The university where the professor taught had agreed to host his studies on the condition that he attribute any of his findings to the institution in part. Having set up a humble research tent on the wide expanse of green grass at the center of campus, the professor sent the call out to his volunteers in the early hours of daylight. The first to arrive, naturally, was the ambassador himself: Remiel Calcifet.[break][break]

Punctual and well-dressed as always, Remiel summoned Blanche, his towering Aurorus. The unique fusion of rock and ice that the prehistoric clone was compromised of proved to be rather interesting to the professor that examined it. A cold mist seemed to continually disperse from the dinosaur's sail. This seemed to function as an air conditioner, of sorts. It helped keep her rock-like scales hardened and frozen.[break][break]

"Fossil pokémon are little more than diluted clones of the original creatures that once roamed this earth. Simply put, you're examining a mutant of science. But as I understand it, you care little for the authenticity of a pokémon and more about the delicate balance between differing elements, is that correct?" The prince inquired, arms crossed over his chest as he observed.[break]

A chance to help teach a lecture was a prime opportunity for Josh to learn how to teach these things to his own children when they were a little bit older. This lecture though, was an interesting case. Going over Pokemon with duel types, that had weaknesses to each other? That wasn't something he heard talked about everyday. Regardless, he sent out his Swampert.

"Despite being part Ground Type, Swampert suffers no ill effects when subjected to water. In fact, on top of its Water typing, it's considered to be a very strong swimmer. It isn't impeded at all in the water" he brought up curtly. Swampert was an interesting Pokemon, but it had made for a very useful and reliable member of his team over the years.

With every kick of its legs, the Pokemon remains suspended in mid-air, as if swimming through the sky without the slightest regard to gravity. "For classification, we've marked this Pokemon as both a Grass type and a Flying type. We know very little about it but have yet to come across evidence that proves otherwise."

Fernando's eyes narrow but his smile remains. He looks around the small tent before back at the professor. "I presume your research will be made available as well. I'll have someone send a formal request for a copy — consider us even."

Chryssa sat demurely in one of the waiting chairs, hands folded delicately in her lap. In front of her, a heavyset, mildly sick-looking Slowbro with a spiked shell affixed to one hand was waiting on its stumpy haunches to be examined.

“In elementary school, they taught us that Poison was weak to Psychic,” the teen said casually to whoever was next to her, wrapping a strand of long brown hair around one finger. “We had a little rhyme: poison worsens over time, but it’s no match for strength of mind. It’s cute, isn’t it?”

Her fingers curled around the head of her cane, toying with the tassel as her turn finally came. “This creature is only able to survive Shellder’s toxins in the first place because of its Psychic resistance, right?” Galarian Slowpoke was reportedly psychic-type rather than water-type. It made Chryssa wonder, fiendishly, what happened to normal Slowpoke who suffered the misfortune to be bitten somewhere besides their tail. “A lucky combination.”

She settled back again with a distant smile, letting the professor examine the creature. She was even more interested in the Galarian Slowking she thought she’d seen another volunteer bringing in, which seemed to have gone one step further and taken on an almost parasitic relationship. Even strength of mind can’t keep the poison away forever…

One of the many perks that Katherine seemed to enjoy was how accessible certain things became after her promotion. Her Sableye, Amethyst, appreciated it too. After all, receiving a steady supply of Carbink made it so her gem-ghoul no longer needed to hunt for food inside distant caves.

She never asked how these rock-types were captured or by whom, she was simply thankful for the supply she’d received.

A glowing, azure chunk of a gem is tossed down for Amethyst to capture, who ravenously begins to feast upon the rock. It keeps the ghost-type busy for now. ”I don’t need to tell you much about this species, do I?” After all, they were native to Hoenn. Her dual-type, Sableye, had a unique typing but an even rarer diet.

“Mine only finds nourishment in very specific rocks, if that matters to your research.”

Easy money for having a pokemon with affinities for types in opposition? How could Adrian say no?

There's not much for Adrian to do but sign up his pokemon and make sure to bring it the day of. While talking with the professor it seems clear they're more interested in their studies than with conversation, so Adrian quickly excuses himself.

"You'll be okay, right buddy?" Snover shrugs.

Without Adrian around the professor is free to instruct and observe the pokemon at their discretion. Meanwhile Adrian goes out for lunch.

[attr="class","athread"] This was certainly a unique job to be sent on, but it seemed Prince had no objections to the matter. Then again, it didn't seem like he had much of an opinion at all. He seemed only delighted to show himself off, in a bit of an unnerving manner. As soon as it was summoned, it even began to spread a Curious Medicine from its own shell, with the strange potions removing any negative debuffs, or even potentially positive buffs, completely neutralizing just about everything.

Regardless, it would be readily apparent to the Pokemon professor that unlike the Kanto Slowking, this one from Galar had the Shellder in control with its eyes completely covering the Slowking's from beneath. The intense combination of incredible intelligence, poisonous secretions, and psychic presence resulted in a very perplexing pokemon.

Even as he stood there and muttered spells softly to himself, he seemed to already be working on a few more potions to be eagerly shared, perhaps even uncomfortably so. His psychic abilities seemed to appear almost like magic, An Eerie Spell, even. Regardless, there was no knowing what was going on inside its brains. Nobody has been able to even translate the chanting, but perhaps it was better if nobody ever did.

In fact, one could swear that it even would laugh quietly to itself the moment nobody was looking.

"Shit!" The former pro gamer burst through the tent's opening. Her body nearly crumbled to the floor as she held up her hand, requesting a few minutes to catch her breath. "Ah! I'm so sorry I'm late. The game ended up lasting longer than expected because each team kept throwing and-" A harsh glare from the professor silenced her rushed ramblings. Instinctively, her nose crinkled as she looked around the room. Unlike her peers, Gigi was very underdressed.

Ugh. Albeit not actually inside of it, seeing the university was enough to evoke memories of her school years. Ew. Her eyes scanned the crowd of students that had gathered, interested in the study. Gigi bit her tongue as she mulled over her words for a second. "School is a waste of time and money so just get your GED." Thankfully, her loud mouth managed to keep these words to herself.

Eager to be finished, Gigi summoned her Klefki. The small ring of keys happily accepted her trainer's extended hand, plopping her small body into the outstretched palm. "Little Klefki here," Gigi chuckled as the Pokemon jubilantly rang her keys against one another. "Klefki is a steel and fairy type."

"As right now, fairy are fairly newer than the other types out there." Arceus, this was awkward. Way too many people were looking at her (not to mention the daggers being sent her way by the professor). "Steel has been found to be super-effective against fairy types; like in the old fairy tales where some fae and other mythical creatures could only be injured by silver."

"However, unlike those fables, Klefki is only damaged normally by steel type attacks while still being resistant to fairy type attacks." Uh.. was that it? Or, rather, was that enough? Gigi looked to the professor whose stern face hadn't budged an inch. So.. was that a sign she was finished? "But, uh, yeah! If anyone needs further explanation you can follow me at--"

The professor cut her off before she could fully grasp the opportunity to advertise herself, "Thank you, Ms. Bae. That will be all." Geez, what a killjoy. Oh well. She couldn't say she was upset. The sooner she got out of here the better.
