Leave the pokemon behind? Ruby was on the money with her 'hell no' - and Makoto would similarly shake their head to themself. They weren't going to leave their pokemon behind here - not if they could at all help it.

But things were becoming a bit dire, when one of the team's hardest-hitters - Delphi - went down. Even if Kiha was a perfectly capable combatant, and had been able to get some poison in Rayquaza's system, a fire-type could only do so much against a dragon-type. And it was as if Rayquaza knew it, letting out a roar as the dragon became all the more emboldened with each fallen pokemon!

Makoto, however, wasn't going to back down - taking in a deep breath to steel their nerves as they reached for something on their belt. "Recall your pokemon and get the shuttles going!" They shouted to Ruby and Gerald both - and if the two hesitated or argued, they'd punctuate it with a suddenly-bold "Now! I got it handled!" Without hesitation, Makoto would bring forth their Tera Orb - and a bright and dazzling light from Tsukiko drew Rayquaza's attention.

The fox clad herself in crystals - and in doing so, would take on the Fairy Tera type. As if to show off, she would swish her tails with a flourish, the crown upon her head held high. She didn't even need a command to know what Makoto wanted of her; Tsukiko would simply take sudden control of the winds, a flurry of pink petals whirling up around Rayquaza in a Springtide Storm!

Between the weakness and the tera boost, the attack drew a snarl from Rayquaza - who was, perhaps, caught a bit by surprise. But the titan would not let this go unpunished. The serpent dove low to circle itself around Tsukiko - entrapping the fox, for as much as she would attempt to dance around it to play keep-away. The titan's tail took on a familiar steely glow, as it swung an Iron Tail down at Tsukiko, aiming to subdue her...

... But even as the strike sent up a cloud of dust and debris, when the titan drew back to check its handiwork, the ninetales had gone completely missing when the air cleared. A mound of dirt was the only evidence of where Tsukiko had gone.

The dragon had been duped.

But by the time Rayquaza would realize it, Makoto was already starting up the shuttle's engines - a certain dirt-covered ninetales emerging from Dig to slip in the closing door. Glancing back to the ice-type, Makoto smiled and nodded. "Good girl." They murmured - reaching back to scratch the fox behind the ear with one hand, as the shuttle began to lurch and move underneath them....

- Things are getting tricky, and both Makoto + Rayquaza know it, the titan be getting all the more bold.
- Makoto shouts for Gerald and Ruby to recall their pokemon and escape on the shuttles. (personal prompt)
- Terastallizes Tsukiko into Fairy, and has her use Springtide Storm to grab Rayquaza's attention and stall for a bit of time.
- Rayquaza angy, coils around Tsukiko to trap her and attempts to strike her down with Iron Tail
- But once the dust settles, it's revealed Tsukiko escaped with Dig
- Tsukiko - upon reemerging - slips into the shuttle with Makoto while they start it up.

Gerald glared at both Ruby and Makoto. But he bit his tongue, fought the urge to point out the massive flaw in the plan that their bond to the Pokémon created. Their chances of survival were slim, but it would definitely grow slimmer with each moment they spent fighting each other.

However, Gerald had to give Makoto points for her certainty. A certainty which he had assumed they weren’t even capable of, from all of the previous interactions during this mission.

“Fine, but if we fail this, it will be because you two weren't willing to make sacrifices.” Gerald growled but otherwise followed the plan, The moment Decidueye came within the retrieval range of its Pokéball Gerald pulled it back. Then quickly hurried into the shuttle to get it moving.

He took position in the pilot seat, pressed the buttons, while cursing loudly, yet he somehow managed to make it turn on.

Now if only he knew how to fly one of these. How hard could it be? Grabbing the control stick fumbled about trying to make it take off from the meteor.

Makoto called for Ruby and Gerald to recall their Pokémon and get in the shuttle. "What?!" Ruby shouted back. "That thing'll kill us!" But Makoto was firm and far more determined than they had been for this entire mission. The certainty with which they spoke and acted caught Ruby off-guard for a moment, but she quickly snapped out of it. Now wasn't the time to be gawking. As the light of Terastallization surrounded the Alolan Ninetales, Ruby recalled Kiha and ran for one of the shuttles.

[break][break]Thank Arceus most of the buttons and such inside were labeled. Ruby hadn't piloted one of these during Meteno's fall—she'd flown on Delphi, which wasn't exactly an option here—so she didn't have that prior experience to fall back on. Once she felt the engines roar to life, she glanced outside just in time to see Rayquaza slamming down an Iron Tail on Tsukiko. Ruby couldn't help the sympathetic wince, but she kept quiet. This had been Makoto's idea, so it was their problem to deal with. So much for not making sacrifices.

[break][break]Oblivious to the trick Tsukiko and her trainer had pulled on Rayquaza, Ruby pushed the lever to activate the thrusters. The craft shook beneath her, making Ruby mutter, "Come on, come on...!" Then, with a jerk, it began to rise. She looked back again to see Rayquaza looking around and no sign of Tsukiko on the surface. Before she could wonder what was going on, the Legendary's eyes flashed toward the launching shuttles. Its mouth curled in a snarl that Ruby could have sworn she heard even from inside.

[break][break]"Punch it!" she shouted over the shuttles' comms.

[break][break]Rayquaza began to slither upward again, but the flames and smoke from the shuttles obstructed its vision and slowed its progress. By the time it was airborne, the shuttles had already gotten some decent distance from it. Still, it wouldn't be deterred. With one last roar, it summoned another field of Draco Meteors.

[break][break]"Shit, on the left!"

[break][break]She called out directions while jerking her ship from one side to the other. The movement nearly tossed her out of her seat, but she managed to dodge the meteors. Were they slower than they had been before? Whatever; Ruby wouldn't look a gift Ponyta in the mouth. Once they were clear of the meteor field, Ruby looked back, expecting to see Rayquaza coming after them, but it remained curled up on the simulated Meteno. Maybe it was actually tired from the battle. Maybe it was a property of the simulation. Maybe it was just dumb luck. Whatever the cause, the three managed to breach Earth's atmosphere. There was a bright light, and when it cleared, they found themselves back in reality.

FINAL EVALUATION: Good use of your z-move and spirit shackle to restrain rayquaza as much as you could. However, your type match up was atrocious, while this doesn't determine everything in a battle it could greatly change the flow of the battle. Despite the fact it had such a huge resistance to your grass moves, you could easily fix this with moves that change a pokemon's typing such as soak. It would greatly increase your combat capabilities I think. You have a potential to be a really hard hitter if you use that to your advantage, I liked how destructive your moves were

You had a good strategy, but you failed to recognize and adapt to one of Rayquaza's biggest strengths: weather control. Your little bout of camouflage likely saved your life. Bravo on being the only intelligent one of the group and setting them up for success by readying the ships.

FINAL EVALUATION: Take it from personal experience: There are no heroes in Team Rocket and you will never be rewarded for it. A willingness to sacrifice yourself is not noble, it's stupid. Pokemon are tools: use them. Offering to sacrifice yourself right off the bat was an immediate turn off. It's predictable and coy. You're not Eva Morales. Your willingness to sacrifice your pokemon is necessary and recognized. You are also strong, continue to train. You could afford to do a little more studying to understand typing and effectiveness better. No one likes muscle with brains. [break][break]
