How had she gotten here? [break][break] Right. Because the Pachirisu Float looked completely delectable (and yes, it was), and she had found coming here without a swimsuit didn't exactly make her blend in. With her focus on saving money for food, one would think that she didn't have any swimsuits, but those people would be wrong. For aquatic missions, she had a suit. Not a bikini, just a one piece swimsuit, but she didn't think she stood out too much. Perhaps showed off the scarring on her back and arms a little too much, but she didn't notice most of the people caught staring. [break][break] Her Pokemon frolicked in the sand and ocean, except for Kjoll, who she hadn't found a large enough space for him on the crowded beach. Avoiding the people who took today as a drinking day, Kaida wandered near the watermelon splitting and, in an act that surprised herself, spoke, "I wanna split it." [break][break] So here she was, salivating over the taste of something sweet to eat, she raised the stick over her head and swung her dizzy self at the watermelon. There was a drink stand handing out taste testers and apparently the pachi-popper whatsit was the drink of the night. She indulged eagerly, more than happy to take advantage of the free shit.[break][break] She could already see a crowd forming around the first mini-game of the night. With the enticing and electrified fruity taste of her drink, she would practically bounce up to the opportunity to smash the watermelon.[break][break] "What's this? A chance to beat Lance Vollans in a competition? Hell yes, I'm down."[break][break] Of course, the woman also offers a cheery greeting to Kaida Adachi, pointing at their matching drinks and making it very clear that she was enjoying it and hoped she was too.[break][break] But she'd set her glass down for a moment in order to rub her hands together. And then she let someone else blindfold her before she took aim and tried to smash the watermelon. Clad in a black tank and dark blue shorts with white alolan flower print, the black-haired royal sets his pachirisu float down on the bar counter before hopping off his stool to stretch his arms. The drink was far sweeter than he'd imagined, and not his usual taste. But it certainly had him feeling energized. Enough so that he was compelled to join in on the fun of the watermelon splitting contest. Slipping his feet out of his sandals, he turns over his shoulder to regard the carefully clad belle sitting under the shade of the tiki bar. "Mind covering Herschel's eyes, love? He doesn't appear to be taking this all too well." He plainly remarks, shifting his eyes to the green Applin sitting on the stool between them. The latest watermelon to be whacked has rendered it rather... astonished.  Regardless, Remiel saunters over to grab one of the long sticks for himself. Placing himself in front of a watermelon he has claimed as his target, the young royal plants his feet firmly into the sand, denoting his experience with martial arts and fencing.  ▲ There were a few known faces around, Skyler thought, spying Lance and Stormy somewhere between the throngs of people having fun at the beach party. She kept losing them in the crowd though. Were they turning invisible or somethin'? Skyler frowned and looked down at her mostly empty drink, a pachirisu-something that had looked kind of dubious at first, but that in all honesty was delicious. The little colorful umbrella was sagging to the side and looked kind of sad. Maybe she should get another one of those? She noticed the banner at first, swaying in the gentle wind. Then she heard the shouted words 'split the watermelon' and she suddenly was pushing her way through the crowd, her excitement making her leave a few disgruntled people in her wake. Her sad, empty drink was pushed to the back of her mind as she took her turn trying to smash the watermelon. This was something she was an expert in. She grinned at the other contestants and popped her knuckles, grinning madly. "Watch this," she told them, blindfold in place. [attr="class","merkI"] [attr="class","merkpokesI"]       Ruby had to admit, this was exactly what she had pictured from Hoenn when she first arrived all those months ago. Back then, however, it had been covered in snow, something she had learned was incredibly uncommon for the region. However, she was quickly discovering that the heat was not super agreeable with her. Galarian weather was a bit more modest, colder temperatures on average. This heat was certainly a bit too much for her, but even she would feel quite foolish for missing a wonderful beach party. Slateport had, whether she truly realized it or not, had almost become a second home to her. Seeing all these people happy, playing in the sand, swimming in the water, it brought a smile to her face. Seeing the market restored alone was a beautiful reminder that no matter what happened, they'd keep persevering. A day of fun to bring joy to everyone's face was such a beautiful sight. Like chicken soup for the poor saint's soul. Wearing a simple one-piece swimsuit, paired with a wide sunhat and her purse, Ruby felt a tad bit awkward. She never worried about how she looked before, but within Slateport of all places, she felt the odd need to attempt to present herself in a more mature light. She was just a few months from being 17 after all, and 17 was almost an adult. Standing by herself for a while, Ruby's gaze traveled across the beach as she sipped away at her float. Honestly, the cool drink was incredibly satisfying, kind of tasting a bit fruity. Eventually, Ruby's gaze was grabbed by the people who attempted the watermelon smashing contest. She saw nothing of it at first, but after seeing a few people she recognized take a crack at it, mainly both Stormy Silph and Remiel Calcifet , she finally decided to give it a go as well. With a quiet smile, she pushed her way into the line. Giggling a bit at the adorable Thwackey, Ruby took a stick as she was spun around and blindfolded. Razz even made sure to wear clothing more appropriate to the summer with swim shorts, no shirt, but a windbreaker jacket with the hood up to still protect himself from the sun. He was comfortable until the little game was announced and his twin cats decided among themselves that it would be a great idea to get him involved. Razz just wanted to hide in the background, barely even gave the people around a glace to see if he knew anyone he was so intent on keeping low. [break][break]before he can say anything more, he's distracted by the sound of laughter behind him. marcel tenses as a pair of hands land on his shoulders, the sound of his cover name is the only thing that holds him back as the band of cloth is pressed to his eyes, his poppin' pachirisu swiped from his grip. the good-natured laugh that leaves him is not obviously forced.  Normally, Lars didn’t like the hot weather—which was ironic in itself considering he’d been living in Hoenn his entire life. Sure, he could tolerate late spring to early summer, however when it was mid-summer he wanted nothing more than to hide somewhere in a place where there was air conditioning and never go out unless the sun had gone down. Of course, today wasn’t that day—at least, not yet. It was still the late spring-early summer phase of the changing seasons, and this was the part of summer he could readily tolerate. Looking over at his arms, he wondered if he needed to apply more sun block. He was trying to get some kind of a suntan going, but then again… Well, well… watermelon splitting? Not exactly one of my best, but… he thought as he took a Poppin’ Pachirisu Float and downed the contents in one go. It tasted really nice, just the right bite and tang of blue lemonade and what he could distinctly pick out as… Sneaky, he thought with a grin as he made his way over to where the next watermelon had been placed, and taking a swing at it. @tag       nqzSph8a taking the higher roll! |

dominic sets down the drinks he was carrying for himself and his some cohort of companions with a delicacy that is atypical for him. maybe it's heatstroke or maybe it's some latent competitive edge or maybe - and its most likely this - its a result of all the other more acloholic drinks he's consumed, but something about the glistening watermelons beckons to him.
