BARNABY FINCH managed it because of his extensive physical training — but Steven Campbell? He was surprised the grunt had held on this long.[break][break]

POOCHYENA slammed into MELMETAL, causing the Pokémon to tumble — hard — onto the ground below. It was the felling blow. The hulking giant attempted to right itself, but ultimately slumped over after fainting.[break][break]

A brief moment of silence followed the end of the match.[break][break]

"Wow, I didn't think I'd do that poorly." Barnaby eventually spoke through a sheepish grin, his words sounding somewhat embarrassed.[break][break]

"Your Poochyena was amazing, Kyle." Returning his MELMETAL to its Luxury Ball, the journalist spanned the distance between him and kyle lopez.[break][break]

Noel's incessant spamming of ZEN HEADBUTT had the desired effect, though it seemed a crude strategy to Barnaby.[break][break]

Citrine crystals eventually shattered upon one decisive impact, zapping MELMETAL of the Electric-type TERASTAL ENERGY it'd been using for the duration of the battle. It spelled the beginning of the end for the steel giant. [break][break]

With a mighty groan the MELMETAL toppled over, defeated... somehow... by a rodent ten times smaller than it. It was like CIAN MAHER's battle all over again.[break][break]

Nabi was correct — there was no way to avoid the torrent of MUDDY WATER that slammed into MELMETAL. The attack unsteadied the steel creature, causing it to to fall to one knee and then eventually onto its side, leaving it vulnerable to the sharp particles in the water.[break][break]

Scratches and grooves worked their way into its metal carapace before the wave subsided and it was able to right itself again. [break][break]

"Shake it off! You've got this!" Barnaby encouraged, his hands cupped around his mouth for added effect.[break][break]

That was MELMETAL's thing, after all. There was a reason the Pokémon had such large fists. Rushing forward, frost thick on its knuckles, MELMETAL swung at SWAMPERT with a two-swing ICE PUNCH combo.

As much as kyle lopez liked to deflect from his celebrity and prestige, there was no denying his and his Pokémon's prowess in battle. POOCHYENA barely looked fatigued, let alone injured; meanwhile, MELMETAL was having a difficult time keeping up.[break][break]

The FUTURE SIGHT prevented it from defending against the oncoming DRAGON HAMMER, resulting in a double whammy of an attack. A hollow, metallic groan echoed out across the field, signaling a possible turning point for the worst. The writing was on the wall.[break][break]

"Keep going! You can do it!" BARNABY FINCH cheered, though his words were devoid of instructions on how MELMETAL would succeed here. [break][break]
