With a strong flutter of wings, Major takes to the breeze and isn’t gone a few seconds until he’s breaking through the canopy of Fortree City to the skies above. [break][break]

Smoke begins to pour from the tiny gadget attached to his leg, leaving a streak of cloud to trail after his flight path not unlike a plane vapour trail. Then, suddenly, there’s multiple lines being traced in the blue canvas; the fighter jet squadron of Swellow crafted from DOUBLE TEAM emboldening the message in the sky. [break][break]

Bird fluttered in bursts and dips before settling on a power line above the crowded square. She flipped her wings smartly, studying the group of people below with black, bright eyes. Some were eating, sitting at cafe tables. Others were in motion, moving down the sidewalks and across intersections with the single-minded focus that came from routine.

A gasket of yellow smoke was affixed to one of her legs, and the Starly pecked at it to make sure it was secure before proceeding. Tensing her body, she launched from the power line and into the air, beating her wings for altitude. While larger, more powerful birds were hired to trace out longer messages, her own was simple, and around the tenth-story level, she pulled the pin.

As smoke issued from her leg, she drew an arc and used DOUBLE TEAM. Ten more Starly, each trailing yellow smoke, flashed into sight around her, as if she was at the center of a giant kaleidoscope. People turned their heads upward in surprise, gaping as each bird drew a straight line in the air, connecting with one another until a giant yellow star burst overhead, advertising the Hoenn Star Tournament.

Big Habanero couldn't fly.
Neither Mario nor River possessed the knowledge, evolutionary drive, or even the wings necessary to take to the sky. They couldn't glide. They couldn't hover. Hell, they could hardly even drive.

But if there was one thing that Big Habanero could do, it was jump. And run. And honk and make a lot of noise. Big Habanero could do three things.

"What the heck is that?" Asked one of the Fortree residents. He stopped sweeping ash for a minute to watch the glorious, fluttering figure jump from rooftop to rooftop.

"HONK! HOooOoNK!" honked Big Habanero. The duo took a quick two steps and kicked off the roof, one leg back and one optimistically forward, as the pair leapt the width of the street, landing on the opposite rooftop with the plap plap of birdy feet on a flat surface.

Big Habanero jumped the width of the street again, trailing a massive advertising banner behind them like a hero's cape. They jumped again, and people started to point and talk.

"It's not a bird, is it?"
"It looks really plain."
"Is it advertising something?"

Big Habanero skidded to a halt, spinning around in a flurry of red fabric. They clung to the edge of the roof and let out another triumphant honk, attracting the attention of citizens from the street below. Like a town crier of yesteryear, the bored people stopped to watch and listen.

"HOoooNK! HOOoONK!" advertised the bird, and with a quick crouch and explosion of kicking energy they launched themselves high into the air, the banner trailing legibly behind them.

DON'T DRINK ZAPSI! IT'S FOR THE BIRDS!

A free chance to advertise?

Oh, this was a chance nobody would pass up.

So obviously, the Braviary was sent out to handle this—

Although, what in the ever-loving hell were they going to advertise?!

Seeing as there were many advertisements for the current event down at Slateport, along with so many endless promotions for Charja-cola, the Braviary was then left to wonder—why not bring some ‘hometown charm’ to this entire thing?

A reminder that a certain place existed…

Once it had been decided, they then sent the ever-faithful Braviary airborne with a banner that unfurled to promote the Fortree Rescue and Treatment Sanctuary—as a place where anyone was free to volunteer at, and to bring any injured Pokémon they might find out in the wilds.

Sure, it was incredibly cheesy, but there was nothing else to it…

internally, z scoffed at the audacity of his trainer. to question his ability to perform a task? it was nonsense; insulting, even. he was the apex predator. a bird without equal. there was none more suited to this task than himself.

he took to the skies, the mid-day light glinting marvelously off of his bladed feathers. he couldn't help but caw in apprecitation of his preeminence. even now, the two-legged creatures beneath him were basking in his presence — his awe-striking majesty.

such a thing would've brought a tear to his eye, if he wasn't an alpha-born creature. lesser beings shouldn't see him cry, lest they think him weak. a mistake on their part, of course. but he did not appreciate insults to his good name.

Okay, okay… Ready for the most surprising, shocking, and amazing turn of events of the century?! Listen here! Turns out that 470 lbs, 7 foot tall, orange poké-bro over here wasn’t a bird pokémon! Can you believe it?! He had tiny tiny wings. But, if all-trusty Poképedia is to be believed, he could fly faster than the speed of sound with those things!

Now, he was heckin’ proud of it too, and it was with whatever-the-dragon-equivalent-for-a-scoff was that he took the small smoke machine necessary for this job that his idiot of a trainer was making him do. Someone had to pay the bills, after all, and apparently that was all on Dragonite. Leave it to the dragon to do all the hard work! Typical!

With a powerful jump, embarrassingly-named Pez (which totally wouldn’t have been his name if he had had a say) took to the skies, aiming to get this job done with the awesomeness, speed, and suave that only a dragon could pull off. Here we go!

Cumu-Cumu yawned as she floated along, using the downy cloud puffs of her Cotton Guard to spell the message given to her. Down below, her trainer signaled for her to get a move one with wide gestures. They looked like a very silly Durant from up here.

She really couldn’t see the rush. Though the first few letters were already starting to break apart, the Altaria was in no hurry to finish the job. The summer sun felt good on her back, with just enough of a breeze to keep the temperature comfortable, and it was a relief to finally start shedding some of the extra down from her body.

Why, it was so relaxing up here, she could just…fall…a…slee…

On the ground, Locke sighed and summoned his Drampa. Better give up and retrieve the Altaria now, before she drifted somewhere dangerous.
