When trying to warm someone up to bug-types, it was always good to start small and cute. Which was why El would bring Leif the Snom - as a cute little ambassador. The little worm would be on their lap, as they fed little frozen berries to him and kept an eye out for the students. "Leif here is a Snom - which is the base stage form for the Ice-Bug Type Frosmoth. You can usually find them in snowy mountains, or in forests during the winter. If you see what looks like an icicle hanging in an unusual spot, that may just be a resting Snom!"

El smiled bright as they spoke, clearly happy to be talking about pokemon. Things were a lot less scary when you understood them! "As you can see, he has what almost looks like a shell on his back - which is, in fact, made of ice! This is equal parts armor, and a way for it to disguise itself to hide from predators." They'd gesture along the ice formation as they spoke.

"A major part of a Snom's diet is snow, which is used to maintain this protective covering, to enhance its silken threads, and to help regulate temperature when exposed to warmer climes. The more well-fed a Snom is, the thicker the shell and longer the spikes on it. Snom are particularly fond of softer, freshly fallen snow - so you can usually find them out and about when it's snowing!"

Gesturing to indicate the berries they were feeding Leif though, they continued "Otherwise, Snom will happily eat fruit - mostly berries - and plant matter like leaves. It's not uncommon for a foraging Snom to dig up the leaves that fell over the course of autumn from underneath the snow - allowing it to have both in one meal!" With a chuckle though, they emphasized "But, even if they're pretty easy to feed, they have high metabolisms that lead to voracious appetites. So if you decide to raise one yourself, be ready to provide them regular feasts."

"Otherwise, if you run into a Snom out in the wild, don't worry - they're usually timid, and often more nervous of us than we are of them. They're not particularly strong, and would sooner hide as an icicle or flee by burrowing under the snow rather than pick a fight. So just avoid cornering one, and you'll be perfectly fine." Though of course, you shouldn't corner any wild pokemon.

As El speaks though, Leif is simply content to continue munching on berries - and to allow the few who can get up the nerves for to to pet him. He has it easy today, it seems...

Bugphobic

Hoenn's (arguably) most famous bugcatcher had been invited as well.

NATURALLY. If there was anyone well equipped to help children become future bugcatchers— er, that is to say, stop fearing insects, it was him.

Only the cutest of bug types were allowed for this presentation... Problem was, bugs only came in five flavors for Doug: Cute, Cool, tough, Beautiful and Smart.

Such a vague requirements barely helped, sheesh!

Luckily— he had a go to little guy who fit all those categories on hand.

"Feast your eyes, kids!" The doctor boomed cheerfully as he extended his arm dramatically. Giggles escaped his lips a lump suddenly began moving beneath his jacket at high speed, fuzzy golden hairs briefly peaking out from his collar before a set of multiple, blue eyes peaked out.

Hoenn's cutest, coolest, smartest, toughest and beautiful-est Galvantula leapt out of the young doctor's collar, swinging itself unto his head before preening before the children, basking in the attention.

Doug, too, puffed out his chest, always eager to extol the virtues of spiders to any who would listen— specially since Yuina Higashi didn't wanna hear any of it.

"Kids— This is Goran! He is a Galvantula." He said, raising a finger as he spoke— ratting of a number of taxonomic and enthomological facts about the species.

"But enough about the details— how about a lil' demonstration of what this guy can do?" He said, before sweeping his arms wide. "Let's show 'em our favorite lil combo, Goran! Sticky Web, then Electroweb!"

He was gonna turn all these kids into bugcatchers. For sure.

TL;DR:

Beedrill were some of the most terrifying insects on the planet. With two stings designed to pin and pierce, and a third to inject a deadly dose of venom into its prey, they were some of the most efficient killers in the forest. It was the reason Shalin left the giant, Shiny wasp's saddle on her when she sent Queen Zing off to Lacvaridge. One buzz of her loud wings was all it took for the children to scatter in fright. Even the teachers were taken aback by the enormous, blue-eyed hornet's presence. Who would even sit in that saddle, anyway?

One brave, young girl did, the supervising faculty gasping and reaching for her to try to grab her before Queen Zing took off. With a squeeze from the girl's legs and a playful but firm hold on her reins, the duo buzzed just off the ground. She was constantly giggling while in flight, the vibration tickling her. Queen Zing gave her the illusion of control, listening to her commands some, but staying within the flight patterns Shalin had approved before letting her back onto the ground.

One of the teachers worriedly scooped the young child up after she slid down from the bee big enough for an adult to fly on it. Seeing how true it was that bugs don't bug people unless people bug them first, many of the other students formed a line, ready to get their turn in the air!
