Tagtree Thicket - Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

🗺️ SPECIAL HUNT: your character(s) will be able to capture a CELESTEELA or KARTANA during this expedition. they may consider capturing an infantile celesteela or more a docile kartana; however, catching one may incur the wrath of more mature ultra beasts in the realm and cause multiple earthquakes, eruptions, or celesteela launches toward your location.[break][break]

Instead of an ULTRA BEAST, they may encounter and catch a ZARUDE that has wandered into this rift from Hoenn instead.[break][break]

BELOW IS A POOL OF PROMPTS you may use when creating an expedition. A successful expedition requires the completion of AT LEAST FOUR PROMPTS, including any extra conferred upon creation. More will be added as time goes on and expeditions are completed.[break][break]

01 involve an earthquake in a meaningful way.

02 fall victim to a massive carnivine, weepinbell, or victreebel.

03 use the move, "slash, cross poison, night slash, psycho cut, shadow claw, aqua cutter, bitter blade, kowtow cleave, trailblaze, cut" or the ability, "sharpness" to cut through obstacles.

04 encounter baby celesteela in the ground as obstacles. if they are touched, they will summon kartana to attack you.

05 harvest the fertile soil or plants of the land.

06 suffer the status condition, "burn".

07 suffer the effects of "leech seed" from a hostile plant or pokemon.

08 ride a launching celesteela unwittingly or on purpose to get to a destination.

09 cut down bamboo stalks to find treasure (e.g. gold nugget) or danger inside.

10 engage in battle with a member from the opposing faction.

11 discover at least one special crater out of five. each crater has an inscribed message written in bamboo stalks, asking for a separate gift to be brought at a later date: a stone bowl, a jeweled branch, a robe of fire rats, a dragon's jewel, and a seaborne shell.

12 involve being ambushed or trapped.

13 lose all or many of your rations (e.g. dropped, lost, stolen by pansage).

14 encounter gigantic bug-type pokemon that will attempt to ensnare, hunt, or kill you.

15 "law of the jungle".

16 search for suitable locations to set up camp/base (e.g. underground tunnels, outskirts, abandoned homes).

PROMPTS EXCLUSIVE TO THE 2ND EXPEDITION & ONWARD

17 begin building a base camp/settlement of some kind.

18 bring a pokemon or object that can fit the criteria of being a stone bowl, a jeweled branch, a robe of fire rats, a dragon's jewel, and a seaborne shell to one or some of the craters; upon doing so, a large moon will begin to rise or becoming more prominent in the sky.

19 involve a geyser or volcanic eruption in some pivotal way.

20 excavate or stumble upon an old megalopolan spacecraft or dead celesteela in a crater that has been buried deep underground; in the process, encounter evidence that only ultra beasts used to live here.

21 involve deadly, incendiary gas from celesteela that can suffocate or burn down stretches of land/flora/you and your pokemon.

22 reverse a recorded cry/noise from kartana to discover that it says "once again, I have cut a worthless object" or anything related to cutting.

23 involve the classic trope of running/fleeing through a bamboo forest/fields.

24 involve themes of romance, loss, or forgetfulness in some way. this can manifest in geyser steam, gas or plants that can evoke emotions.

25 attempt to fly toward an emerging moon via celesteela or some other method, but realize the moon is not quite reachable yet.

26 involve the classic trope of a swordsman's showdown or duel, the training of the blade, to intrude and explore a bamboo fortress heavily guarded by kartana.

PROMPTS EXCLUSIVE TO THE 3RD EXPEDITION & ONWARD

27 discover dilapidated bunkers underground or in the jungle. these bunkers have been made by megalopolans seeking shelter from the heat, the humidity, and ultra beasts.

28 discover a vast field filled with impossibly large celesteela that dwarf you inside. periodically, some will launch.

29 ride one of the aforementioned large celesteela in prompt 28 to reach the large moon in the sky. here, a large gathering of celesteela can be found, ready to launch again, perhaps to new worlds. due to supernatural means, being on this moon may cause your characters to want to stay and remain in this realm instead of going back home.

30 depending on the lunar phase, your character's moods may be affected for better or for worse.

31 discover that kartana can speak and repeat random fragments of a english (common) phrase albeit in reverse. the phrase is as follows: "ONCE AGAIN, I HAVE CUT A WORTHLESS OBJECT".

32 have your character or pokemon fall victim to a celesteela's "leech seed" or "ingrain", the vines siphoning you of health, grappling you, or controlling you.

PROMPTS EXCLUSIVE TO THE 4TH EXPEDITION & ONWARD

33 allow a celesteela or kartana that you own to guide you safely through the realm, or have them encounter previous members of their kind that believe it to have betrayed them.

34 encounter a CELESTIAL STORM of emerald steel, metal, and bamboo in ultra crater's realm or on the moon. these storms raze the terrain and tear apart anything caught within it. however, should you get to the storm's core, one can find a GRASSIUM Z-CRYSTAL that becomes permanently defunct once the storm ends.

35 after reaching the moon, encounter megalopolan bodies that are being parasitically controlled by CELESTEELA LEECH SEEDS. they are hostile and will attempt to spread the LEECH SEED onto you and your pokemon.

36 discover the amputated/separated arms of CELESTEELA. whether they are shed, cut, or culled from dead CELESTEELA is up to you. smaller arms can be used as flamethrowers to help combat threats as they expel burning gas.

37 explore underground caverns and tunnels within the realm or on the moon. sabotage INGRAINED celesteela for safer passage above, or encounter swarms of younger KARTANA.

PROMPTS EXCLUSIVE TO THE 5TH EXPEDITION & ONWARD

38 with KARTANA you own or ones you've made docile temporarily, use them as a SHIKIGAMI, a paper figure cut into the shape of a person or pokemon to ward off negative energy. ironically, when placed around the realm, or on the moon, the more you can sense a powerful entity's presence.

39 encounter a mysterious and large altar (click fo reference/concept art at bottom of page) on the realm or on the moon. clear the area of threats, including hostile lunatone, for a future visit.

40 battle a SHINY TAPU BULU that resides in this realm naturally. upon proving your mettle, it will grant you a MOON FLUTE that plays a sweet tone filled with gratitude.

PROMPTS EXCLUSIVE TO THE 6TH EXPEDITION & ONWARD

40 travel to the ALTAR OF THE MOONE at night. play the MOON FLUTE, after which it will disintegrate into an energy that activates the altar. doing so will possibly attract threats like ultra beasts, planeshifted pokemon, and storms.

41 after the flute is played, the circular door-like structure at its peak will open, allowing the moonlight to be channeled through it that fires a signaling laser to summon an enraged and injured LUNALA. it is incredibly hostile and will retreat after your battle.

42 destroy, obliterate, detonate the moon with celesteela and leech seeded megalopolans. however, a new moon will rise in its place after some time.

• Your character can only be in ONE EXPEDITION THREAD at a time.
• You may participate with all of your characters; however, be aware of your ability to post.
• If a thread partner has not posted in awhile, please skip them in this event. Momentum is important for engagement.
• If a thread begins to stagnate and show signs of stalling, please let shiv know immediately.
• Since these threads may feature combat, please be reasonable with your battling. Discuss with your group if you'd like one move per post, how many Pokemon are allowed to be brought, etc.
• Please be trusting and open to communicating with all of your thread partners.
• Please INCLUDE WHICH PROMPTS you are using in your expedition thread.
• Please have at least FIVE POSTS PER CHARACTER in your expedition thread.
• Wilds threads must have at least TWO CHARACTERS.
• Please indicate in MODERATION REQUESTS how many times the participating characters have completed a Wilds thread and how many times they've been to a particular area.
