The newly opened restaurant in Lilycove's Department Store was having a food contest as part of its grand opening. To demonstrate how palatable their food was, they had enlisted the help of various PokeJob agencies to get viable pokemon to attend—all with the promise of a free meal! It was hard to pass up, especially when you could offer any pokemon with no regard to appetite or metabolism.

Arbok could survive off a hearty meal for weeks at a time if necessary, so it was the perfect candidate for Adrian to save some cash and feed his pokemon. (When you owned more than four-hundred pokemon, eating expenses started to become a real issue.)

They brought out food in droves, but they could not account for the serpent's appetite: In a standoffish threat display it hissed at the other contenders, causing the meekest of them to cower back while it unhinged its jaw, slithering across the table and SWALLOWING all of the food it could cram down its gullet.

When all was said and done it slithered off the table, its distended length bulging where the excess of the food settled and digested.

Did you know a giant anteater can flick its tongue 150 times per minute?

Even though the bites he was taking were undeniably smaller than others, the plates surrounding Yvette’s Heatmor steadily piled higher and higher, seemingly without end. Even when much of the competition had their fill, the Gluttonous Pokémon kept going and going, only stopping to lash his fiery tongue out at anything that got between him and his next meal.

At this point, the restaurant staff might’ve started to realize the flaw in their marketing strategy…

One could be forgiven for mistaking a certain Pokémon for part of the menu, the sweet scent of its apple acid wafting through the air and filling the room with the scents of a bakery. Not for the first time, an attempt to take a bite out of this Appletun's back is rebuffed with a low grumble and the amusing sight of a pie sprouting legs and waddling away.

With another little 'harumph', the GLUTTON settles next to the latest non-living course and begins to take slow, ponderous bites. Other Pokemon were eating fast enough for the entire group, so no one seems to mind him taking his time with it.

A belch, and then the Appletun tucks its legs back beneath its shell and once again recovers from the feasting.

ROSIE was small of stature, sure. But she had spirit! That trademark spirit of GLUTTONY that could win food-eating contests like this easy! With this hype burning from her like an aura, the APPLIN allowed herself to be carried onto the stage. Once there, she was placed on a stool in front of a diverse buffet of salads and fruit.

Most people haven't seen Applin eat. So, when this one leaped up off of her stool and landed in a salad upside-down, it was quite a shock. But, just as the crowd began to wonder if this was some sort of big joke, the apple began to vibrate. Before long, it served to ASTONISH the crowd before it as it vibrated over the table like a hungry little roomba, eating everything in its path.

A cloud of shredded lettuce rained down gently from the sky when it was over. Rosie did not reemerge from her apple afterwards. She was much too fat.

FOOD EATING CONTESTS have steadily become more popular. A restaurant in Lilycove Department Store needs Pokemon who would like to participate in an eating contest while advertising their menu. Can your Pokemon eat without quitting or hurling?!

Dealing with Honeycrisp was already an arduous task. He had to be led everywhere with a wagging treat, and his only concern was where he was going to snag his next meal. So when the opportunity came around for him to finally earn his keep, Cyg absolutely jumped to sign him up.

Her Appletun ate like a black hole. Everything they put in front of him, he munched down in large, voracious chomps. At one point, he bit right through the plate, shattering the porcelain into trapezoids that he crunched up like it was a tortilla chip. He chewed like a camel, side to side, the unstoppable force and the immovable object all in one. Nothing could sate his voracious appetite, and on he munched, happy as a pig in shit.

Despite being on the smaller side of Pokemon in attendance, Rae’s Skwovet was doing more than its fair share of work in the eating competition. It’s CHEEK POUCHES were stuffed full of whatever was brought in front of him as he stands on the table, running around his plate frantically, taking a little bite of something before running off to something else, desperate to try all of it.[break]

It very briefly stops to SWALLOW every minute or two before continuing, replenishing its STOCKPILE in its cheeks as it goes. It stops, feeling a bit sick, before it lets out a BELCH and tucks right back into stuffing its cheeks.[break]

Even though it had eaten its full, Skwovet continues to STUFF CHEEKS, holding as much of that food for later as it could. Heck, it might even offer some to its new trainer Rae when it gets back to her!

You best believe that this gulpin wasn’t going to turn down an opportunity to eat. Much less, an eating contest. It didn’t matter if the place was new or old, the creature would love to munch down on everything and anything. Despite her small size, she had a mighty appetite. It was in the gulpin nature after all. Eating is even in its name. Gulp-in.

Beady eyes widened at the sight of all the delicious food spread across the table before her. Mouth began to water, saliva slipping out of the side of her mouth. The anticipation was killing her, gaze flickered over the table unsure of where to start. Her master told her to listen to the humans there, but how can she with all this food before her?

Twitching in her seat, the gulpin waited as patiently as she could. That was, until it was time to chow down. Mouth opened wide, much larger than one would expect from such a smaller creature. And without a care in the word, the creature began to SWALLOW everything within her reach that her fellow easting competitors didn’t get too. Surely this will fill her GLUTTONY, right?

The Lilycove Department Store definitely didn’t expect all this fierce competition. Luckily, the plates of food just kept on coming without delay. Grimer’s delighted not only to eat, but to clean off the plates for the dedicated employees! Grubby hands of green sludge hold onto the plates, SWALLOWING full course meals down it’s hatch with minimal effort. Toshiaki could be heard cheering on the GLUTTONOUS grimer from the sidelines. [break][break]
Alolan Grimer shovels down multiple helpings of food, crunching and chomping, while miraculously regurgitating clean plates in one piece. ~~How that’s possible we don’t question but it’s pretty impressive.~~ Soon there’s piles upon piles of empty plates stacked high like towers, her very own badges of victory. Once finished, she leaves out a mighty BURP.[break][break]
Win or lose this event, the Grimer doesn’t leave on an empty stomach!
