Flowers and hearts decorate the amphitheatre, but don’t let all the shades of pink fool you: this is no Cute Contest. Or, is it? [break][break] ”Welcome to our first annual ♥ Love Contest, proudly brought to you by Piazza Oro Grande Bank!” The presenter standing on the grand stage is, of course, no other than Martín del Mar – dressed to impress and with a pair of Meowth by his side. ”With Valentine’s Day being right around the corner, we’re gathered here to answer two important questions: ’What is love?’ and ’Who has the loveliest couple of pokémon in all of Hoenn?!’” The crowd cheers, and after the other judges are introduced, the last of them proceeds to read the contest's rules… [break][break]  [break][break][break][break] HOW THIS CONTEST WORKS [break][break] This contest functions a bit differently from others, so please pay close attention to the rules before you sign up. [break][break] PAIRS - Yes, you read that right. Each character should sign up with two pokémon they wish to participate with – preferably ones they already see as a pair ICly. This contest is all about love, so keep that in mind when choosing your pairs. [break][break] CONDITION - Love can come in many different forms, and to represent that, this contest doesn’t focus on one specific condition! Instead, each round will centre around a condition with excitement, indifference, and discontent applying based on the in-game chart. Move conditions will be determined according to the Contest Spectacular, unless they’re being used as part of a previous gen combination. [break][break] MOVES - Each pokémon can use one move per round (meaning you can use two in total). You can use any move as long as it’s in your pokémon’s Gen VII-VIII learnset, even if it's not part of their current moveset. Despite Contest Conditions being of importance, a move’s appeal and jamming effect won’t matter all that much. Scores will depend more on using moves creatively and in a way that fits the theme of the round. Please refrain from using moves introduced in Gen VIII, since they don’t have contest conditions. [break][break] COMBINATIONS - Since this is all about pairs, combinations do matter! A combination doesn’t need to be split between two rounds, instead, if each of your pokémon uses a combination move in the proper order, they can have it happen in the same round! All Contest Combinations can be used, regardless from which generation. [break][break] THEMES - Aside from being centereed around a condition, each of the FIVE ROUNDS will have a theme. Themes will be things like talent, elegance, etc. and will be kept secret until the beginning of each round. [break][break] THE POSTS - Each contestant must post once per round to make their appeal. Above all else, this contest is about having a good time with writing about your character’s contest performance. How the performance is described matters, as well as the interactions between the pair, and between trainer and pokémon. Feel free to be as creative as you like! There’s a WORD CAP OF 400 WORDS. [break][break] THE RIBBON - While this contest features all conditions, the winner will receive a CUTE CONTEST RIBBON and be added to the CUTE CONTEST WINNER LIST.
