Aki loved Christmas!

Kinda.

She liked decorating the trees, but she hated the cold. The woman was not meant to be cold! It hurt her bones! But hey, spending time with the family to make the Christmas Tree pretty was always fun. So here she was with her family, arguing with her twin, Ash, over how to put the decorations on the tree.

she stares at the odd looking creatures situating themselves between the lines of christmas trees. while they're doing a great job at blending it, the olives on them really... do not look like ornaments.

speaking of olives, there's a super cute calico cat named olive. she's a gremlin.

anyway, she stares at the not-trees long enough to commit them to memory before passing on to the next cluster. at some point, she tries to put an ornament or two on the not-trees. they seem to like the ornaments well enough.

"Bro, olives sound soooo good right now," the blonde commented as his stomach growled.

Had he considered eating some of the black olives that the Arboliva sported? Perhaps. They'd go great in a salad. Danny's eyes sparkled as he thought about drowning the poor pokemon in some Italian dressing and digging right in. He practically salivated as he reached for a poke ball from his bag in an attempt to snag one of the unfortunate pokemon he simply marveled as a snack. With his free hand, Danny wiped the corner of his mouth and then stepped back in an attempt to line up his shot.

"Time for dinner, big fella!"

With that vague threat, he sent the poke ball forward and eagerly awaited for it to capture its target.

"What sorts of activities should we do this winter?" Nomi asked Val as they traversed the snowy landscape of the Christmas Tree Farm just outside of Fortree City. "Last winter, we went ice skating, remember? Maybe we should we go skiing or snowboarding this year." She vaguely remembered hearing that snowboarding was harder to learn than skiing, so maybe skiing was the better option. She'd never been particularly good at sports or athletic things, but she liked winter well enough - the cool, crisp air made her think better. Though she missed the blooming lavender flowers outside her brewery, they'd be back again next spring. The changing of the seasons always encouraged a healthy degree of gratitude for the things one loved best about nature.[break][break]
Suddenly, Val stiffened, nose twitching. He sniffed, then let out a low growl. Nomi cocked her head, curious. Just ahead, a small tree was swaying in the wind. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary...[break][break]
Except it wasn't a tree. Nomi squinted. It was breathing...and it had eyes, closed in a serene expression...[break][break]
A Pokémon? It was a Pokémon Nomi had never seen before. Her jaw dropped, and she quickly scrambled for a Pokeball.[break][break]
"I think it's...a traveler from a different time! Or dimension?" Nomi whispered to Val excitedly. "It probably came from one of the rifts." She had to study it.[break][break]

Hideo could only wonder why Fortree smelled more like olives than usual. His attention was drawn to the short trees his Beheeyem informed him of - shorter than he was. And possessing eyes, closed as they were.

“You sure that’s not a Sudowoodo?” he asked, the scent of olives growing stronger as he got closer. He received an easily-understood disconfirmation for that. “Makes sense. They don’t smell like olives.” And a Trevenant only had a single eye, not eyes.

With one of these strange, new Pokemon before him, he couldn’t resist taking out a spare Pokeball, to try and catch one of them.

fortree city looks so festive during the holiday season. the trees strung with lights, branches heavy with snow. annalise almost misses the way some of them seem to shift and move beneath the shade of some of the larger pines.

FORTREE IS HOME FOR HOENN’S FESTIVITIES. every year its citizens gather around the forested tops to marvel at the lights and decoration alike. the advent of snow is a relatively new phenomenon but the people have adjusted with thick mareep wool coats and feathered scarves.

“battle routine set.”

fernando remains on the ground level. while most explore the plank bridges, he remains on the ground, curious in how the wormholes have affected nearby vegetation. and, more importantly, the local pokemon.

“execute.”

his glalie engages with one of the new pokemon that have surfaced after the PRIMAL POINTS operation. while he doesn’t recognize the ARBOLIVA by species, he knows it’s not one traditionally found in hoenn’s borders. the strong odor from its OLIVES causes him to turn away but his pokemon has no such issue.

for it is a face with no nose.

Melody heard of a swarm of Arboliva had been plaguing foretree, however she saw it as an opportunity! She was out of olive oil, and Arboliva's had pretty good tasting oil! So what would be better than having her own source of olive oil in her back yard. [break][break]

So of course she naturally rolled up in a rush to try and capture one for herself before the rest of the crowd got here and took them all for themselves. "Cmere you little trees! Give me my olive oil!" she shouts as she lobs a pokeball at the tree, hoping that she'd be able to get one in time for christmas. Maybe Hideo would like one?...Maybe she could dress it up as their christmas tree.. [break][break]

[attr="class","wownewmain"]Dealing with having a rift right in downtown fucking Fortree was a new job in and of itself. Memo felt like he should get more base pay based on that fact alone. He wished he could face down every person at that stupid Ranger meeting that told him to stop whining and shove their faces full of mud pie.

Anyway.

Part of his and Alex’s new routine was patrolling the edges of the rift and making sure no hapless citizens had fallen in and nothing monstrous had clawed its way out. Add to that the remarkably human stubbornness that left folk trekking out into the wilderness for Christmas trees and security detail got much harder.

Also, it was cold.

He abhorred the cold.

But there he was, traipsing through the shin-deep snow, Leia at his side, underneath a string of fairy lights strung from fir to fir, wrapped in his own arms and rapidly snowboarding a slope of misery that penultimately landed him in a broken-limbed pile of holiday hatred.

He never meant to be a Grinch.

He pulled up short when his Arcanine barked a warning into the dark; leaning forward to peer around a tree, he caught sight of-- a garland of olives? Freezing in midair, but clearly mid-motion. Memo blinked as the laurel flopped into the snow with a light squeak.

“What the… Alex, come look at this!” He stepped towards the slightly shivering creature, kneeling down next to it. “Hey, you’re kinda cute… but, ugh, it’s way too cold out here for you. Let’s get you somewhere warm.”

He held out a Pokeball to do just that.

she'd heard of the oncoming swarm and had geared up as quickly as she could, leaving ophelia in charge of the shop for the time being. with adelaide promising to look after roman for the couple hours she'd be gone, she'd felt good about taking her mudsdale up to fortree to see the swarm for herself.

her pulse has quickened and there's a nervousness weighing on her shoulders, on her forced smile. since her sparring sessions with boruta maher , she hasn't really done anything like this.

but surrounded by trainers that are battling and attempting capture attempts on hoenn's newest species of pokemon, she finds herself feeling confident - if a little out of her depth.

the mudsdale's nostrils flare as she dismounts. she breathes in alongside him, pleasantly surprised at the aroma of olive oil stretching across the tree-fringed clearing.

after a few commands issues to lou, and a somewhat lackluster battle against a wild smoliv, she throws a pokeball.

Christmasses spent in Paldea with their extended family had not been a rarity in the childhood of Martín del Mar. Of course, such gatherings had been large part of the reason why he secretly can’t stand the holiday, but at least it had never made him hate the region from which his family originally hails.

honest to god, a bad hangover is all it took for someone to try to take a bite out of a damn living olive tree.[break]
"pleath ..." already suckling on some leaves of a nearby arboliva, the redhead tried to hold onto it for sweet relief - seeking the olives on its branches for sustenance and relief from the killer headache she had been suffering from. with her charizard keeping out a watchful eye, it didn't seem this one arboliva quite minded the strange attention it was getting. "give olib," the trainer pleaded, obviously not in her best state of mind but still wanting to take at least some olives back home with her.[break]

It was to lift Frog up into his arms like a prince rescuing his… well, captive from an angy, angery ~~Salamence~~ creature that breathed fire and stank of… olive breath.

Yeah.

Clearly someone wanted to lynch the cold and get out of it as fast as humanly possible.

“Frog, wait up!” he called, trudging through the snow as he came upon a shivering, tiny little…

“Aww, it’s so cute! But wait a second…”

He came to a stop to ponder.

“…why the hell does it look like a sentient olive?!”
