted their offer.

For someone who'd gotten used to Hoenn's eventfulness, it was almost disappointing, but there were interests that he could now afford the time to pursue.
