"Alright, Alphamax, full thrust," Josh commanded his Garchomp as they roared past Lilycove City and toward open ocean. He could feel the rumble of his mount's bio-thrusters as they spooled up to maximum power as the trainer requested. With a scream from the dragon announcing their presence, he who flew across the morning skies, Josh making sure to coast high enough to stay out of the way of low-flying Pokémon that could send them both tumbling down to the sea.

As the sea was flying past Josh, a small island almost completely inaccessible by land caught his eye, a large number of Wingull flocking around a campsite near its center. Landing would be a bit tricky, as the Garchomp would need most of the island to use as runway. After some great airmanship from them both, Josh and his dragon touched down. Several Wingull, including the one near the cave mouth and staring at his backpack, not at him directly, looked quite ravenous, as if they hadn't had a thing to eat in a while. As soon as he took his backpack off to retrieve one of the sandwiches he was about to give to his Garchomp, the entire flock was all over him, devouring not only the one he had in his hand, but several others within his bag! At least the waterfowl would let him pass now, but he was going to be famished by the time he returned to Lilycove. Flying took it out of him!

The camp's flag was in sight, which he snatched for himself. Then he caught sight of the paper sprawled over the wall, signed by a couple of people he knew. One he was on good terms with, and one he was not on such good terms with. He signed the guest list and let Alphamax make a single claw imprint to his remark: "Your island needs a longer runway."

What a cozy little island, to call one's home. Makoto couldn't help a fond smile as Nobusuma touched down on one of the cliffs forming the edges of the island - allowing them to get down from the crobat's saddle, before they returned him to his pokeball. The sound of waves crashing against the cliff-side, of wingulls crying out as they fly by, of scuttling krabbies and corphish... Whoever lived here had a choice piece of real estate, in their opinion, being so close to nature like this.

But, Makoto was here to visit a secret base - not to sightsee. And as they approached the cave that the base was surely housed in, they were met with a wingull - the sleeker and more well-kept feathers a clear sign as to this one having a trainer, rather than being a wild pokemon. "You must be the guardian," Makoto mused out loud - watching as the avian pokemon dropped down before them. He didn't appear outwardly hostile - at least for now - but it was clear they were not getting past. Unless...

"... Perhaps I could convince you to let me pass?" Makoto hummed with a gentle smile - offering a few soft caramel treats, that they usually picked up for their own pokemon.

The offering appeared to be sufficient - one by one, Puck would pluck the caramels out of Makoto's palm. And with a satisfied expression, the wingull would make off with his snack - roosting in a nearby tree, and chomping away at the sweets.

With the way clear, Makoto would step into the cave proper - a simple setup, with a pot for the flags, and a board of sorts set up for people to write upon. Makoto would look over at the names and messages of past visitors across the expanse - an ever growing mural - and well... Smiling gently, they couldn't help it when they'd pick up a marker, and began writing a message of their own, to add to it all...
