Turning away from the craps table, Yumi flashed a beaming smile at vincenzo de luca. She had hoped her former employer and mentor would attend, and his choice of costume did not disappoint her.[break][break]

"I'm so glad you could make it," she said, briefly taking his arm. It was contact she had not allowed herself when she was still in his employment, but they were business partners now. "Thank you so much, Mr. de Luca."[break][break]

She gave a gracious nod back to Kosei Kiryu, who appeared to be Enzo's date. And then she was off to mingle more, barely hearing mint frost's approach. A dextrous hand swiped a champagne glass from one of the bar stations as she went.[break][break]

So crowded was the casino floor that Yumi almost collided with a young woman with pink hair near the bathrooms (Naomi Sato). The guest was wearing such a gorgeous ensemble that Yumi could not help but compliment her.[break][break]

"My, what a beautiful costume. The color brings out your eyes," she said matter-of-factly, her fashion designer's mind kicking into analytical gear. "Are you enjoying the grand reopening, miss?"[break][break]

Yumi lifted her gaze and locked eyes with a strange man (jayden cross) who was staring after the pink-haired woman, confusion plastered over his face.[break][break]

"Or is someone bothering you?" Yumi asked, her tone taking on the hard edge women's voices adopted when defending other women.

[attr="class","text"]The objective right now is to find jayden cross. In hindsight, it feels a bit foolish to have an arrived separately, but there’s no undoing it now. As a shiny dreepy flits around them, their sylveon peers through the crowd with placid blue eyes, hoping to assist her trainer in locating their partner. Both Pokémon meld well with Fern’s attire for the evening. Draped in patterned robes in a mixture of petal pink and turquoise, a matching set of shimmering wings fan out behind them. Dangling earrings and blossom-hue ribbons tie a short braid in their dark hair. Subtler rose gold shimmer accents their eye makeup. Coming together to paint a picture of springtime.[break][break]

The squawk of a familiar corviknight diverts Fern’s attention, and they’re delighted to know that Marza Volchitsa has somehow been roped into attendance. Initially, they decide to stake out by the bar so that they have an excuse to poke and prod her about why it is that she’s there (security? pah!!) It’s seems a reasonable plan as any, and they should have a clear vantage of the floor from there.[break][break]

But when they spot Mei Liu as they begin beelining for the bar, Fern is seized by the immediate and dire need to be nosy.[break][break]

“Mei, you look ethereal, but that’s to be expected,” they trill as they take her hands lightly, movements twisting in into a light spin so that her dress flairs out if she follows the movement and allows it. Fern’s mouth curves into a mischievous smile then, and he leans toward her conspiratorially. “Kuru might’ve already tipped you off, but I think I saw her over by the bar not long ago, if you’re looking~” They murmur the tip-off quietly, as if they half expect Marza Volchitsa to materialize behind him and yank him away from Mei.[break][break]

Yes, they will certainly revisit this later, and heckle Marza after she’s been flustered. That’ll be much more fun. “Tell Marzy I said hellooo.” They depart Mei’s company with a wink, and resume looking for Jayden.[break][break]

Once they finally spy him by a row of slot machines, their lips curl into a smile at the sight of him properly dressed in the costume they’d insisted he wear. The velvety soft ears of their sylveon twitch as she also spies the other admin—and more importantly, Lada. Danu trots forward, pleased to greet the umbreon with trilling coos and the tap of a rosy pink nose. Fern follows in her wake, Eostre conducting a flitting orbit around their head. But their attention is only on Jayden.[break][break]

“Oh, you decided to humor my whims, after all?” they tease as they approach, heart fluttering in their chest as their eyes connect with his. “My speculation was right—this look suits you.” A soft laugh follows as they reach up to poke the point of an ear. “Elf ears and all. The glitter, though, I was not expecting.” It’s not a bad touch. Not at all.[break][break]

It is only up close, though, that they can read the confusion in his expression. Their own soon furrows to mirror it. “…you good?”

The rolling of dice, the scent of alcohol and good times laced in the air. There was nothing more that an aspiring gambler might have been able to wander into as the night was young. Soyeon, a scientist that had spent the better part of her time at Rocket inside of a lab, had been curious about one of the heads' legitimate business outside of Rocket perimeters. She had never really been to a casino before, and walked inside the building with curious, fleeting eyes. Her attire was somewhat illfitting for her, as she had borrowed it form one of the dress stores near Sootopolis on the way to the party. It was a lavender one piece dress with no sleeves, attatching to her body at the neck as it exposed her chest and sides before tailing off into petal like flaps alongside cosmetic vines and such. Accenting this attire were a pair of similarly colored dark purple heels that clacked to announce her presence.

"M-Maybe I should have just come in a more simple dress?..." she asked herself, wandering over to some of the machines nearby. The colors, the lights, everything caused her eyes to lit up with fascination. The woman's hand reached to the button and would quickly go to gamble a little, hoping to see what kind of stuff she could win!

Many a good time had been had within the walls of Casino Starlight. Fond memories of friends and loved ones dwelt here, echoing throughout the opulent halls that BARNABY FINCH passed through. He'd liked it as it was, but now the business was reborn in a new light, under new ownership. None other than Yumi Hasegawa, in fact.[break][break]

Given the theme of the night, he'd decided on a little twist on the classic Puck archetype. Wearing a shear green gown with slits up to the waist and a plunging neckline, with gilded accessories to match, Admin Bee left nothing up to the imagination. He didn't immediately meld into the throngs of people. Instead, he walked around the periphery, taking note of familiar and unfamiliar faces. Even stopped by the slot machine area and played a few rounds, eyeing those that passed by with mild interest, until he got bored of that.[break][break]

A sudden commotion caught Mei's attention, and she twisted away from Elisabeth Fiorelli to look for the source of the noise. A painful yelp followed by a series of squawks, then a gruff voice reprimanding a very familiar Corviknight...[break][break]
And then fern delaney materialized in front of her looking like the sly prince of some dazzling floral kingdom.[break][break]
"She's really here?" Mei asked, seafoam eyes lighting up with delight. But it made sense: the Corviknight she'd glimpsed had looked an awful lot like Kuru. The escort eyed Fern, wondering just what exactly they were up to...but the meddling matchmaker was already floating away, likely in search of jayden cross. Mei shook her head, amused. She silently thanked Fern for their support, then made her way towards the bar.[break][break]

Marza Volchitsa was there, but she didn't look anything like her normal self. She was dressed in a rather low cut fashionable black suit that accentuated her muscular form in all the right places, and her hair had been done nicely, and she had obviously put effort into her overall appearance. Mei's entire body felt warm all of a sudden, a blush coloring her cheeks.[break][break]
"I heard a rumor you might be here," she said, finding her voice. She moved closer, until she was mere inches from Marza. She gazed up at her with smoldering eyes that betrayed her desire.[break][break]
For the hundredth time, she wondered how the hell this woman could be so incapable of believing herself attractive. She could have Mei in a second if she would only do something. Anything.[break][break]
"Surely you're not actually working?" Mei purred. "I was hoping we could have a little fun."

so the glitter is a little less overwhelming and after cleaning up around her eyes a little bit (she just put smudgy black eyeliner on and called it a day), she looks somewhat respectable. not flawless. anything but flawless. her cheeks are a little red from being abused so much, and because she couldn't get the damned bubblegum fox out of her head.

she gathers her paper towels and shoves them in the trash, wrings out her hands, and musters all of her courage.

last she saw, nomi was halfway across the room and at a safe distance away for her to figure out what the hell she was gonna say to her, and yumi was also nowhere to be found. but the two must be conspiring against her because she walks out and the door falls behind her and she walks twice, then looks up 'cause there are people real close to the bathroom, but her stuttering sorries come out like this:

"oh, uh, exc-yumi." and then, quickly, "nomi. hey. you two, uh, know each other?"

sorry i was an ass last time we talked, yumi.

sorry i punched that guy in the face.

sorry i thought we could be more.

sorry i ate your - "yooo, jayden! hey!" she's just saying things so she doesn't say anything she regrets. in front of nomi. or yumi. 'cause she does want to apologize to yumi and say she was stupid. (but is it just because she's moved on? ...is that so bad?) it's just...well, it doesn't seem like a very fun topic to discuss! in front! of! nomi!

The longer he stood in the center of the room, the more awkward he felt. Especially everyone he knew seemed preoccupied and he didn't know anyone else. He made a movement to step away, possibly towards the machines, when suddenly an elegant woman that he recognized as the casino's new proprietor approached.

[break][break] He blinked.

[break][break] Was he bothering her? Quickly, he looked towards his friend, guilt filtering through his expression. Before he could speak, however, a familiar voice echoed through the bathroom hall and he found himself locking eyes with fern delaney.

[break][break] The relief in his expression was palpable, at least for those who knew him.

[break][break] For those who didn't, well, his expression remained as pleasantly mundane as ever.

[break][break] Yet, there was something soft at the way that he regarded fern delaney, glad to find that they were pleased with his outfit. That he didn't look absolutely as foolish as he felt. "The glitter was Mint's doing," he explained, hand reaching up to almost dab at the golden glitter beneath his cheek, before thinking otherwise and letting his hand drop.

There’s a tension, he can feel it. So he turns and sees who he ran into before raising his middle finger up at Yumi Hasegawa. It’s somehow his version of hello but she probably doesn’t now that and likely thinks that pinkie(parker jones) somehow told him all about the shit. He doesn’t know the shit, he’s just a shit.

A grin plasters itself upon his face the moment that Athena cuts in front of him to try her hand at the games offered. Her costume looked spectacular, and while he could see how it was going towards a more phoenix-based appearance, Sven couldn't help but see valkyrie in its design. Once the slots stop spinning, Sven reached over and gave the brunette a fist bump to congratulate her for the win. It seemed everyone won something in this little game of chance, but given the shouts of excitement that came from some folks, it seemed the prizes differed. Maybe with a guaranteed prize, that's what drew folks in.

"I get that though! I decided to check it out outta sheer curiosity, and it ain't bad! Not really my sort of scene but it's good to expand one's horizons I guess. But how about those drinks, huh?"

Sven himself didn't plan to drink anything on the alcoholic side, and he didn't know his new acquaintance's preference, so he figured the both of them could go together. Completely mindless to personal boundaries, the blonde threw an arm around Athena's shoulders and gave a firm pat to the center of her back. The contact didn't last for long as his arm fell back down to his side.

"I like your spirit though! You're loud and unapologetic -- more people ought to be like that," he insisted. "Name's Sven, pleased to meet you."

It seemed the bar was crowding rather quick, so he figured it'd be ideal for the two to meander closer to it. Sven took the lead as he jerked his head in the bar's direction as if letting Athena know she was free to follow along. He didn't mind a plus one, especially with a seemingly vibrant new face.

"So what's your drink preference? I'm just gonna get a coke for now."

And then, as if this were some kind of romantic comedy, all hell broke lose the moment the one person Nomi had actually been hoping to find at this party emerged from the bathroom.[break][break]
jayden cross stared blankly at Yumi as the dazzling, floral form of fern delaney appeared beside him. parker jones emerged from the bathroom, her expression a mix of horrified and ashamed. And then some dude Nomi did not recognize (mitchel kane) barreled his way through the group to greet Parker and make a rude gesture at Yumi. All of them loomed over Nomi - who was the shortest of the group - making her heart race with sudden social anxiety.[break][break]
Worst of all was the way Parker kept looking between Nomi and Yumi with panicked eyes. As if she were worried about them interacting. But why would that matter? It wouldn't, unless Yumi was...[break][break]
"Excuse me," Nomi mumbled hastily, stomach churning. "I'm going to go get a drink." A strong one.[break][break]
Before any of them could - hopefully - notice the tears welling in her eyes (dammit, she was going to ruin her makeup...), Nomi hurried away towards the bar, retreating from the mess of bodies, mind fixated on whether or not she'd just run into the woman Parker actually wanted to date...the real reason she'd wanted to go to this party.[break][break]
Luckily, Nomi was quite familiar with feeling unwanted. It made it sting a little less.[break][break]

The woman listens to the grey-haired woman introduce her name and talk about her family having been excited for the grand reopening, but Naia didn’t attend casinos in general. With all of the extravagance that the casino offered in appearance and its games, the royal nods to Naia in understanding. “That is understandable, I don’t think I attend casinos a lot myself. I’d much prefer my time in studying Galarian politics with my cousin's mentoring than mingling with a very large crowd here.” Mirabelle’s family name being one of the esteemed noble houses of Kalos made her bow her head slightly in respect. “It is a greater honor to meet a fellow royal like yourself, Lady Mirabelle.”[break][break]

Alastor starts to get bored of the conversation as the Mimikyu pokes at the button of the slot machine, not knowing that he needed a coin to operate how it worked in the first place. Naia just needed to sit there and be a good hostess, occasionally repeat what her mother wanted and act like a glorified servant. [break][break]This time she wasn't going to fall behind. Though a dilemma arose-- Naia already had a drink, a drink that was still over half full at this point. It wasn't that she particularly liked this drink, and honestly it burned every time she drank it, but she couldn't help herself but feel uncomfortable with just leaving it.

[break][break]At those words Naia would take in a deep breath, calm herself down and did her best to chug down her drink. However she couldn't force herself to down the whole thing in one go, having to take a second to stop and recover from the bitter burning sensation. An entire shiver running through her body before she had to steel herself and continue.

[break][break]It was by the time the waiter came back with their drinks did she finally finish hers, the feeling of the alcohol sitting heavily in her stomach when he carefully laid out the drinks in front of them. It was a spectacle, some oddly shaped spoon balanced delicately over their drink with what looked to be a sugar cube on it? Next came with a shot glass of some clear liquid, which Naia hoped was water, placed down beside each glass.

[break][break]Her eyes would nervously dart over towards Mira and then to the waiter as she'd op to quietly hand her empty glass to them while Mira or the waiter would explain to them how they were supposed to drink and cheer for this drink. It didn't help that their drink was actually green when Naia thought it was supposed to be hypothetical, none the less a free drink is kind enough.

CASINO STARLIGHT IN SOOTOPOLIS IS REOPENING TO THE PUBLIC. After the departure of former Rocket underboss Killian Decker, the casino is now under new management. And what better way to commemorate such an occasion and usher in the summer than a party?[break][break]

Yumi Hasegawa is inviting one and all to a glamorous costume party at Casino Starlight, inspired by A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Costumes themed after faeries and the feywild are encouraged. Bring your Fairy and Dark-type Pokémon with you, too! Come for dinner and a show, music and dancing, and of course, gambling![break][break]

THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE BEFORE GOODBYE GALAR

DINNER AND A SHOW

Time passes, an ephemeral delight, as friends reconnect over glasses of champagne and strangers meet around gambling tables. However, before too long, a man's jovial voice announces over the PA system:[break][break]

"Your attention please, dearest guests. The best chefs in the region have been hard at work in our kitchens, and have declared that dinner is now ready to be served. Please make your way to the Empoleon Room on the fourth floor if you wish to partake in the finest dining Casino Starlight has to offer."[break][break]

Elevators chime as some guests make their way to the fourth floor; others choose to ascend the magnificent stairs. Helpful staff guide you into the largest and most lavish ballroom of the casino, where numerous half-moon tables have been set up facing a grand stage at the far wall.[break][break]

The tables are adorned with ivory tablecloths and immaculate place settings. Tealight candles flicker within small glass holders. Menus printed on luxurious paper present the choice of entrees for this evening:[break][break]

Grilled Miltank steak (grade A5) with a wasabi soy dipping sauce, served with steamed white rice and a salad of radish greens
Roasted Farfetch'd breast in a brown citrus sauce, served with roasted white asparagus, mashed sweet potato, and sliced oran berry
Fried Magikarp cheeks and steamed Shellder in a salsa verde sauce, served with fresh farmhouse bread
Ziti pasta in Genovese sauce mixed with charred bell pepper, tomato, and pangrattato, served with Caprese salad

Once all the guests have taken their seats, the lights dim and a spotlight shines upon the stage. From darkened doorways, a troupe of dancers flit like shadows into place. A haunting song fills the air, and before your eyes, the dancers unfurl into motion.[break][break]

Slowly at first, like the petals of a flower blooming in moonlight. Their movements are bewitching and hypnotic, their costumes evoking creatures of myth and folklore. As music fills the room with terrifying, powerful notes, the dance quickens, transporting the guests to a midnight bacchanalia deep in a fae-touched wood.[break][break]

With the last notes of the song, the spell comes to an end. The performers bow to applause, then get in position for their next dance. Quietly and unobtrusively, waiters take orders from those seated at tables. Glasses are kept filled with water and wine.[break][break]

Of course, guests may return to the casino at any time, should the itch to gamble the night away prove impossible to ignore.[break][break]

All of your characters may participate in the event. However, you may only claim rewards once per round on one character. In other words, two of your characters may not claim the same reward from a round.
Despite being set in Sootopolis, League characters can participate. Civilians are encouraged to attend. However, if you play a League official of any kind (Gym Leaders, Rangers, officers, government personnel), please consider the IC consequences of showing up in the heart of Rocket territory. The risk may be too great.
Though you may include the prompts more than once in your posts in a round, you can only claim a reward once from completing the corresponding prompt. This includes the gambling prompt, even though multiple rewards are possible from it.
You may complete more than one prompt per post, within reason. Write what feels natural and appropriate, instead of trying to hit all the prompts at once.
You may put rewards into your PCs immediately upon completing the prompts. To use them, post in the site shop.
