WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

YOU MAKE IT TO THE TENTH CHALLENGE. There, an older lady stands tall— but she seems fragile in presence. Tired, perhaps. Wizened by experience unseen. The room is brighter than the others, but still dimly lit. Windows have their curtains closed, but the sunlight from outside sneaks in periodically in small claw-like shafts.[break][break]

"welcome to your final challenge." She does not betray her name, but the elegant manner in which she conducts herself may reveal that her station is a privileged one. "when almost all light is reflected, you see white... in the absence of reflected light, you see black... true white and black is almost impossible to witness, unless one comes across the purest of sunlight or the depths of a black hole. i wonder if pokemon types function in similar fashions?"[break][break]

The lady takes a careful step forward before underhand tossing her pokeball. From the red beam, an UNOWN-A emerges. Her other hand procures a FIGY BERRY. The keenest of eyes may witness it glitch ever so briefly. Once. As if tampered with by the threads of time.[break][break]

"you may require one of these to fulfill your task..." The lady says. "do not worry... the effects of this berry are temporary." She goes on to explain the challenge. "my unown will strike with a hidden power... and it will find your pokemon's weakness."

NOTE: this is the final challenge.

Their final trial and in a room with a bit more light, thank Arceus. The woman issuing the challenge looked unwell, nearly exhausted. Xander almost asked if she was okay but stopped himself, her long-winded speech a hint that she'd be fine. [break][break]

Less okay is the Figy Berry hiccuping out of reality in the palm of her hand. Xander frowned, "Did you guys see that?" he rubbed at his eyes and blinked, half expecting the berry to disappear, but it remained in her palm. [break][break]

Strange. [break][break]

Xander shrugged the whole thing off and went to grab the berry. "From the sounds of things, we need to make one of our Pokemon typeless." and he had just the Pokemon. [break][break]

Arcanine appeared in a flash from her Poke Ball. She bound playful to Xander's side, and he flashed an awkward, lopsided smile. "Alright, girl. I need you hit that Unown with Burn Up." Arcanine barked, her tongue lapping at his hand. [break][break]

"Good girl." [break][break]

The canine turned and stepped forward, all the heat in her body unleashed in a tornado of scarlet that burned her typing away.

Even though their bet has technically been made null and void thanks to Xander Belmont , Angelo's shoulder still brushes Skyler's as they climb the stairs.

Under hushed breaths and a slow smirk, an alternative prize is suggested. One that ought not be shared. In any sense of the word.

When they reach the tenth floor, dim light envelops the room. Finally, they can see beyond their noses but the sight that awaits them is less than welcoming.

An Unown and a glitching Figy Berry is presented.

“And now I'm not hungry anymore.” He responds dryly, taking a pokeball from his belt.

And not just because he knew how spicy Figy berries could be.

“So. Any ideas, sunshine?” He asks skyler dross for her take on what to do next. Waiting until she answers to release an Oricorio, regardless of whether she's right or not, as per their bet.

The fire bird pirouettes towards the Arcanine, flames of REVELATION DANCE swirling in time with her elegant display.

Arcanine endured Revelation Dance with gritted teeth. The next part of the plan began when the ballet ended. Munching down on the glitched-out Figy Berry, she raised her head, ready for Xander's next order. [break][break]

"Now, Mimic the Oricorio and hit the Unown with all you got."[break][break]

Another bark to confirm, and Arcanine began her dance. Her Revelation Dance isn't as graceful as the birds, but it'll get the job done. [break][break]

Hideo blushed, emboldened by the praise he’d received. “It’s just stuff you learn when you’re surrounded by Pokemon 24/7,” he “humbly” stated, “I’m sure there’s stuff you guys know that I don’t.”

His humbleness couldn’t last the offer of more scoops. “My stomach can take more than two!” And maybe a little bit of drool pooled in his mouth at Xander Belmont ’s offer of three scoops. “It could definitely take three. And more than that!” Could it really? Only one way to find out.

They made their way to the final room, where it was time to face their tenth challenge. The lady went on a speech about light and darkness - while an artful speech, both concepts were moot to Hideo. What was before them was fairly simple: don’t get super-effective’d by a move that was super-effective against everything, and hit it with a typeless move.

Well, it was a good thing Xander and angelo vestri found the solution first, because Hideo was clueless. It was easier for him to just sit on the sideline and banter while his own Oricorio danced along, cheering on the Arcanine and the other Oricorio.

“Did you guys see that?”

“Nope!” Hideo’s response was quick and curt; he couldn’t resist the easy joke. “But my Beheeyem told me that berry was kinda funky. Did it really disappear for a second?”

Sensu Oricorio is just being a Dancer on the side because why not

There is little for Skyler to do but watch. She listens to the woman's speech halfheartedly, bored at first and then suddenly alert when Xander Belmont points out the glitching Figy Berry. Its shape is familiar to her; the fact that it seems to phase out reality is definitely not.

"That's easy, Vestri. You poke it in the eye," she tells angelo vestri , forced casualness snagging halfway up her throat. There's an intensity to the way she refuses to let the woman and the Unown-A out of her sight, to the way she focuses on the shifting dark. As if she's expecting it to sprout fangs and attack them. "Simple, but effective."

Would she wrestle with an Unown? Probably, if given the opportunity.

Noticing Hideo Kino 's proximity, Skyler leans down slightly. "Hey pipsqueak," she whispers, making sure Xander Belmont is out of earshot, "bet you could convince Xander to give you four scoops." In the shadowed room, it's easy to conceal the shit-eating grin that curls her lips. Rife with no small amount of mischief.

A small, yet welcomed distraction from the turbulent frenzy of thoughts that stew within her mind.

Relief filled Locke as light filtered through the door ahead, but he froze on seeing the room’s inhabitant. The combination of white hair and dark clothing sent a jolt of panic through his entire body, and his mind began to fill with an unpleasant static even as he slowly registered the figure as nothing more than an old woman.

The Unown almost sent him running back down the stairs.

They stood rooted to the spot closest to the door, clutching De-De close and counting their breaths as both puzzle and solution played out somewhere far away. By the time they settled down, exhausted and ready for the entire ordeal to be finished, their teammates had already finished, and the amount of ice cream being promised had doubled.

At this point, they might just ask for the whole gallon.

"go on." The lady waits for your decisions as the Enamorus begins to conjure a cyclone of sakura pink, brimming with affections gained. affections lost.[break][break]

One may wonder whatever else may be bestowed within this wind— should it be trusted.[break][break]

Choose one of your Pokemon to learn a free 7TH EVENT MOVE, SPRINGTIDE STORM.
SPRINGTIDE STORM can be used on a LAND FORME SHAYMIN to shift it into SKY FORME SHAYMIN; however, this must be done in a THREAD OF ANY KIND. The move can be used again to reverse the forme.
A SKETCHED version of SPRINGTIDE STORM can not be used to shift Shaymin's forme. After all, Smeargle's versions of legendary/mythical signature moves are inherently weaker and may lack particular elements.
A LAND FORME SHAYMIN changing to SKY FORME will lose access to AROMATHERAPY and HEALING WISH, replacing such moves with AIR SLASH and LEAF STORM. There are circumstances where the SKY FORME may be reverted temporarily (e.g. night time, freezing).

Hideo perked up, his attention drawn to someone whispering in his ear. skyler dross asked him to ask for even more ice cream from Xander Belmont - and to that request, Hideo bore a massive grin.

He nodded walking over towards the generous gym leader. "Wanna bet I can handle four scoops?" he asked - a challenge even he didn't know he could complete.

Though it was only after making that challenge that he realized Skyler hadn't actually specified what she'd bet.

Though their success drew his attention away from that issue, the lady that gave them their final challenge congratulating them. He couldn't help but feel an odd chill as she recalled her Unown, but he couldn't put his finger on the exact source. Maybe one that came from those weird Pokemon-appearances that kept happening over the region?

And they were given an offer, regarding a Springtime Blessing. The name made it pretty easy to decide which of his Pokemon would receive the gift: it would be his Zarude that approached the strange pink Pokemon, to receive the winds of love and hate.

He wishes skyler dross had jabbed the Unown in the eye, what with the way it continues to stare even when whisked away in a bolt of red.

Not like it will help, aside from the satisfaction. Angelo sees them in his dreams, nowadays.

At the appearance of a strange pokemon he'd never witnessed before, wind laced with blossoms suddenly beings to swirl around the room, tickling his hair and caressing his skin.

Angelo feels his muscles slacken and the hair on the back of his neck prickle, all at once. As revitalised by the warm breeze as it leaves him with an unplaceable wariness, like a spring current that promised sun or rain, depending on its whimsical mood.

It makes him crave the outside and the boundless sky, all the more.

“This feels like your kind of thing...”

After a moment of contemplation, Angelo calls forth the pokemon chosen to receive the wind's blessing. Ankaa, his Togekiss, chirps and closes her eyes as the pink blossoms encircle her. Welcoming it.

“So. We getting that ice cream to celebrate?” Maybe it had all been theorhetical, maybe not, but Angelo was craving a snack after their puzzle-filled ascent. “I know a good place on the beachfront we could go to that's generous with their scoops.”

And as a bonus, it's far away from the Tiered Tea Rooms.

"The beach?" Xander blinked, looking down at his suit, "Let me stop by a store to get a change of clothes."

There's a moment, as the old lady brusquely draws open the curtains, in which Skyler's fingers twitch over her poorly-concealed dagger. Mistrust running deep in the wake of recent memories.

Then sunlight floods into the room.

"To the beach, then?" Blinking against the abrupt glare, Skyler calls her Toxapex back to its pokeball. The Phione from earlier replaces it, twirling in the air amid a shower of swirling petals. It hovers closer to Ankaa, clearly at ease around the fairy-type, before plopping down on her head with a happy trill.

Skyler stretches, lazy-like, popping her shoulders as she turns to the rest of the team. She wouldn't have believed it at first, but they'd made a pretty good team. Fast. Efficient.

Huh. Wonder if any of them would be interested in becoming sailors?

"You're paying, right?" It's something between a challenge and a tease when she walks past Suits :tm: (Xander Belmont ), mischief dancing on her curled lips. "I could use four scoops after this myself."

Despite the captain's apparent relaxed demeanour, she never turns her back on the old lady, or whatever shadows may linger behind.

Locke breathed out a sigh of relief, happy to have reached the end regardless of the rewards. Not that he would turn them away, of course.

”Only one huh…” Locke mused, eyeing the mysterious Pokémon curiously. He glanced down at the Delibird in his arms. ”You actually got to do a lotta of these, didn’t ya? I think you earned something cool like this!”

De-De crowed excitedly, almost wiggling out of her trainer’s grasp as they stepped into the cyclone. The blossoms made her sneeze as they brushed past her beak, but the blessing settled in alongside the wind.

At long last, it was over, and Locke could almost say it was worth it. They certainly learned a few things, though they’d have to ask for a little help picking apart some of the more…creative solutions later.

But ice cream first though.

”Four for us too! Although, De-De might badger ya for her own cone…”

YOU FIND YOURSELVES WARPED ONTO THE UPPERMOST FLOOR of the Fleur Tea Atelier. Curiously, you see Commissioner dahlia goode, startled by your sudden teleportation. With her Stoutland by her side, she gasps in surprise, fingers spread across her small mouth. "where did you all come from?!"[break][break]

You gather that you all must have teleported from a different dimension.[break][break]

She scratches her cheek lightly before moving to a pink-clothed table. There, she scoops a couple of woven gift baskets, filled with various amenities and a bouquet of flowers. Unbeknownst to you all, for now, the Pokemon that have learned SPRINGTIDE STORM have also received a viral load of POKERUS-Y... But for what purpose?[break][break]
