WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

WELCOME TO THE FLEUR TEA ATELIER a sophisticated tea house of many stories. Although the lower floors feature spaces for enjoying specialty teas and fanciful pastries, the upper floors are dedicated to battling. After all, being this close to Hoenn's Pokemon League means you are within a diverse community of formidable trainers.[break][break]

After some time conversing and enjoying the service, the maître d'hôtel arrives in a smart suit. A Mr. Mime wheels in a fanciful room service trolley beside him. On top of the trolley, is a large cloche. "you are all signed up for the tiered tea room challenge, yes? what is your team's name?" [break][break]

He pulls out a notepad and pen, expecting an answer. Afterward, he asks his Mr. Mime to reveal the contents underneath the cloche. Several items for your Pokemon to equip are revealed.

After selections are made (or not made), he directs you all to wooden staircase. "bon courage! i heard the first battle has SHAKEN TRAINERS UP." He offers a hint with a smile.[break]

So it has become recent news that he in fact likes sweets. Who knew? Certainly not him seeing how he hasn't had sweets in years and now Eris Halla wanted to come here. Then the fun times of meeting up with Remiel Calcifet and some girl he doesn't recognize, luka chêne. [Break][break]

Seeing how the couple had dressed up Razz got pulled along in getting a costume as well for the little tearoom. Equiped with bunny ears as weird as they were. Though he wasn't expecting the battle portion of this that the other avatar signed them all up for. [Break][break]

"Uhhh you guys can pick whatever name" the half blind man mutters before the waiter offers items. Out of curiosity he picks the MENTAL HERB.[break][break]

The TEA HOUSE aesthetic is a setting the PRINCE OF GALAR is all too familiar with. His BUTLER SINISTEA, too, glides about cheerily before their attendant arrives with a Mr. Mime in tow. EARL GREY is the first to issue a polite bow, followed by his master shortly thereafter.

In response to Razz Kingsman 's inquiry, however, Remiel shrugs. He's supposed they've already come up with a theme, considering the purple cat ears and wacky pin-striped bow tie he's wearing. So he turns to luka chêne and Eris Halla , casting them both a short nod. "Team Wonderland, was it? Or some other variation?"

Meanwhile, the royal steps forward and plucks an AIR BALLOON from the edge of the tray.

Reiner sighs, gently intertwining his tail with her left arm as he acts as a failsafe for her tomfoolery.

Luka arrives in high spirits, holding onto Remiel Calcifet's arm as she practically skips into the room. In her hand is the last bits of a shortbread cookie that she quickly polishes off, though a bit of decorative sugar clings to her bottom lip.[break][break]

She's just as excited as Eris Halla to be dressing up, her own costume a sweet array of frills and ribbons, baby blue against a stark white pinafore. Even her boyfriend has fallen victim to her enthusiasm, though to his credit he'd accepted his catboy fate with some dignity intact.[break][break]

"My goodness, your dress is amazing! You look perfect," Luka gushes, unwinding herself from Remiel so she can coo over Eris' dress. She fusses over the girl's hair and straightens a ribbon, then steps back with a wink. "Yep! Absolutely perfect."[break][break]

It always makes her glad to see the younger girl having fun, as a child should. Luka flashes her another smile before turning to Razz Kingsman, the only member of their party that she's not acquainted with. "Hello! Sorry, um, I'm Luka! It's nice to meet you! Your ears look very nice."[break][break]

When the tray is presented, she remembers why they're here— battling, not a cosplay convention. But like, why can't it be both? It should totally be both.[break][break]

"You'll help me out if I need it, right?" Luka whispers to Remiel when the other two are distracted. Though she's starting to find her legs as a trainer, Luka still isn't the best when it comes to strategizing. As if to exemplify this, when it's her turn she picks a Mental Herb from the items provided...because it's the prettiest.[break][break]

WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

ON THE FIRST CHALLENGE FLOOR, a MAN DRESSED IN DRACONID COSPLAY beats his chest and stomps the ground. Beside him, a Flygon stomps too. Its wings beat quickly in excitement and from its intense flapping, the sound akin to that of a woman's voice singing can be heard.[break][break]

The Draconid Cosplayer shouts, fingers still grasping the fabric across his chest, "did you know?! the draconid people helped lead those lost in sandstorms by their unique flygon wing-songs. the melody's been lost to this day." His Flygon stops flapping its rhombus wings and lands closer to the main area. "ok enough geeking out. avoid my fly-baby's EARTHQUAKE without using PROTECTION MOVES. face it fearlessly like the draconids did with all threats!"[break][break]

The Flygon screeches and rocks the floor. An EARTHQUAKE moves toward your Pokemon. Do not worry, the floor and surrounding infrastructure is designed to absorb most of the shock for the patrons below.[break][break]

In the middle of the room's flooring, an inscription is written:[break]
"Once there were four.[break]
And one looked upon time's steady pace.[break]
And one looked upon the expanse of space.[break]
And one looked through its pane,[break]

Unlike the other two his enthusiasm isn't as high as the ladies in their team. Maybe he just didn't understand the fun of 'dress up' but he still gives a nod of appreciation to the other as she compliments the ears. "Thanks Eris picked them out, much easier to have her choose this kind of stuff," he gives a shrug as most of his clothing came from good-will stores. "And nice to meet you, I'm Razz Kingsman, soooo.... how long have you two been together...?" he tries to attempt small talk before another entered the room. [break][break]

Thank god. [break][break]

Though his over the top acting was meh at best, but at least this puzzle was simple. Salem looks excited to try but seeing as he didn't choose the proper item Razz calls for his FLYING TYPE pokemon Cyan the NOIBAT to easily get across and avoid the attack. Using it's TELEPATHY to inform it's trainer of the passage it was seeing.[break][break]

"Well, I think you look great in them! Eris did a good job. I'm sure we'll all get along well!" A sunshine smile colors her features, as does a slight flush at Razz Kingsman's follow up question. "Oh! Erm...a-a few months now? Gosh, time really flies..."[break][break]

Mere moments after their brief commiseration (and whatever conversation had occurred in the interim), the group is faced with their first challenge. "I like your costume, Monsieur!" Luka shouts from across the room. "I'm glad somebody else dressed up too!"[break][break]

Luckily, the challenge is easy enough that even she can figure it out. With the flick of her wrist, a Love Ball bursts open to reveal Luka's shiny Rotom, Sour Drop.[break][break]

Her Rotom doesn't face the Earthquake 'fearlessly like the draconids did with all threats!' Instead, the little blob of pink plasma simply hovers in the air, unharmed. An electric grin spreads from cheek to cheek. Luka, however, is not as immune. As the floor begins to shake she squeaks and grabs onto Remiel Calcifet's arm, then holds out a hand for Eris Halla to grab, should she need it.[break][break]

The strange writing on the floor doesn't go unnoticed either. However, it's difficult to make out while the floor trembles. Immune to the Earthquake attack, Sour Drop zips to Luka's phone, possesses it, and hovers over it to take a photograph of the poem.[break][break]

Remiel narrows his sharp hues of blue on the Draconid cosplayer. The information he had to share wasn't entirely new to him. But his interpretation of it was still of great interest. Naturally, as an archaeologist and Dragon-type specialist, it piqued the prince's curiosity.

He supposed being dubbed the CHESHIRE CAT was appropriate after all. Especially as Earl Grey ties the AIR BALLOON to its handle and lowers itself down for his master to grasp with two fingers. "Need a lift, darling?" He asks of his beau. With the item, and a little ghostly manipulation, the three (including luka chêne on Remiel's arm) float into the air with Earl as the ground below them violently shakes.

Afterwards, some time is granted towards inspecting the poem below. The balloon pops once they safely descend.

To remain blissfully oblivious to the relationships between others... Now that she knew, there would be no way she'd let them live peacefully ever again! But for now she has to play nice, or they'll never get through these challenges in time. When they enter the room, her gut instincts immediately begin screaming danger.

Perhaps, it's because of the man yelling in the middle of the room or perhaps, she's just used to expecting the worst in any situation. Either way, she immediately calls upon her Salamence, climbing up on his back as he takes to the skies. The flap of his wings produce a strong gust of wind, his fangs bared at the Flygon as his tail whips from side to side. In the meantime, Eris pulls out a device and zooms in on the poem inscribed, squinting slightly as her nose wrinkles in disgust.

YOU HAVE SUCCEEDED AND ARE USHERED TO THE SECOND FLOOR. Shards of sand crunch underneath your shoes upon entry. Ahead, a vast pit of golden sand awaits. In its center, a Diggersby paws its micro desert idly before standing to attention upon noticing all of you enter.[break][break]

Its trainer—perhaps an off-duty construction worker—stops brushing the sandy floor with his broom. He calls out to the team: "in the primal age, groudon fought kyogre over this land's bountiful natural energy. deep inside this earth, there must be more, dont'cha think?" The construction worker claps his broad hands. Sand mists the air around his palms. "can you land a hit on my diggersby? he'll DIG pretty deep!"[break][break]

Around the room, an inscription is written:[break]

though they walk with an almighty god.[break]

”Uhh yeah… get along,” he repeats awkwardly because his social skills have room for improvement. Though he does shoot Eris a look at her question, ”You can’t just ask people why they were kissing Eris,” he comments because there were just times where you didn’t want answers to certain questions. [break][break]

Thankfully they’re moved to the next room and brought with a different challenge with a cooler demeanor. Another simple one thankfully, Razz recalls his Noibat before calling out his tyrunt. The dino hopping as he was excited to be playing in the sand, though thankfully a double whistle still got his attention to do as told. Duncan using EARTHQUAKE to attack the opponent underground.[break][break]

"E-eh? Oh, gosh, umm... Luka can't really fault Eris Halla for pointing it out, especially when she and Remiel Calcifet are embracing in midair, hovering Mary-Poppins style from Earl Grey's air balloon. What an infuriatingly mushy couple.[break][break]

But eventually they land and move on to the next room, where they're met with another puzzle and a rather cryptic statement. The primal age...she's reminded of the painting of the supposed Hoenn Primordial Sea she'd seen in an art gallery months ago.[break][break]

Though Sour Drop can no longer take a picture of the poem for her, Luka zooms in to try and snap a shot. It's not as good, but it'll suffice for now. She wants to puzzle over the meaning, but there's a far more pressing challenge ahead.[break][break]

How to hit a Pokemon that's underground? Frankly, Luka has no clue. She purses her lips and grinds her heel against the ground, remembering how it had felt as it trembled just minutes before.[break][break]

Oh...but that was it, wasn't it!? Luka grins and releases her Torterra next, the giant turtle relieved from his very stressful duties of sleeping in her garden for a day. Pistachio lets out a low rumble as he steps forwards, and Luka uses the previous round as inspiration (as well as watching Razz Kingsman do it first) when she instructs him to use Earthquake to strike the underground Pokemon.[break][break]

The floor shakes again and she stumbles backwards in a flurry of ruffles and swishing skirts. She probably should have worn more sensible shoes...[break][break]

Razz's look is returned by one of her own, but a small nudge from Reiner signifies that she should probably leave the topic where it stands. Instead, he has to pull a pokeball from her little pouch, tossing it out as barking at the little, pink Wooper that pops out. Lyra hops, wagging her tail and giving one loud 'whoop' before thumping her feet against the ground.

An Earthquake rumbles to match the rest, the shaking causing Eris to trip a little over Reiner as he splays his feet to gain his balance. It's when the shaking ceases that she's allowed a chance to peek at the poem, her smile dulling just a little as she rolls her shoulders back and breathes out.

It's almost as if Father Winter were here all over again, watching her every move.

Eris and Razz's interest in his relationship with Luka is... odd. He never imagined they'd be having this talk, much less here. Remiel kept his private life exceedingly private to all but a few, after all. Though he supposed Luka had rubbed off on him considerably, and their carefree admirations had gone noticed as a result.

Maybe it's unfair that he lets his belle handle all the inquiries. But she's pretty adept at answering him, he thinks with a smile.

They are escorted to the next floor, where they are then presented with a construction worker and his Diggersby. Remiel registers the poem around the room in his memory for a moment before the challenge begins, prompting him to summon a DOUBLADE: the spirit of his ancestor TALIYAH CALCIFET. Her pair of possessed eyes see through all, even despite the Diggesby's efforts (NO GUARD).

With little more than a wave of his hand, he prompts Taliyah to summon a sacred power (SACRED SWORD) before twirling into the air and stabbing herself (and her twin blades) at exactly the right spot. A muffled cry resounds down below. Her precision is legendary.
