WELCOME, TO THE LION'S DEN.

Here, in the smoldering realm of lava, heat, and ash - lies a secret abode housing a particularly grumpy PYROAR Guardian. Shall you brave the fire and the flames to be granted this Base's elusive flag? Let's see what you are made of, daring warrior!

GUARDIAN: This lion may still be on the mend, but that doesn't make him any less powerful! ISKANDAR is a MALE PYROAR whom guards this Base's flag. He's a bit on the testy side, however, and is particularly determined to protect his prize! Prideful as he is - he cannot stand cowards and requires the intruder to hold a sense of VALOR and WILLPOWER.

As such, those with the COURAGE to travel right into the lion's jaws will find themselves rewarded with this base's flag! Smother your fear and shout your pride and this fierce predator will consider you worthy! Only the DEFIANT and the BRAVE shall surmount this trial and come out on top! Bear your fangs, challenger!

IVAN, THE WANDERER: Beware, challenger! For there is another who dwells in this place! The fearsome IVAN! A Marowak whom wanders around the base with the intention to TEST you! While one may mistake him as the Guardian, he is in fact simply a wanderer who - like you wishes to challenge the Guardian! But know this!

By showing your WIT and SKILL you may BEFRIEND him! If so, he will guide you DIRECTLY to the Guardian past all of the traps and tricks! Show him your INGENUITY with a STUNNING DANCE! To gain this, wanderer's recognition! FAIL and he may just lead you ASTRAY!

TRAPS: Several FAKE FLAGS scattered throughout the base! Various DEAD END paths, and the occasional pillars of STEAM. Did I mention it's really HOT in here?

DECORATIONS: Various fake bones, ores, gold, and a statue of a PYROAR.

Simba stood at a precipice high above Mount Chimney's crater and bellowed loudly, rattling the bones inside his rider's lower body. The two were on the prowl, ready to catch more fire-type Pokémon for the Leader's Gym when he could have sworn he heard a Pokémon cry similar to that of his mount. Investigating, he happened on a large Pokémon den that hissed with jets of steam. It was a good thing fire-types were not only good at emitting heat, but shielding their riders from excessive heat as well!

When the den widened, so did Josh's eyes when they caught Iskandar, a Pyroar almost as big as Simba, that looked like he could pick a fight at any moment! As the Guardian's NOBLE ROAR shuddered not once, but twice, Josh's ears rung for a few seconds only due to the distance between the two Pyroar. Rather than a battle of claws, this would be a battle of volume.

And that was one Simba wasn't going to lose.

Josh cupped his hands around his mouth as part of his Z-Pose, then spread them wide at an obtuse angle as though they were exploding outward from him. Covering his ears, he cried, "HYPER VOICE!"

Josh squinted as the vibration from the sonic discharge rocked him. While it wasn't numbing like Aslan's was, it was still disorienting for him. To have a shouting match with a Pyroar and not flee in terror was more than a sufficient display of BRAVERY and COURAGE for Iskandar to reward him with the flag of the Lion's Den.

The guardian of the volcanic secret base waved its magnificent mane of fire, and let out a Noble Roar, challenging a certain cosplayer to a test of valor. "Let's show them what we've got! Go, Simba!"

Andrea's shiny Nidoking was called Simba not because he was a lion, but because he was a king. And he fought like a king, the earth itself bending to his will, pillars of magma erupting from the ground. The kingliest of Nidos charged forward like a one-man army, raising his arm to block a steady stream of fire that came out of the Pyroar's mouth. Once he had closed the distance, he decked them in the jaw with a Poison Jab.

The great Iskandar recoiled from the attack, but stood proud. Impressed by the Nidoking's utter defiance, he smiled as much as a lion could smile, and rewarded the human girl with a flag.

Through the fire and the heat of Mount Chimney, there was the view of a secret abode with the blonde and her Samurott going inside. They were facing the literal jaws of a male Pyroar being one of the base's guardians though the large fire type would be waiting for the courage to be demonstrated in front of the lion. Musashi, as a sea lion and not really a literal lion, would stand in front of his trainer to try to give the courageous act the Pyroar needed in a test to gain the flag. [break][break]

As the fire sent from the jaws of the lion Pokemon were blocked by the Water Pulse, the samurai-like sea lion Pokemon would get in close to use Razor Shell and close the distance with his seamitar, using the Razor Shell move. The bravery being seen by the Pyroar would allow the duo to get the flag and be outside of the base.

Sweat beads on the length of his neck, tickling against the curve of a scar as Angelo ventures through thick heat.

And even though the ash swirls in the air, caught in a punishing draught with no reprieve in sight, they push onwards.

Their merry little band marching straight to the prize.

At the front an Alolan Marowak struts, blazing bones twirling like a baton, while a Dragapult and her two Dreepy join in. Twirling and flickering around it in a ghostly, DRAGON DANCE dance troupe.

Apparently IVAN THE WANDERER had appreciated the tricky LOCK-ON and INFESTATION they'd used to slip by the Pyroar. The Alolan Marowak leading them straight to the correct flag.

“We make a good team.” He grins behind the bandana he'd pulled up to his nose, twirling the flag between his fingers like a coin - enough to earn a nod.

Not even the base guardian would be able to stand in her path when the emotions boil hotter than the bubbling lava. Swift and precise, she closes in on the Pyroar with her shadow Quagsire, methodically cutting off each of his paths and leaving him with no other choice but to yield.[break][break]

Even when he tries to lash out in a last ditch effort to preserve his pride, she doesn't flinch, glaring Iskandar down until he hesitates and gets battered away by Bernie's Frenzy Plant.[break][break]

"You put up a good fight, you just caught me in a bad mood." She sighs, reaching out for the flag and claiming one for her own. "Let's fight again another time, alright?"

After returning from the Mirage Palace with Alba Evovae , quite the surprise awaited Shalin on the way back: a snarling male Pyroar that reminded Shalin of Scar, the Pyroar she caught near Death Crater in Mount Chimney. She was no stranger to heat; the Lion's Den was no warmer than the interior of the Mirage Pslace's lower floor!

She calmly and bravely approached Iskandar, walking behind him before making a move for the Pyroar's back! It was a little easier than she anticipated; perhaps the Pyroar was still on the mend? It didn't feel like it when she rode the lion, though; Iskandar did not hold back with the powerful thrashing that tested every bit of skill the young Ranger had! While it wasn't a traditional battle of fang and claw, the wild child and lion tested their strength against one another!

At first, Shalin was having the time of her life while the Pyroar got WORKED UP. She let out a shout, wincing as Iskandar bucked powerfully right beneath where his rider sat. She floated above the lion's back, the recoil knocking her hands loose from the brown fur they were buried in. A second sharp kick sent her flying completely and knocking her out against a cliff wall not too far from one of the den's vents. When she came to, she found herself at the den's entrance, the base's flag on top of her.
