It wouldn’t take too long before even he would spot icicles—ridiculous as they were—growing from the trees that he passed—what the hell was up with that?!

Where had this fucking avalanche come from, and why—

As the snow continued to rage beneath him, he thought he saw not one, but two people who were unaware of what was coming on their path—

“Move!” he yelled from atop the Metagross, which then quickly dove down in order to attempt to use Telekinesis to lift both of them up into the air before getting out of harm’s way!

“Don’t panic! Ro’s got you both!” he would shout, as he looked over his shoulder and saw that the snow seemed to be never-ending, like there was something causing all of it to come out at once.

“Are you both alright?” he turned to ask the both of them.

Moving through the snow that still didn't seem to waver at all, it was like a powerful never-meltice was cast over the cold and snow so that it would just keep going forever... Yuina pondered over El's words though, they were awfully close to the swamps just north of them where they'd unleashed a series of tera crystals over the landscape...[break][break]
"Gosh... I'd hate to think so... But, you're probably right, they seemed to spread really fast, I guess it couldn't be out of the question," Yuina wondered, until the ground beneath them began to rumble and shake... And there was a shout that came from just above them.[break]
An avalanche was heading right for them and someone coming down on a giant metallic Pokemon was getting ready to snatch them out of the way before they got caught in it. Yuina only had enough reflex to return Ayashi as the deer huffed and stomped through the growing mess of snow before she was being lifted into the air.[break][break]
"El, hang on," Yuina called, reaching to make sure that El could miss the avalanche just barely...[break]
"Yeah... I think we're alright," Yuina breathed against the cold, her breath heaving in heavy clouds around her face.

It came almost as quickly as it warned of its arrival; with the avalanche tumbling after them at breakneck speeds, Sio held tightly onto Makoto as Yurei tried to outrun it. She grit her teeth, hissing through them as the tension once again built itself up.

She couldn't bring herself to look at the oncoming torrent of ice and snow- it may as well have been Kyurem itself reigning fear and terror down upon the party. A trap. A horrible trap befell her, and she had no true way to protect herself.

Staying stone cold silent, she can only wish- frantically, pleadingly that this would all be over as soon as it started. She can't even admire the show of agility, quickly grabbing onto Makoto's hand and pulling herself up to climb onto the tree- to hold on for dear life. Well, here was to hoping...

It was - perhaps - a miracle that the tree was able to hold up to the avalanche. But, it did, and it stood strong even as the snow below began to settle.

As Jack calls to her, Ettie perks and glancing to him. "Ettie okay! Pack okay, too!" She confirmed with a smile. Anne was safe in her pokeball, and Anat was safe on another branch. "Is Jack and friend-pack okay?"

He didn't seem hurt, nor did his Absol, though - at least from where Ettie was perched.

So for now, she would carefully climb down from the tree - Anat jumping down alongside her - to assess the surroundings. Which was to say, that there was even more snow than before. But that wasn't an issue to Ettie - all she needed to do was let Anne out once more, and climb up onto the Lycanroc's back, to avoid trudging through the deep white.

Even for all the stress of the situation, it only took a glance to see that the gears in Makoto's head were turning as they recalled Yurei, who wouldn't otherwise be able to ascend the tree. Up, and up, Makoto climbs - and in turn extends a hand down to Sio to help her up. "We- we need to get a bit higher." They mutter - their nerves on edge, fear grasping their heart, yet able to remain collected enough for a plan.

They had to act, after all - and they were no stranger to acting in stressful situations.

Once they found a proper perch though, they'd hang on tight - one arm wrapping to hold Sio close, the other around the trunk. "Hang on as tight as you can... The tree's gonna start shaking soon, I think..." They weren't sure how well this tree would hold - but well...

... It had to - outrunning it was most certainly not an option, in this place. Not when the distant avalanche sounded like the distant roar of Kyurem.

She held onto his back while Alexei replies that he didn’t have any idea how the avalanche had happened while they were talking. Her Mismagius continues to battle the ghosts that follow them in the air with Shadow Ball and Mystical Fire firing at the spectral figures. While the attacks of fiery and shadowy magic make the specters slow down, Mana fires a Dazzling Gleam and Thunderbolt to keep the ghosts away from them when the shiny Braviary would make his landing.[break][break]

As Elise gets off from Kyouya’s back, she sees that the remaining ghosts who were after them were still on their tail. “I’m alright, thank you for your concern.” Her response came with a little nod as she turns to her Mismagius. “You need to keep them off our tail when you can.” Mana's frown isn't merry since she was getting annoyed by the spirits being so relentless in their chase towards them and tries to think of a way to distract them.

In the face of the quickly-encroaching avalanche, El wasn't worried for themself or their pokemon; Baron was agile and able to climb, and Ysera could fly.

Yuina and Ayashi, however, were another story - with Ayashi unable to outrun the snow and unable to climb.

However, Baron had an idea of what to do - and it took only a mental nudge from him for El to catch on, and pull out their Tera Orb. Terastallizing into Dragon-type, the Iron Valiant turned to face the fast-approaching snow - and with a swing of his polearm, he sent out a wave of draconic flames to hold back the onslaught!

Which bought precious time, for Laurence's Metagross to yank El and Yuina both to safety with Telekinesis. Though El yelped - caught off guard - they were no stranger to being carried about by their own Alakazam's psychic abilities. They were more than happy to - once on the Metagross - to hang on tight to the steel-type as they watched the snow below.

Meanwhile, Baron would ride upon Ysera's back to similarly avoid the avalanche below, the Hydreigon ascending to fly alongside Ro.

"I-I'm alright," El confirmed, just a hair shaken. That had been an experience... "T-thanks for the save," They added to Laurence - smiling faintly.

Once Kyouya had finally found a place to alight well away from the avalanche, he let out a sigh of relief.

“A-as long as the heebie-jeebies stay well away f-from us, we’re good,” he breathed out as he recalled the Braviary; the better to give him some rest. Because who knew what he would be busting out next; in case they needed to make another quick getaway!

“You know…” he continued once they’d managed to get a move on from where they’d alighted, “…I wish we could find a way out of here.”

Nothing about making a practical wish every once in a while, right?

(Plus answers as to where all that snow had suddenly come from!)

The Absol that was lounging on the thick branch nodded their companion’s way, and Jack waved from where he was hanging onto not too long afterward.

“Yeah, I’m alright!” he confirmed, watching and waiting until all the snow had finally stopped slushing down… which would take a while, all things considered.

Eventually, the snow would come to a stop and it would be safe enough for them to climb down from the tree; his Absol taking a leap and then landing among the white. Thankfully she had a horn, so it was easy to spot where she was amidst the snow…

I wish we could find answers on how to get out of here! he thought to himself as he followed down afterward, gauging the distance to be close enough when he jumped down from where he was hanging on.

“You think, if we follow this snow, we’ll find answers?” he asked her once he was on the back of his own Absol. No way was he going to trudge through the deep!

“Good work,” he nodded in El’s direction; he’d spotted what the strange amalgamation of a Gardevoir and Gallade had done; to give them enough time for him to grab them and hoist them up into the air while the snow rumbled beneath them.

“Have any of you like, found clues on how to get out of this place?” he asked them some time later, while the Metagross looked for a safe place for all of them to land, rushing snow aside. It was dangerous to land on the treacherous white, for the moment at least.

It was moments like this when Sio was more than relieved that Wisp and Itiá could float- that they were able to go up with her and avoid the wrath of the coming avalanche. Up and up Sio climbs along, gripping Makoto's hand tightly in her own. Fear twists and rips at her lungs and heart- and she's just barely able to think past the constant mental repetition. Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves. Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves.

Something Makoto could even come to notice, in fact, was the fact that the detective, usually oh so talkative, was stone cold silent. That she couldn't even bring herself to utter a single word, helplessly nodding along with the thief's instructions.

Her knuckles whiten with the grip she has- deathly firm, digging into tree bark and flesh alike. She'd have to apologize later if she hurt them- when her head was clearer. She keeps taking deep breaths, slowly steadying despite the catatrophic cacophony of the avalanche. She's fine. Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves. She'd be fine. She knew she'd be.

Ettie considers Laurence's suggestion to follow the snow upwards - gazing in the indicated direction. After a few moments of thought, she nods. "We go," She speaks in agreement, nudging Anne up the mountainside. Perhaps if they went in that direction, they'd figure out the source of the avalanche...?

Anne and Anat both could navigate the snowy mountainside with relative ease - though they haven't experienced many winters quite this snowy, they had seen enough to have a good idea of where to place one's paws. Of how to avoid slipping, on the slick ground beneath that pillowy-soft snow.

During the trek though, Ettie would pull out a few berries to nibble on - occasionally sharing one with Anne. Jerky, freshly-picked berries, and the like were good eating when on the move... But the cold had Ettie craving something warm and freshly-cooked, like a haunch over a campfire. Something juicy, that she could really sink her teeth into.

Just beyond this snowy expanse, what may they find...?

As the avalanche had headed towards them all, sure to be filled with debris and icicles and who knows what else, Yuina worked as fast as she could as she was lifted off of the ground. Ayashi bounded through the snow for only a couple of moments before she returned the deer to his Pokeball, in favor of Daikenki whom she knew could bear the cold and the icy snow just a bit better.[break]
Along side Baron, Yuina tapped her own Tera orb to give Daikenki his power, and he slashed through the on coming waves of the avalanche in time with Baron using his Razor Shell.[break][break]
Yuina held fast to the Metagross that had swooped in to save them both, and below as Daikenki maintained himself above the snow, the avalanche settled, completely resetting the maze and all of its contents it seemed...[break]
"N-no... Not yet... We we-were going to try t-to keep m-moving north-th, to try and f-find a way out...," Yuina admitted, while she and El had made great strides in not dying thus far, they hadn't been able to figure out anything about how to actually beat the maze yet...

The tight grip that Sio has draws a soft hiss out of Makoto, but they do not draw any mind to it; instead simply squeezing Sio closer, in the hopes of providing at least a little comfort in a stressful situation. The silence is met with a sympathetic glance.

As the wave of snow hits the tree though, it indeed begins to rattle under the onslaught, and Makoto has to tighten their grip on the tree as well. But as they listen past the roar of the tumbling snow, the creaking of the tree is not a comforting sound.

They aren't sure if it'll hold. But they have a plan.

"Hold on to me, tight as you can - I need to reach my pokeballs." They mutter to Sio with urgency - reluctantly letting go of her so that they could reach for their belt.

Landing on one of the lower branches, Tsukiko would be sent out - and though the branch creaked a bit under the large fox's weight, she was able to remain out of the avalanche's reach. Then, came the Tera Orb. With a brilliant show of light, Tsukiko would take on a crystalline and pink-hued appearance, a heart-shaped crown resting atop her head. Her illumina markings seemed to shine vividly, in response to the terastallization.

"Springtide Storm, push the snow back!"

And with a shrill howl from the fox, the wind would rise to a shriek to match - a whirlwind of frosty pink petals forming, with the tree safe at the eye of the storm. Any snow caught in this wind was tossed about away from the tree, forcing it to flow to either side.

When the storm began to die down, so too had the avalanche passed them by. They'd be okay.

Tsukiko, seemingly paying no mind to reading the room now that the danger had passed, would give a cheery bark up to Makoto and Sio both, her tails wagging eagerly.

Makoto, glancing to the fox, would simply let out a fondly exasperated sigh. "You did good, Tsukiko." They spoke, so as to not leave her hanging.

And glancing to Sio, they'd question "Are you okay?"

El exhaled softly, as everyone floated on high, above the avalanche that rumbled below. Ro was practically Rudolph, the way Laurence and he both dove in to help them!

At the question of clues though, El shook their head. "W-what Yuina said - we were... We were just t-trying to hang north a-and hope it'd... Get us s-somewhere." They spoke, adding "T-though... Heading for the peak is the most likely end-goal." That was where the Masked Maiden said to go, at the very least.

Which, on foot, trying to navigate the maze northward was painful. Now that they had some flight in the form of Ro, perhaps they could just fly towards the peak?
