kyle is too concentrated on his game to even focus on the conversation that both daphne and noah were having, as if being intoxicated wasn't enough to distract him from anything.

kyle takes the last ditch effort to actually sneakily jump closer to noah faber's position, and, in a not-so-subtle fashion, nudge towards him with every jump to make him fall off.

unfortunately, their game ends when the announcement rings throughout the beach. his arm wraps around noah's shoulders as he takes both of them away from the jump rope game.

bringing himself up close and personal, kyle brings his mouth to his ears. "wanna do that instead?" the fluctuation from being loud to being in a whisper-y mood can only attributed to alcohol.

tossing mareanie didn't sound on paper, but kyle just wants to go with the flow for now since he doesn't know what to do in a party.

After helping to scour the beach of the swarming Mareanie, Adrian left his Gyarados to roam the waters as a deterrent, though he wondered if that was such a great idea to begin with. Maybe not.

But he'd put that behind him and headed over towards where he'd saw Serena Malcolm talking with the ogre-like male elijah gardner. With a stature like that and green hair, Adrian wondered if people ever called him Shrek. Probably not, though; only Adrian was silly enough to think it.

As he padded over to them the smell of boardwalk barbecue filled his nostrils with a savory aroma that perverted his desires. As he found his way over to them, he gave a faint introduction before shamelessly interrupting the pair with his hunger.

"Hey Pipes. And hey," he offered with a bit of a furled brow as he deigned to give his name. "I'm Adrian, Piper's cousin." He gestured a wave hello with his hand that might've been an attempt at a handshake before Adrian dismissed the idea.

"You trying to find some food, Pipes?"

"Barbecue"

it’s like an anchoring point - maybe his vision blurs at the edges, and the space behind his eyes feels like it’s filled with cotton - but dominic catches the changes in DAPHNE STONE’s body language with relative ease. she is actually blushing, and he’s already forgotten exactly what he could have done to prompt it.

this is so cute. this is so easy. dominic exhales sharply - a disbelieving bark of laughter that is only slightly amused - and throws back his head to take a shot of something clear that smells strongly of gin. the TASTE OF FRUIT lingers on his tongue and dominic pauses to think for a moment because it occurs to him that he drinks with the explicit purpose to get drunk.

he’s not willing to admit this shortcoming to her.

"huh. something like a mimosa or bocce ball if you like citrus," he drawls, smile still lingering on his lips as he pushes an offering toward her - a glass of pale liquid toward her, its rim flecked with white salt. "or a margarita."

commotion on the beach prompts dominic to crane his head and watch as mareanie emerge from the waves. he quirks a brow and reaches for the klefki in his pocket, urging it to go assist the trainers. he’ll keep an eye out on his pokemon and the wild mareanie, but he’s not quite willing to leave his present company for them.

the klefki begins to swing its keys at the mareanie, smacking them in a PLAY ROUGH, and dominic feels around for an empty pokeball capsule just in case.

"Pachirisu Float for the sweet l— huh?"

The bartender had finished decorating the drink with a little pink umbrella and placed it on the bar counter for the amethyst-eyed cutie to drink... only to realize she had gone! In fact, he started to realize something was amiss when crowds of people began to head in one direction amidst murmurs and shocked exclamations. He propped himself up to lean over the bar counter to try and see.

What the heck?

Adelaide, in the meantime, used her small frame to navigate the crowds easily, weaving between larger bodies with ease. She was hot, there was no doubt about it. The sweat soaked through her thin white shirt and there was nothing more she wanted right now than a nice cold drink... and a chance to change into her bikini, too. Without either, however, she would make do with her Fan Rotom.

The possessed fan would hover above her dutifully, fanning her with every opportunity, but also cognizant of the trial ahead they would soon face.

"Trouble ahead, Addy, bzzt! Don't get too close or you'll get stung, okay? Bzzt!"

Just as the warning had been made, Adelaide finally broke through the crowd to find the scene that had marvelled them so: a stampede of Mareanie emerging out from the ocean and steadily traversing the beach as they trampled beach umbrellas and towels without care. She giggled at the sight. "What are they doing? Maybe they just want to be part of all the fun, RX-78!" She suggested, looking up at her Fan Rotom with a wide smile and a nod.

"Their stingers don't sound very fun! Bzzt! 'The first symptom of its sting is numbness. The next is an itching sensation so intense that it's impossible to resist the urge to claw at your skin, bzzt.' Of course I don't have any skin, but I imagine that's very unpleasant! Bzzzzzt!"

Addy sucked in air through her teeth and closed her mouth in a thoughtful hum as she looked at the Mareanie, then at the crowd gawking at them behind her. "Okay, okay... looks like we'll need to gently send them back home then. Corral them with Double Team, RX!"

With nothing more than an approving 'bzzt!' to signal his confirmation, RX-78 was swift to glide forward before surrounding the group of Mareanie approaching them with a Double Team. "Now Thunder Wave! Then blow them back!" Adelaide continued, watching as her Fan Rotom executed the tactic without fail and sent the poisonous beauties splashing into the ocean.

If one managed to slip past the gust and reach her, however, there was no doubt she would take some time to crouch down and befriend it! Despite her Rotom's warning about its nasty sting!

Stormy stares at him for a long moment as he turns his nose away from her. His scoff only drives home her suspicion, and yet she responds with amusement rather than frustration. Character development.[break][break]

As she moves to lead him away and towards the smell of food-cart food, she's pelted from behind by a stray BULLET SEED from her bad luck and Toucannon's lack of attention to detail. The hand she had extended to grab onto Fernando's hand to pull him away instead rubs the back of her head.

His tendency to claim that 'that's how his face always looks' is abandoned in lieu of keeping the lighthearted mood of the party. However, he dismisses her claims of hunger, still succumbing to following her lead. "Am I your scapegoat to pig out?"

The sudden BULLET SEED causes him to reel away, keeping a distance and looking back at the source. It comes to no surprise that it's her own Pokemon. Strangely, he finds it both disappointing and humorous. "Maybe you should check on your bird before worrying about me."

DAPHNE STONE leaves them— and as if she were the last plug in a leaking dam, chaos spills forth like a running river.

"wait, holy shit. kyle!"

as kyle saunters over to the streaming mareanie, noah bolts after him. he waves his arms, the sun gilding them like wings as he attempts to flag his boyfriend down.

when the elite four grabs a hold of a squirming mareanie, noah quickly seizes the other side. before the sea invader can spew poisons, they toss the creature back. it splashes into the water like a rock.

noah palms his own face. with a huff, he hoists kyle into his arms. as the flap of kyle's unbuttoned shirt wags like a poochy's taunting tail, noah carries him like a bride. they hop over the threshold that beach officials have made to defend against the mareanie.

he keeps kyle hoisted close. "you're crazy."

Well, it would seem that she wasn't terrible at jump rope after all! She managed to stick through it to the very end. Quite proud of her accomplishment, Ruby's eyes returned back to the crowd. She couldn't just waste all her time playing these games, as fun as it was. She had someone of importance to actually attempt to talk to. Now, just where was she...

As her eyes scanned the crowd, she was starting to realize just how many people were actually here. So many familiar faces and unfamiliar ones too. Some, she had only seen during times of tragedy, but it looked like people were having fun all the same. Her smile began to widen as her eyes glanced out to the sea, only to suddenly see the wave of Mareanie crawling up onto the shore. That wasn't a good sign. As soon as she watched event organizers begin to scramble to get people to help keep them off the beach, Ruby let out a soft sigh. Looks like her conversation was going to be delayed yet again.

Walking over towards the beach with a clam strut, Ruby suddenly sent out both of her Indeedees. Darling and Dear stood right by her side, as their abilities Psychic Surge came into effect. A psychic terrain began to spread across the beach near her location, the pinky whisps of energy floating around them. "Expanding Force, push them back." Both of her Pokemon nodded their heads as they raised their hands. Suddenly, a massive wave of energy expanded from both of them, slamming into the offending Mareanies and sending them flying like a wingull backwards into the ocean. Hopefully, the double wave of energy would send the rest scrambling back, paired with everyone else's help in the matter.

[attr="class","hearrmenand2"]Piper's smug grin stayed plastered on her face as she watched the green haired man next to her admire her work. She was quite confident in her skills. Maybe she wasn't the best but she had crafted a nice brand for herself. And since her cousin hired her she'd been getting a bit more traction as others viewed her work of him. She was on the 'come up' that was for sure.

"Nice photos," he said as he turned to look at her. Piper gave a 'humble' shrug of her shoulders but it was obvious she was basking in his praises. "Sure. Fine. I'll bite. What's the fee?" Hook, line and sinker. Piper bent down as she rummaged through her bag once more, "Excellent. Now that can be decided later once I get to know more of what you're expecting." She said as she handed him a card with her information on it. Seems like Piper was always prepared. "The consultation will be easy. And don't worry, since it's your first time I'll be gentle~" She said with a wink, clearly still teasing, albeit a bit more suggestively this time. But that's just how Piper was. No filter. "I'll give you a discount since you're funny." she said as she motioned a cross over her heart with her pinky.

"Hey Pipes. And hey," the familiar voice of her cousin came up from behind her. Her amber orbs immediately narrowed as she turned around to look at him. However his expression caught her off guard. He stared at the man she'd been chatting up with a scowl. "I'm Adrian, Piper's cousin." he introduced himself coolly with a wave of his hand before turning his attention on the blonde again. Piper raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what the deal was. "You trying to find some food, Pipes?"

She crossed her arms over her chest at shrugged. "I don't know. Someone doesn't know how to answer their phone." She said with a clear pout, but she was already getting up. "Sure, let's make it quick though. It's too hot to mingle." She whined before turning back to the green haired man. "Guess I didn't introduce myself either, I'm Piper. Want anything while I'm up? Consider it the commemoration of a successful partnership." She said with a cheeky grin flashed his way as she leaned against Adrian to slide her flip flops on.

ack, how embarrassing.

a stone, of all people, softening up during an event where the festivities were abundant. she doesn't remember the last time she could kick back and relax, what with sticking to the office like a busy bee almost every waking hour of the day. she doesn't recall the last time she's interacted with a man with ease (the previous few times weren't too bad, though one in particular stood out to be one of the most anxiety-inducing moments of her life).

a fruity drink, possibly, is exactly what she'd need. something to sweeten the day, or something to help with the heat. regardless, his recommendations were more than appreciated. she mulls it over, making a mental note of the names he listed. hopefully, she could remember them. hopefully, she could remember them long enough for her to actually have a drink with her brother sometime. maybe in the near future.

"i do enjoy fruity drinks, very much~" and when he brings up a.. what was that? margarita? her interest is piqued, enough for her to give a curious glance over to the glass of alcohol. though tentative, she gives a glance up to the man then offers a smile, before bringing the glass to her lips. the fruity taste overpowers what alcohol was in it, which was always more than welcomed.

"ah, this is really nice." her expression lights up, taking another sip. she pays little mind to the mareanie swarm on the beach, seeing more than enough trainers punting them into the ocean. daphne casually leans against the counter, while emerald eyes maintain their gaze on the man.

"i don't think i've gotten your name, either. mine is daphne~" she chimes once again.

THE BEACH

AGAIN, IN THE DISTANCE, small bright veins tickle the horizons. some spot it, believing it to be lightning, while others see them as the flickering sails of passing boats.[break][break]

but the sun shines brightly. several beach umbrellas are caught by the wind and somersault across the beach. a pair of squirtle chase after them, cerulean hands outstretched as they kick up sand.[break][break]

furthermore, league rangers take care of the remaining mareanie. the temporary barricade set up to separate them from the public is removed.[break][break][break]

MINI-GAME #5: FIRE DANCING

a group of alolan marowak and their trainers have begun offering challenges to beach-goers: twirl batons (that are lit with fire) without dropping them for at least 30 seconds![break][break]

to succeed, you must roll 60 or higher (roll requirement)[break][break]

although some may believe the challenge to be reckless or ridiculous, those participating are charged with laughter. their bodies are clumsy flailing shapes that kick sand and blur the air with the fire's heat. the marowak watch on. solemnly. they form a backdrop of seemingly judgmental gazes, but one may surmise that is simply due to the markings on their boney headpieces.[break][break][break]

THE BEACH PARTY is not your typical, casual event! like the winter ball held last year, there will occasionally be moderator posts with random occurrences or mini-games for your characters to partake in. therefore, please read the instructions below carefully. there are some rules you must follow.[break][break][break]

this beach party is a mega thread, meaning there are no separate threads and everyone posts in this single thread.
your character may interact with other characters in this thread; however, always remember common courtesies of roleplaying.
all of your characters may participate in this event; however, only for each mini-game only one character of yours can participate. however, if you possess another character, they may participate in the next mini-game instead of the previous character, etc.

FIRE DANCING

you do not need to participate in this mini-game.
if you participate, please indicate that your character is rolling for the fire dancing mini-game in notes.
choose one of your characters to participate by rolling to hit! if you roll at least 60 or higher (roll requirement), your character will have successfully fire danced for 30 seconds! they only have once chance.
bonuses from the drink menu apply, and your character may win possible rewards.
there is no specified deadline for the fire dancing mini-game, but once the next mini-game arrives, the fire dancing mini-game can not be participated in.

DRINK MENU

occasionally, there will be a drink menu featured in a moderator's post. your character can select one drink in anticipation for an upcoming mini-game to assist your rolls.
your character does not need to be icly drinking the drink; however, if do wish for them to be drinking them, feel free to make them a little more "fun".
there is no drink menu for this round's current mini-game.

hurling back a bunch of pokemon was hard work and kaz was starting to break into a sweat. he was a little bit surprised about it seeing as how he didn't seem bothered by the sun but considering all the psychical activity he's been doing its no wonder. so he needed to cool down and luckily the nearest snack bar had restocked on his new fave pachirisu floats that managed to both quench his thirst and cool him down at the same time. as he downed the drink he noticed a familiar sight, a bunch of alolan marowaks having a dance party that was attracting a crowd as well as people who wanted to try their hand at fire dancing.

"now that looks like fun." rushing over kaz grabbed himself a baton from one of the trainers as they lit it on fire and he got to work showing off his skills. it helped that his own marowak had trained him to do this sort of thing before so at first he was doing completely fine as the light of the flames sparkled off his sweaty bare torso as more sweat raced down his chest and abs.

[attr="class","mimi"]where pacifidlog was quiet and comfort, slateport beach is everything she'd expect from a summer vacation. golden sands like she's only seen in ads, sparkling waters that make other beaches pale in comparison, a bar filled with fun-looking cocktails, and even a fire show. mimi couldn't simply watch over it from the beach house she'd rented; she had to come down and experience it for herself.

she doesn't stop to look for anyone in the crowd. the only problem with this party? she doesn't know anybody. that poppin' pachirisu float is begging for her attention though, and she has no reason not to answer its call. she hangs back by the bar, watching the performances of both professionals and first-timers with a smile.

perhaps she'd meet someone today. for now, she's happy to enjoy the show.
