AROUND RUSTBORO, a swarm of Gigalith begin to rampage. It seems as if the carnage was instigated by a particular shiny Gigalith for reasons unknown; however, it seems to be avoiding stepping on one of its rocky feet. As Gigalith, Boldore and Roggenrola stomp around the city, its bright crystals absorb the sunlight. It would be best to subdue them quick before they fire powerful energies from their maws.[break][break]

  • the highest roll will earn a shiny gigalith; the second highest roll will earn a normal gigalith, and the lowest roll will net a roggenrola. the gender of the pokemon can be decided by the recipient.
  • the attempted capture will not consume a pokéball.
  • the gigalith/roggenrola have movesets that will be revealed at the end of the event.

Mired in his duties as ambassador, Remiel paused from his paperwork to acknowledge the strange light filtering through the western window of his office. Though previously dormant at the corner of his desk, his pink Sinistea arose to float over its master shoulder and see. In the distance, just a few blocks away, a shining Gigalith had wandered onto the stone-paved Rustboro street the embassy resided on.[break][break]

It was only when his assistant knocked upon the door, opening it at his verbal approval, that the prince was filled in on what was truly happening. A swarm of Gigalith and other Rock-type pokémon could prove disastrous to the city if they were irate. Without another second to waste, Remiel headed out with his Sinistea attendant to help settle the titans.[break][break]

The first among them, naturally, had been the one stomping its way down the street. After Earl Grey got to work weakening it with a flurry of SHADOW BALL, and nearly avoiding a ROCK SLIDE it had been given in return, the ambassador pulled out an empty ball and cast it. It was a gamble, but catching it preemptively would prove far better for the city's infrastructure in the long run.[break][break]

Lucas, like any good and responsible trainer, was walking his anoriths and favorite geodude. Each pulled on their geodude print leash and kept them taut near non-stop.

"Oh look there, a bunch of gigalith." Lucas pointed with his free hand. "Don't see those every-" he stopped abruptly when their rampage became apparent. "Oh no no no," Lucas pulled the leashes toward himself, which was in direct opposition of the pokemon who were pulling forward. Each eager to confront the swarm. "Let's just stop this walk here and turn back."

When Lucas turned around he found their path blocked by a pokemon that splintered off from the swarm. It showed little interest in them, instead sniffing at a half filled garbage can. Quietly, with one hand, Lucas unzipped his fanny pack and reached inside, hand rummaging for an empty pokeball. He shoved aside a small prepackaged bag of chocolate rocks to find the single empty pokeball he had. Pulling it out he'd gently toss it at the rock pokemon.

When the pokemon was consumed in a flash of light Lucas sprinted towards the pokeball. "Go go go!" He kicked the pokeball as far as he could so they could make a safe getaway.

Arashi had taken to poking around dumpsters looking for food since… holy shit, he was having a hard time looking for money these days.

Why did people travel light? Where were all the rich money bags that stuffed their wallets full of cash?!

Just as he was about to round the corner and exit out onto a side street, he came face to face with a bunch of… whoa. What the hell was that?!

It’s big, it’s shiny, I want it! He thought hurriedly, searching his ‘PokéGear’ and pulling up the information on Gigalith.

“Even the name sounds huge,” he chuckled, before quickly pitching up like a baseball player and tossing a Pokéball at the closest one he could find.

Hey, even he could find some use for these rocks in this situation…right?

Finally being called in to corral a pokémon he didn't carry an interest in catching made it that much easier to do his job; stop the unruly rocks from taking things too far. The need to capture one, even a shiny one, a low priority.

Having as many chances as he had in the past to claim one as his own, he'd long since learned enough about them that picking them apart strategically was child's play.

Poison moves would be a waste normally but against a horde like this, any lingering deterrent was an effective one. The two croagunk would weave the crowd dousing the gathered pokémon with poison before pummeling others with fighting and steel-typed moves.

With the combined efforts of the other trainers not even living rocks could just form a mob and do what they wanted.

The shock on their faces at the sight of two fighting frogs picking them apart, of enemies they were too slow to engage was particularly telling.

it was big. it was a rock. it was--

a.. dino?

it looked like a dino rock and, to a degree, it was kind of cute. cute in its own right. she may as well try her hand at it, right? yeah, she definitely should. so, the young woman pulls out a pokeball, with her rowlet perched on the top of her head. for a second, she was about to go 'should i attack it?', before realizing that.. the majority of her pokemon shouldn't be able to stand up to the rock pokemon. 

... but then what could she do? 

ah! she was told that pokemon like kind people, right? so if she showed how much affection she could give, maybe they would accept her? maybe she should give them a loving gaze, and they would accept her love!

well.. she did that internally. there was no way she could bring herself to do it out in the open. so, pecking the empty pokeball and saying a silent prayer, she makes an underhand throw at the rocks in hopes to catch a nice pokemon.

Part of what was practically a small army that'd been raised to quell the Gigalith, Derek is little more than a bystander to much of the dramatics that take place. When his Feraligatr eventually finished taking care of their latest adversary, the prospect of catching one of them seemed to hold his interest. They were such a lively bunch, it would almost be a waste not to try and add one to his collection...

As Thomas sat in his parked car, waiting for a friend to come out, he would spot people running. Whether they were scared civilians fleeing, or eager trainers running towards it, the loud stomping through the city sent people running. Thomas joined the trainers to investigate, only to find as swarm of Gigalith marching through Rustboro.

Among the rampaging beasts, Thomas would spot a Shiny Gigalith. Of note was the fact that it was avoiding the use of one of his feet. Perhaps it was injured, and the rampage was caused by that. Thomas, hoping to at least disrupt the absorption of sunlight through the crystals, tossed a Pokeball at the nearest target, hoping for the best.

Here you have Obsidian... Neat, right?

Paying a visit back to his first apartment in Rustboro, Adrian's visit proved to have poor timing as monstrous Gigalith began to rampage throughout the city. Well, this really sucks.

A Machoke appeared at his side in a burst of crimson as he brandished its pokeball, hoping to avoid the golems making their way through the city. It helped him to feel safe walking around these metric ton granite monsters, though only marginally more than you'd feel all alone.

They could still injure him very easily.

"Machoke, don't wander too far from me, alright?" They'd continue through the streets, not necessarily looking for trouble as he tried to reach his second home away from home, hoping to leave the clean up efforts to Noah. He's the Gym Leader here, right? That makes it his responsibility...

If something happened to try accosting him on his way, however, he'd be sure to neutralize the threat and even capture it before continuing along.

THEME

"What a gorgeous day to be fossicking around among the rocks!"
Zac said, his voice echoing through the Rustboro Tunnel. The temperate sun dried beds of fallen leaves along the winding paths (outside) and a crisp Autumn breeze was blowing, ripening the nearby berry fields (also outside).

Meanwhile, inside, Zac and Rhydon were sifting through a pile of scree from a recent collapse. Zac wiped his brow with a flame-patterned handkerchief. "Hard work eh Shin?" 

The Rhydon snorted, unfazed by the work. "Well what are you slacking for then! There's still tons of this stuff to sort through!" Zac said, kicking a chunk of rubble. It clattered down the tunnel.

Rhydon shifted a particularly large section of granite, and something moved underneath. Conjoined slabs of rock self-adjusted as the pair's excavation disrupted the creature's hiding spot.

"It is a bit quiet though." Zac said, as the thing moved, rising from the pile. "Never thought i'd miss Whismur."
In the distance, Zac could faintly hear the displaced Whismur scream.

Zac heard the scrape of stone on stone and turned to the pile just as the creature stretched up to its full height. "Well well, looks like it's time to rock and-

She purses her lips and bears her weight heavily on one leg as she ponders this question. Her assistant is out in the field doing the actual hard work of trying to calm and contain any of the wild Gigalith. Several Roggenola trample his feet and trip him up, and by the end he's breathless and irritated.[break][break]

"Oh, please try to capture the one with the pretty blue rocks sticking out of it, would you? I believe I know just the person capable ot turning those beautiful shards into a necklace and earring set. Wouldn't they just look lovely?"[break][break]

And if the beast was capable of growing those protrusions back? Well that would be even better, wouldn't it? Sabine is positively wiggling at the mere thought.[break][break]

"Let's clean this mess up, huh?" Jude says to her Blaziken. He shoves a fist into his clawed hand before moving forward. She heard of the swarming Pokemon and came to check this shit out. Simple. The Gigalith were rampaging around, the various other humans and their Pokemon trying to keep them under control.

"Get 'em!" she orders as her partner shoots forward, aiming a fighting-type move at the nearest one. She didn't give a crap what one she went for. If she got one or not - Jude heard that some folks actually captured some rampaging Pokemon - she didn't care. All she had to do was keep them under control and tend to the wounded as needed. As Blaziken streaks away, she is on her own mission.

Rushing up to anyone in need of healing, she quickly tends to their wounds caused by the swarm.

Why is it no matter where the heck he went, Bryan for some reason always found trouble. Was he cursed by some legendary Pokémon to always find himself in some kind of nonsense? Well regardless it seemed like there was work to be done at the moment since some people were in danger from the onslaught of these rock Pokémon. [break][break]

He pulled out his pokeball and threw out his Audino to try and help people nearby letting her use Heal pulse on people who were injured and tried to escort them away from the danger. However as Bryan was escorting someone away from the rampage a Gigalith approached him menacingly to which he responded by covering the person he was escorting and shouting to Audino "Audino! Use hyper voice on it!" as she began to shout to it for assistance.

Well, this put a dent in her fender, so to speak. Or 'a nail in her tire,' or 'a crack in her windshield.' She wasn't sure which best encapsulated the situation. Chryssa was still experimenting with her car-related turns of phrase. Anyway, it wouldn't actually matter, since instead of cruising down the street in a sleek hot rod she was stuck up in some dusty office while Gigalith pounded through the streets.

She had been arguing with a car dealer, trying to impersonate a rich young (but not too young) prospective buyer, when the city's alarm system had gone off and she'd been forced unceremoniously upstairs with the rest of the car dealership staff. They were painfully boring people who seemed permanently glued to their clipboards.

"You could seat a family of four on one of those big boys," Chryssa said lightly, watching from the window as the huge creatures rampaged up and down the street towards the dealership, their crystals glowing ominously. I wonder when they're going to fire a beam to destroy something. She hoped it was the Honda Civic. "No? Overhead capacity? Off-road capability?"

The sales associate she'd been not-so-successfully arguing with seemed too distressed to answer as the walls shook. She heard a car alarm go off downstairs. Chryssa sighed, taking out a Pokeball. "Fine, I'll go try and stop them from getting in. But you owe me a test run when I get back." She couldn't wait. She was going to take years off their lives once they saw her driving.

"Go! Megalon, Baji!" He shouted as he threw two net-balls releasing a blue, bipedal Rhinoceros beetle and a living steel fortress upon the streets of Rustboro. "Gotta earn that bread!"

He had been bug hunting at Petalburg forest nearby when he received an order to provide assistance to the city.

A swarm... and sadly, not the buggy kind.

"This is gonna be such a waste of pokeballs." He said while tipping his straw hat, his gaze sweeping across the swarmed streets.

Many were the trainers that had joined the authorities in helping protect the city; he even recognized one or two of them...

He couldn't well do anything but his very best when his eternal rival and Zac were watching now, could he?

He finally brought his gaze to one of many Gigaliths, many Roggenrolas following its lead as it stampeded down a busy street, several shops and vehicles strewn about to make for a nice, fat mass of property damage.

That looked like something preventable.

"Better get to it. Megalon, launch it with Megahorn! Baji, drop them on their butts with Heavy Slam!" He said, his pokemon heeding his orders quickly.

Megalon moved to stand in the trampling Gigalith's path, withstanding a furious bellow from the mammoth rock. In response, he launched forward to meet its charge head on, ducking low as his horn flashed with unknown power.

As he did, Baji proved more capable of mobility than his shape suggested, launching high in the air before suddenly zooming down at high speed, as if gravity had just taken great offense to his disregard for physics.

Baji landed just before the Rock and the Beetle clashed- uplifting several of the flooring bricks and sending little Roggenrolas falling onto their face while the charging Gigalith stumbled, thrown off by the sudden, uneven footing beneath it.

And falling right onto Megalon's horn.

With a victorious roar, Megalon sprang up, launching the mammoth rock with strength that could lift 100 times a Heracross' own weight.

The large pokemon soared several meters high in the air before landing with a booming crash upon the streets on its back, its own weight digging it deep upon it.

It was stuck.

"One down." Said Doug as he tapped a pokeball, it growing to full size on his palm.
