[break][break] The champion was sure to recognize him the second Latias was seen. Not that Locke was worried about the other man selling him out-no, it was being seen in this ridiculous getup that made his gut wrench. [break][break] "What am I Lupin…" he grumbled to his invisible companion as he lowered the brim of his top hat, found with the rest of the abandoned costume in a bargain bin that clearly hadn't been touched since Halloween. [break][break] Latias, of course, was unbothered by her ward's nerves. They were only here at her insistence, after all, and her excitement buzzed in the back of his mind even when he couldn't see her. [break][break] At least he wasn't the only one in costume, with Andrea Vaneau's bombastic introduction and even Martín del Mar's adorable onsie reminding him that this show was primarily for children, so a little eccentricity wouldn't turn the audience away. [break][break] "Last but not least, I'm Mister Reeman," Locke announced, throwing their cape back dramatically as the spotlight finally revealed the lone masked man. "And my Pokémon is…also a mystery!"[break][break] It didn't earn as much of a reaction as the other contestants, but it certainly got the crowd talking. Lopez aside, revealing Latias too early could lessen their chances of leaving the competition without questions, so for now staying hidden and playing up the intrigue was their best option. [break][break] "My New Year's resolution-to bring a smile to everyone in Hoenn, starting with you all!"[break][break] Seriously? They couldn't think of something less cringey?! And didn't luka chêne literally just say the same thing?! Whatever, the audience was mostly kids, so it was good enough right? [break][break] Their first question was thankfully one they knew, and with their and Latias' connection they didn't even need to speak to put together a simple act.
