before the van is rendered airborne, before it drifts through the air in a wide arc, dominic mouths what the fuck as he scales his steelix and urges it to hurtle forward in pursuit, flanked by the togekiss and luxray. the group pauses above the van for a moment, hovering, as dominic scans it for movement just as the back is blown open and the unknown ultra beast and cotillard dart out; dominic knows enough to recognise him as a target. the beast and the wanted man make for the path leading ahead, and as the guzzlord picks up speed behind them, dominic will guide the steelix to move above the water parallel to the path. his orders to his pokemon are sharp commands; stall, attack, don’t let the man reach the power plant. at a distance, steelix heaves up STEALTH ROCKS along the ultra beast’s path. [break][break]

dominic watches circe crowley emerge from the van, and not seeing her equipped with an immediate way to escape the guzzlord, he points her out to his coasting togekiss which will prompt the pokemon to ALLY SWITCH with the head scientist. in tandem, she will appear atop the steelix with dominic as the togekiss takes her place on the road. the only legitimate flier on dominic's team doesn't hesitate to shoot into the sky like a bullet. [break][break]

were it to catch up to the ultra beast, luxray will throw itself against the creature with reckless abandon, its SHADOW END aiming for the ultra beast’s weak spots as identified by the pokemon’s unique vision. once it lands its hit, the luxray will twist into the air to avoid retaliation. with those preparations complete, dominic calls for his alcremie to use DAZZLING GLEAM at the guzzlord behind them. [break][break]

the brighter the burst of light, the stronger the shadows cast in its wake - blades of grass and rubble and pokemon and fallen bodies all link together and dominic lunges for them, bracing as though expecting to hit the ground, and he does - sort of - his fall broken by darkrai’s outstretched dark hand as it melds out of the shadow to guide his path onward. as he and darkrai flicker between shadows, dominic and his pokemon all aim to converge at the same point where the path ends and turns to the west, out of the way of the guzzlord’s path. dominic reappears at the designated location a moment later, shrouded from view in darkrai’s HAZE. marcel stands somewhere in the grass, hands on his knees as he takes a heaving breath. his golduck, unfazed, hurls a wave of MUD BOMBS at the megalopolans ahead, his clefable following up with a MOONBLAST. once again, he spots jules cotillard, and realises the last time hadn't been some trick of the mind.

"Wyn!" Razz called out to his pokemon after they were struck and knocked back by the DRAGON TAIL from the Guzzlord. As he ran over to the Gallade who had been knocked back thankfully able to move himself to land on his feet even if roughed up from the attack. Wyn waved in a way to ensure his trainer that he was fine as the two watched as the combined efforts of the group's pokemon were able to knock the Ultra Beast into the water, with a hostage sadly. [break][break]

Hearing the plea of the trainer Razz took a minute to think how to approach this without hurting the Gyarados. Though after watching it mega-evolve a few ideas came to mind as his pokemon came closer to him to wait for orders. "Wyn heal up those here, everyone else we're focusing on attacking," As Razz told his pokemon the plan for now the Gallade focused as the aura around him turned blue as it dipped down to the ground and rippled out like water to heal both himself and others on the road such as his Flygon, Andy Blackadder's Yanmega, and any other pokemon that needed it in the area with the use of LIFE DEW. [break][break]

With the healing done Razz's pokemon got to work, Cobalt being first using FLASH CANNON to fire a white beam of energy at the tongue-arm holding the Gyarados to aid the Scizzor and Vikavolt. [break][break]

"No need to hold back for once Whis so go at it, just make sure to wait a beat first" Razz reassures his Zeraora cause despite training very hard to get the electric cat to control their abilities at the moment the Ranger felt they were going to need to let loose if they wanted to finally take down this Guzzlord and it seemed while it was in the water was probably the best option. With an affirmative noise the Zeraora charged it's hands with PLASMA FIST waiting until the attacks to aid the Gyarados were done and it hopefully had the chance to escape before the thunderclap pokemon slam their hands down to send a stream of electricity at the Ultra Beast. [break][break]

Then finally from the air Shamrock used DRAGONBREATH to attack directly hoping to aide in taking the ultra beast down before another attack could get out, or at least bring it that much closer so they could move on.

''Gengar...'' He groaned at cushioning the fall. Meanwhile the crimson gaze of his yanmega briefly passed over the scene. She had been entrusted with the boy's safety, after all. Had any serious harm come to the Blackadder progeny, the guzzlord wouldn't be the only object of her ire. Alas, her compatriot had ensured no injuries, so she could flit her gaze to the much bigger fish to fry.

His gengar was not quite as forgiving however. As Andy got to his feet, the pokemon's trademark grin parted and his tongue flicked out for a nice paralyzing lick aimed for Balder Schwartz 's spine so that he might enjoy the remainder of battle with all the grace of a pile of jelly. As it whizzed over his shoulder however, the brat snatched at the tongue, stopping it well short.

''Save it for later,'' he grumbled with promise. ''Genth!'' It was none too pleased, but a call of ''yanmega!'' drew both of their attentions. While dealing with their muscular distraction, the guzzlord had decided to make a meal of his oldest pokemon. ''Shit!'' Before either can act however a chick's vikavolt freed it.

''Fucking thanks, lady!'' He calls to gigi bae. When his pokemon makes a rough landing nearby. The two came to her side and the youth examined the damage. The marrs on her exoskeleton were nasty and a pang of regret came over him. Ravana was one of the few things his mother had given him before she disappeared.

''Damn it... Ravana.'' He placed his hand on her head gently. The guzzlord emitting an awful racket drew his attention away again. It flailed within the waters of a nearby river and was making a meal of a gyarados, but it was putting up a fight. With yanmega injured as she was however, his mobility was highly limited. That is until a healing dew washed over her.

''Thanks, mister,'' he called to Raziel Beckett. ''yanmega,'' the insect chirped happily. She wasn't one hundred percent, but far better than she was. His chocolate gaze settled over everyone absolutely hammering the guzzlord, trying to prevent its hyperbeam from firing off. Never had he felt more useless than he did right then. However...

This thing can't do shit if it isn't here. It was simple, and stupid, but perhaps it could work. He fished a pokeball from his shorts. Fuck it. Why not? Bug buzz hadn't done anything to cease the beast's existence, so perhaps this would be a better solution, as foolish as it was. And so he pitched the thing at the monster. It couldn't hurt to try.

The strategy to destabilize it had been successful, but damage had been dealt all around too. While the Duraludon had attempted to slow the tail down, it hadn't been enough. Pushed backwards, the steel dragon stayed on its feet. Slightly damaged, it was still raring to go. But the damage had been done to the allies, making Balder emit an inaudible tch.[break][break]

He had noticed the kid's Gengar try to lick him, with a glance over his shoulder. The Rapidash was about to intervene, but the ghost's master interrupted the lick. Good. He understood the priorities here at least. Licking someone in the middle of a battlefield and leaving it paralyzed... That could've led to someone's death. [break][break]

The Yanmega flew back to its master, heavily wounded, while the guzzlord ended in the waters. Someone used a Life Dew, healing the majority of the creatures on this side of the field. A welcome assistance. The Alolan Man looked at the rapidash, then pointed at the Yanmega over his shoulder. "Heal it. We gotta keep everyone alive as best as we can."[break][break]

The horse froze for a couple of second, since it still remembered what the Gengar had just attempted to do, yet she obeyed, using Heal Pulse on Yanmega. Soon after, Balder turned and moved towards the Guzzlord, emitting a strident whistling sound. Duraludon, Mega Camerupt and Zeraora instantly joined up to him.[break][break]

"Save the Gyarados and block his beam, or direct it skywards. We gotta make sure everyone lives through this as best as possible." Camerupt acted first, deciding to use Earth Power to try and make the Guzzlord topple backwards by raising the ground in front of the beast and lowering it towards the rear of the beast.[break][break]

The Duraludon proceeded to do a Flash Cannon, hoping that the beam would help pushing it backwards. With the beam's intense light as a cover, the Zeraora rushed forward, using an electrified Slash on the Tongue-Arm to help free the rampaging Gyarados. Hopefully this would ensure everyone's survival and even defeat the creature.

she remembered yelling expletives as they fell. her life didn’t flash before her eyes—none of that. perhaps she’d already had too many near death experiences that the reel was old, at that point.

when they came to on the ground, she groaned, holding her head a moment and then looking up to assess the damage. there were less people in the truck, somehow. she looked up at her brother, and shook her head at his question. then, a crate came to life, and a man appeared. lulu scrunched her face at him, the hairs standing up on the back of her neck. she looked at Cillian Quinn and marcel maeda in utter bewilderment. “who the fuck was that?”

but before anyone could provide an answer, they were already evacuating, as the guzzlord steamrolled towards them. when she jumped out, she found her perrserker waiting for her, somewhat injured from the fall. she also found Rex Drago , never having been quite so glad to see him. she grinned, and grabbed the nearest supply box, to do the same before climbing on his aerodactyl, the perrserker situated between them.

she laughed from behind, the humor coming from a place of shock. “i take back everything i’ve ever said about you, rex!” messing with him, good-heartedly.

then, she looked down, as they ascended, realizing her weezing was no longer beside the blaziken, who looked up and located the rest of his team. quickly assessing the possibilities, her face fell sullen. “blaziken! stay out of the way!” it used AGILITY to attempt to evade the oncoming attacks. she then spoke to the viking meowth in front of her. "DARK PULSE on that fucker."

SETTING: LATE SEPTEMBER

THIRD DAY OF THE WAR

WESTERN GUZZLORD

AS THE SCARLET GYARADOS WRITHES in Guzzlord’s grasp, light emanates from its maw with a steadily intensifying squall. However, Adrian Malcolm would find that the trainers around him have come to his aid with heroic haste.[break][break][break]

With his Pineco recalled, Moana Reyes’s Dwebble and Alolan Geodude fire SAND-ATTACK and ROCK BLAST into its gut. Sand cakes the beautiful red scales of Adrian Malcolm’s Gyarados as LIGHT SCREENS are raised by the white-furred Grimmsnarl and hovering Sigilyph.[break][break][break]

Zeraora strike with electrified fists. Balder Schwartz and Raziel Beckett’s other Pokemon assist with HEALS while the earth erupts underneath the Ultra Beast. As cold water spouts from the attacks, Duraludon and Metagross’s FLASH CANNONS combine for a fulgent offense. A PROTECT is erected by Remiel Calcifet’s Duraludon, while Thomas Benoit swoops in with gigi bae. His Hydreigon and Clawitzer fire into the Guzzlord’s charging mouth alongside Venusaur PETALS. A CONFUSE RAY does not seem particularly effective— however, everyone’s combined efforts manage to weaken the tongue-arm further, causing the flesh to blister and crack.[break][break][break]

Finally, Adrian Malcolm’s Gyarados surges in strength. As the Guzzlord struggles to stay upright, the Gyarados is engulfed in the brilliant lights of mega evolution. As it roars triumphantly in its new, bulky form, the Mega Gyarados lunges with its powerful jaws. As BALEFUL BRUX tears into the Guzzlord, the Gyarados pulls away to reveal a chunked creature, like a bitten black apple.[break][break][break]

The HYPER BEAM fails to manifest. Andy Blackadder would retrieve his thrown pokeball, for the creature melts away into a festering poison.[break][break][break]

TRICKHOUSE

THE GALARIAN AMBASSADOR WIELDS HIS IMPROVISED SWORD DEFTLY. The iron poker clashes with batons, electricity crackling in the air. Unleashing his Shadow Druddigon into the Megalopolans, it tears the enemy troops apart. Soldiers cry for each other as CRUSH CLAWS break bone and wall. Remiel Calcifet manages TELEPORT away to the forest; however, he would realize the injury he had sustained from the Poipole is more grisly than he had initially imagined.[break][break][break]

His side bleeds. The spikes of the Poipole have broken the skin and the injury oozes purple. Around him, he can hear Megalopolan troops rustling about. Underneath his feet, he can hear a terrible churning, like an engine being revved.[break][break][break]

STEAMROLLER

THE GUZZLORD BEGINS TO MOBILIZE. Rex Drago’s Mega Aerodactyl allows Lulu Flint on its back. THUNDER crackles across the Guzzlord's carapace; furthermore, the BRINE from his Armaldo strikes it, splashing across its dark flesh. Lulu Flint’s Perrserker DARK PULSES too, firing a blackish wave at the Guzzlord as it begins to revolve.[break][break][break]

As Cillian Quinn’s Corviknight MEGA EVOLVES, further light from dominic sinclair’s DAZZLING GLEAM strikes against the Ultra Beast. The Underboss’ Lucario fires DRAGON PULSES alongside his Lycanroc’s ROCK SLIDE in a desperate attempt to slow it. Katherine Fairburne joins him. As her Reuniclus conjures up a SAFEGUARD for preemptive defenses, Shadow Dusknoir repeats its EARTHQUAKE. Around the path, the sea sloshes against the railways as the Guzzlord begins to clumsily charge.[break][break][break]

Stones dig into the Ultra Beast and tear off skin. As poison is left on the path, grasses wither. dominic sinclair, having TELEPORTED BY SHADOW, would be able to see the carnage take place through the HAZE of his patron, Darkrai. circe crowley too, views from the comfort of dominic sinclair’s Steelix, the Togekiss’ ALLY SWITCH granting her a better position. Reappearing causes her to feel disoriented briefly until she’s brought back to the present thanks to Lucas Lane’s screaming.[break][break][break]

marcel maeda’s Gardevoir TELEPORTS him and his team further too. From the road, her appropriately sized Golduck fires MUD BOMBS under the protection of a LIGHT SCREEN. Eventually, Samuel Boothe TELEPORTS to his side. His Milotic, Salamence and Manectric, strike with the elements. As a potent combination of SURF, THUNDERBOLT, and FLAMETHROWER fires into the Megalopolan troops. As they stave off the Naganadels, Kaine Ikari picks off those who breach the gaps of their attacks. On Scyther, Kaine Ikari attempts to circumvent the Guzzlord as his Shiftry and Venomoth slice into troops with AIR CUTTER and GUST.[break][break][break]

This close, people can hear the soldiers wail out for each other. Injured and dying Naganadel lay strewn across the cycling road, while those lucky enough to be cradled in their last moments nestle their purple heads in Megalopolan laps.[break][break][break]

As Lucas Lane flees, his Ditto runs with him. The smoldering remains of the Supply Vehicle provide a somber backdrop for them as his other Pokemon are recalled. After cait alfric offers the sacrificed Weezing its last rites in the middle of war, she rushes for Lucas Lane, the TAILWIND of her Braviary allowing them to hasten the pace.[break][break][break]

It is clear that they must escape— for the Guzzlord STEAMROLLS down the grassy path. As it passes over the truck, it disappears into its mouth… and does not reappear. Lucas Lane’s Ditto promptly TRANSFORMS into a Corviknight, allowing the Scientist to take to the skies.[break][break][break]

Thanks to everyone's collective efforts, Bailey Cooper's Pokemon manage to stall the Guzzlord longer. Her Mega Steelix, Aggron, and Kommo-o barge into the Ultra Beast's side as it rolls. Thanks to the Ultra Beast's momentum, the Guzzlord spins into the sea with a resounding splash. However, it seems to have only received a shower. In anger, the Guzzlord flails its arms. It chomps into the Cycling Road, causing Samuel Boothe to trip as a sizable portion of the road collapses, the infrastructure having been weakened there (perhaps, due to Adrian Malcolm and alec foster's previous battle months ago). Samuel Boothe almost falls into the sea before he grabs on to the edge of the bridge, dangling above a Guzzlord's maw.[break][break][break]

A POWER PLANT COUPLE

AS JULES ESCAPES TO THE SKIES WITH FLOATING STAKATAKA CUBES, he hears the Champion’s taunt. He simply laughs:[break][break][break]

“FOUR EYES? I HAVE MUCH MORE THAN THAT, BON AMI.”[break][break][break]

dominic sinclair’s Shadow Luxray’s ability to analyze the anatomy of Ultra Beasts reveals a startling, trypophobic discovery. Each cube possesses an eye. These square cyclops sense danger, and several detach themselves from carrying the man. There are TWELVE STAKATAKA CUBES.[break][break][break]

Several cubes fire lasers at the STEALTH ROCKS, pulverizing stone into dust. Others sacrifice themselves to circe crowley’s Gengar’s PSYCHIC, falling behind as they resist the hold. However, Bailey Cooper’s ERUPTION OF EARTH strikes not Cotillard, but a sudden assembly of Stakataka cubes that fly underneath him. Like a reverse helmet, they take the blow while the remaining cubes fly him swiftly toward the Power Plant as Bailey Cooper pursues with her Togekiss’ EXTREME SPEED.[break][break][break]

kyle lopez’s Type: Null rushes down the path as the road is destroyed behind it. When the Cosmoem TELEPORTS the Elite Four Member toward the Power Plant, he finds himself with his Smeargle in front of a group of Megalopolans and their Naganadel. His Manectric PROTECTS as a terrible ROAR sounds in the distance.[break][break][break]

Philomera appears from the squad. At the mouth of the Power Plant, a large generator, like an oversized version of the shiny machine Lucas Lane had found in Lilycove’s Contest Hall a year ago, stands tall with several mega stones set within it. “YOU’RE BRAVE— OR WHOLLY FOOLISH FOR COMING ALONE.” she peers over at the troops coming their way, “NOT FOR LONG THOUGH. THAT IS WHY WE BEGIN THE FESTIVITIES.”[break][break][break]

The generator seems to dig deep into the earth. Thick, black cords follow from the machine to deep within the plant as well. As the machine charges, the mega stones seem to fry. In a manner similar to the controversial Mossdeep experiments that had opened up a wormhole two years ago, the machine whirrs and spins violently. Megalopolan troops charge to attack kyle lopez as the machine fires a powerful beam into the air.[break][break][break]

An Ultra Wormhole opens above the route. After it manifests in the sky with terrifying speeds, a shadowy pulse resonates through the heavens in a sight that can be seen all across Hoenn. Another ROAR sounds. This time closer.[break][break][break]

From the Cycling Road, kyle lopez’s Type: Null leaps across the sky with a predatorial pounce. It slams into the Elite Four’s Manectric, shattering its PROTECT with ease using its helmet. The Manectric stumbles back as the Type: Null presses forward to tackle kyle lopez onto the earth. Claws dig into the man’s flesh as it growls.[break][break][break]


Its eyes glow red underneath the limiter and shadowy tendrils waft from its limbs. As the wormhole pulses once more, Philomera smiles as she witnesses the chimera howl in feral notes. Its helmet breaks.[break][break][break]

All across the region, other Type: Null succumb to this particular Ultra Wormhole’s effects. marcel maeda’s Type: Null would be summoned out from its ball. Like kyle lopez’s, the Type: Null’s helmet shatters. It howls loudly with bloodthirst as Samuel Boothe peeks from his compromised position.[break][break][break]

Jules would eventually land safely with four Stakataka cubes carrying him by the arms. He stumbles on to the grass behind the barricade of forces. As he reaches Philomera he wraps his arms around her and weeps, “I HAVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO COME HOME, BUT THESE BARBARIANS LOCKED ME UP.” They exchange kisses feverishly, “BUT WE CAN CALL HOENN OUR HOME NOW. CHANGE ME BACK, DEAR.”[break][break][break]

Weeping happily, Philomera changes the setting of the “shiny machine,” and as Jules Cotillard positions himself above the generator, he’s struck by a bolt. Suddenly, his flesh changes. His pale skin shifts into blues, while his facial hair, grown from months in prison, dyes itself dark. Jules Cotillard reverts to his original Megalopolan form.[break][break][break]

Philomera commands the troops around her, including those stationed further behind the plant, “KILL THEM ALL.”[break][break][break]

ATTACKS

SEVERAL THINGS HAPPEN AT ONCE. Those who have taken down the Guzzlord in the east would find themselves able to take a brief break. However, as they advance, they would find the obstacle of poisonous paths and a Guzzlord in the water.[break][break][break]

Those in the Cycling Road, grassy path, or air, would find that the Stakataka cubes swirl around like TIE Fighters, firing lasers at Pokemon and trainers alike. League soldiers who are struck find themselves with holes burned straight through their bodies. They fall as their wounds light up with cinders.[break][break][break]

A swarm of Naganadel surge out from the forest Remiel Calcifet is in. They engage with League forces— including kyle lopez who finds himself pinned by his turned friend.[break][break][break]

Lastly, the Guzzlord resumes its rampage. Seemingly inspired or perhaps, empowered by the presence of an Ultra Wormhole, DRACO METEORS form above the route and begin to fall like missiles.[break][break][break]

• There is a soft cap/word limit of 350 words per post.
• Please include a tl;dr note of your important actions.
• You are allowed to roleplay your character taking down miscellaneous Megalopolan NPCs alongside League NPCs; however, significant actions will have their outcomes resolved in the subsequent moderator post.
• If you miss too many rounds by failing to post by the deadline, you will either be kicked and/or receive minimal rewards.
