The Corviknight flying taxi dropped Robin off a block before the factory where some Revarooms were being tackled by Hoennian trainers left and right. She was glad to see so many people fighting the good fight. She'd come as soon as possible. As it was, the poisoned pokemon were taken care of, but there were still injured civilians.

Robin hurried over to a young boy and his mother on the sidewalk. The boy had a scrape on his elbow that was sprinkled with gravel; the mother explained that he had dove to the side of the road to avoid a Revaroom that had come onto the sidewalk in its haze.

"I gotcha," Robin said with enthusiasm. She pulled out her aid kit and grabbed some cleaning supplies while Sinistea chimed and danced in front of the boy to distract him. "This might sting but only for a second." She dabbed his injury and very lightly wiped at the peripheral gravel. Then, she pulled a large bandage and placed it gently. "All better!"

Blue eyes narrowed as she caught sight of a sedan barreling down the straightaway. With little fear, the soldier stepped toward it. As others panicked, her calm only seemed to grow. Normal life was strange. This was battle.The rules were simple: die or win.

A Revavroom was currently chasing a family, its tires spinning as it tried to work its way over a hastily created barrier of earth. Spotting the pair, the Revavroom screeched its tires. Its tongue splattering acid over the earth. Where it touched, black smoke flowed. One of the children screamed. Tiny hands curling into fists, Lydia lifted two fingers to her mouth and blew. “!!”

“I believe zere is a better opponent here, you bag of bolts.” Her tones are icy, but her eyes gleam. "Come at me." Like an angry Tauros, it charged. Swirling black tires became a blur as it picked up speed. Lydia stroked the handle of her sidearm, fixated unnervingly on the poisoned Pokemon. Wait. Another two breaths followed. “Now!” With that shout, the woman dove to the right, her metal leg clanking as she tucked it into a roll.

Minerva, meanwhile, leaped up. Stone spikes erupted from the ground to cut into the steel-type’s tires. With a noise of distress, it soul out of the way, coming to rest upside down in a nearby ditch.

Well, if that situation isn't quite highspeed compared to the others. Lutgarde has opted for the flying taxi instead of being in the middle of the action this time, deeming it safer and more efficient if they were working from above. Sylph is flying around, and for once, Sylv is actually seperated from Lutgarde, and instead is holding firmly onto the togekiss as she flies.

"Sylv, helping hand, Sylph, air slash!" they command from the half-open taxi that flies some metres above the haywire vehicles, pointing at the weak points in the tires that they'd have to slash to disarm them momentarily. Then, some ranger colleagues would take care of the rest of the ground work while Lutgarde orders the taxi and their pokémon to fly further.

What other messes will await Hoenn this month, they couldn't help but wonder - and where is it all coming from?

“Tell me when the car’s coming.” He radios ahead to Hattori. Arthur, the elite’s Kommo-O, looks at him like he’s crazy. Navy laughs.[break][break]
“Can feel what you’re feeling, you know.” Arthur exhales a slow, exasperated breath. “You think this is stupid, or suicidal.”[break][break]
A slow nod tells Navy he’s right on the money. His dragon prince looks down the street. In the far distance, engines rumble like stormclouds. Somehow, this feels nostalgic. Where’s ? They could go on another adventure, two road warriors out to save the day.[break][break]
“If you wanted to hang out with a sane guy, there’s plenty of tamers out there who fit the bill. Freya, Roy. Hell, even Eva. Dunno if she keeps many dragons besides Big Green, but she’d probably make room for you. You’re here trying to fight the good fight.”[break][break]
Hattori shrieks into the comms. It’s showtime. Arthur picks Navy up as their sync stones synergize fully.[break][break]
“Thought so.” Arthur winds up, throwing his grinning trainer like a baseball. He lands on the hood of a poisonmobile. A chained Revaroom looks up at him, trying to spurt poison on the sygna suit.[break][break]
“None of that.” Jumping up past it, he smashes the driver’s side window and jumps in. A lifetime ago, he was a car nut. Repairing them brought him joy. Racing fast ones even moreso. Revaroom struggles to control the steering wheel. Gripping until his knuckles are white, Navy fights against the Pokemon, eventually pivoting the car hard to the left.[break][break]
The car flips. He’s flying through the air. Arthur leaps into the air, catching the car and ripping Revaroom out. A quick punch on its head knocks the Pokemon clean out.[break][break]
“Man.” Navy groans. “Couldn’t have happened to a nicer car. This thing’s a beauty.”

With incident after incident, Makoto was finding themself putting their fingers on the pulse of these strange Toxic Chain events more and more often. For as much as they didn't want to get themself in the midst of these shenanigans, they figured out pretty quick that these Toxic Chains could spread fast if allowed to get out of hand.

So, when there was word of Revavrooms going wild in Mauville, they'd prepare a very special pokemon to bring with them to the city. A certain Forretress, in fact.

Spikes and Stealth Rocks would do quite well, in popping the tires of these runaway cars, right?

It just so happened his current delivery route brought him through Mauville when the sounds of the uproar caught his attention—

“Oh, cazzo,” he sighed as he pulled his motorbike over to a stop, before belatedly reaching for something when he realized—he wasn’t a figure of authority anymore! Damn, he kept forgetting.

But then again, the uproar caught his attention, so there was that.

“Yikes,” he cringed as he saw several possessed Reva—the car-like Pokémon if his mind was remembering this right—that were now spinning out of control and causing mass mayhem.

Without thinking, he would reach into his pocket and pull out a Dusk Ball—wondering if he’d gotten the right Pokémon—and then surprised as he saw that it was Valjean who’d popped out.

“Oh, perfect,” he addressed the Cacturne.

“Use your Spikes move, now! We have to stop those rogue vehicles from coming any further.”

Confused, the dual-type then nodded before scattering several layers of Spikes across the path where the approaching, possessed vehicle Pokémon were headed.

[attr="class","star2tsu4"]Choking exhaust and the deafening roar of cars rocketing past don't deter her at all. Even these speeds just remind her of home, back on Kanto's busiest streets. [break][break]

"Hold it! Those're just the avant garde!"[break][break]

She shouts over the din, a glowing flower blinking slowly at her side. It watches and pulses with a mysterious energy. Despite its foreign composition, it seems to understand.[break][break]

"Hold it... hooooold it..."[break][break]

Crouching down, she can feel the rumbling in her legs. At first, she can't tell if it's just the nervousness getting to her, all these images of that strange chain coming back to haunt her after all this time, when she'd first been unceremoniously introduced to the idea of aliens living among them. [break][break]

She waits, though. Then, she can hear the roar of engines coming up the drive.[break][break]

"Alight. On cue! One... two..."[break][break]

The sparkling flower blooms accordingly, scattering shards of broken toxic crystals across the roadway beneath them. Crystalline toxic shards almost seem like tinsel, or confetti. A celebration, for their victory to come. [break][break]

The screeching of tires, the resulting angry roars of engines beneath them as they try to outmaneuver the resulting pile-up... she hears it all from the overpass above. Every last bit. [break][break]

And then, the roads fall silent, only burning wreckage left in their wake. [break][break]

"... Arceus."[break][break]

She peeks over the side, surveying the end result.[break][break]

"Got some of 'em. Rest will be headed your way."[break][break]

Tsubaki clicks off her comms, and slumps against the wall. The flower in front of her dangles precariously, light trickling off its petals as if in a constant rain storm. Whatever fell from the skies that day, though... it definitely wasn't rain.[break][break]
