"Are you ready for some more fun?" Once again a voice booms over the announcements! "Partner up and get ready to race in the three legged race! Participants line up at the starting line so we can get this show on the road!" And with that it was time for everyone to find a partner.

This round is going to require some collaboration! Simply find a partner icly willing to take on this challenge with you for the three legged race!

The Deadline for finding a partner is Monday, April 19th at 10:30 PM central time!

Another mod post will be made at that deadline in order to proceed the event and explain further how it will continue!

Please make a post with your characters at the starting lines before the deadline!

Stormy shows up late, a teddiursa iced coffee in her hand, lips puckered around the thin straw. Where everyone around her had baskets full to the brim with easter eggs, Stormy's arms were full of caffeine.[break][break]

But whatever mini-game was coming up shortly, she was eager to participate in. For now, however, she was content with enjoying the fresh air and good vibes. Coming alone had its perks: it allowed her to people watch and enjoy the view.[break][break]

So of course once the cupcakes were gone…

“Oh, no!” he groaned. He was left with the cupcake paper, and no more blue Alcremie-shaped cupcake to find. He sighed, because he didn’t know anyone around the area!

He was hoping to hide behind the tree as long as possible, however now there was an insatiable thirst that had sprung up and he needed to quell that.

Oh, hell, even if I don’t normally drink coffee… guess I’ll take one! he thought, quickly sprinting out from behind the tree and heading for one of the tables that had iced coffees available for people to take.

Grabbing the closest one, he was about to make a break towards where he was hiding however the sight of a Drampa being attacked from so many sides by loud children made him stop for a few moments to smile at the sight.

They really were ‘old grampa dragons’ that knew how to fly, weren’t they.

He wondered who the owner of the Drampa was as he looked around, taking a few sips from the iced coffee he had with him.

"hey stormy! kaz called out to Stormy Silph as he ran up towards her with a rope in his hand. as the announcement for the race went out kazimir was scrambling to look for someone to partner up. lucky him that stormy had impeccable timing and just arrived. "hey there's gonan be a three legged race in just a bit, wanna partner up? c'mon! without even giving her a second to answer back he took her by the hand and pulled her along to the starting line  to get ready.

The woman's sip of her iced coffee is cut short with a surprised choke as a familiar face pops up in the crowd. Kazimir wastes no time in gathering her up, wrapping her hand in his and tugging her along. [break][break]

He doesn't give her a chance to object, but she doesn't even think to. The prospect of competition gets her blood pumping, and given how fit both of them were and how in sync they tended to be given their extensive work together as superhero partners, this was sure to be a win.[break][break]

Zac finished his Charja-Cola, crushed the can, and put it in a bag he had brought along for recyclable aluminum.
"So what do they use for coloring, exactly?" Gavin asked him. "Have you seen the stuff?" Zac asked, pulling out another can and pouring some into a disposable paper cup. It was almost fluorescent pink. "There's only one Pokemon that will give you something that color," he said, swirling the cup ominously. "Jynx."
Zac set down the cup and helped himself to an ice coffee. "Don't worry though. It's just a rumor. And besides, I know for sure it's not blood." Zac took a gulp of the coffee. It did wonders to mask the taste of the Dunsparce venom that they used to flavor the cola.

Avery's soft little 'oos' and 'ahhs' are barely hidden both on her face and out loud. She's truly in awe of all of the beautiful decorating and adorable Pokemon- the entire event was chock full of fairy-type and grass-type Pokemon. The woman's heart is so full she finds that she's gripping her picnic basket a little bit too tightly, excitement getting the better of her.[break][break]

Dakota speaks up, though she'd already been attracted to his voice because of his earlier laughter. Once again, of course, Avery glances over her shoulder as if to see if for some reason he's talking to someone else. He isn't, obviously, and she knows this, but she still returns to him with rosy cheeks and a nervous chuckle.[break][break]

"Sure! That sounds like fun!"[break][break]

Though given how tiny she was in comparison to him.. she was mildly concerned that it might be completely embarrassing.[break][break]

After earning her hard-won and hard-boiled easter egg, Michiko decided to wander the picnic grounds, sipping a fruity blue cocktail a vendor had offered her free of charge. It wasn't so often that so many trainers could simply enjoy time outside with their Pokemon, and she wanted to "window shop" through as many of them as possible!

Her Cherrim riding on her Deerling's back, Michi and the two spring Pokemon meandered through the picnic grounds, turning their heads up to enjoy the occasional gust of wind that brought down spirals of white petals from above. She plucked a canola flower from the base of a tree and threaded it behind her ear, sighing in open contentment.

The peace was short-lived. Calls for a three-legged-race spread from the starting line like an uncontained virus, reaching Michi with little time to spare. Sober, she might have been too shy to participate. With one Bouncy Brionne down and after a full morning of hanami, however, the older woman was shamelessly raring to go.

"Oh! A race!" she cried, exuberant. She looked around for a partner-- someone young and filled with vitality, who would catapult her to victory! Someone with long legs and indominable power!

Someone like... FERNANDO SILPH !

Somehow, they ended up at the starting line together. Michi was giggling like a pleased auntie, cheeks flushed and puffy hair pulled back with a big scrunchie. "Today you will see Michi's Serious Side!" the older woman announced, making two fists. "Please take care of me!"

Each one vies for his target to the point that there’s no point of pursuing him further. Unfazed, he contnues to nurse his Shaymin the rest of its treat, picking up a BRIONNE SODA for himself to help cool down.

The call for a race starts with everyone pairing off. Fernando teeters the startling line, either too unfamiliar or too slow to pick a proper partner. Fortunately, someone else is bold enough to make the first move.

“Ah. Of course.” He pulls a fake smile from his assortment of practiced expressions, surprised by the sudden turn of events. Her smile, so sweet that it makes him sick, prove remarkably attractive. It stirs old feelings, ones he didn’t know he still harbored, in a callback for someone strikingly similar.

“The Silph Speed Star is nothing to scoff at.”

He plays along, pandering to his audience, despite the inward cringe that bubble in his stomach. Such cheesiness doesn’t affect him—he can say anything at this point—but it still hurt his pride.

His only recompense was that it was a beautiful day.

Miles arrived in Verdanturf to deliver news he himself had yet to fully swallow, news that he doubted he ever would. He'd been out of contact with all family since the passing, and so many had yet to even learn of the untimely demise of Ms. Leona Sharp. Though Leona and her sister weren't particularly close Gloria deserved to know of her sister's passing, and the only one that could pass the news other than a tiny obituary perpendicular to an ad about one of the numerous machoke moving services in the region was her only son, her pride and joy, Miles Sharp. The first half of his day had been sharing said news of his mother's death with his aunt, consoling her for as long as the woman allowed and then departing when he was no longer needed while his own grief buried itself deeper in the former devon employee's chest.

Still, it was a beautiful spring day and while his spirit had been laid low that was no reason to deprive his pokemon of such joys. Thus Obelos found himself out of his pokeball as the duo perused the particularly festive town looking for an exit all the while being handed a few random festival goods and treats along the way.

He hears various gossip as he moves through the festival talk of a three-legged race and other small spring events. None of it seemed of any consequence and so it went in one ear and out the other, that is until he spots an actual flesh and blood demon amidst the masses. it was one thing to look for an egg, it was an entire other thing to actually get up and run. but after seeing that the grand prize winners of the egg hunt managed to get some of that weird dust stuff... he was kind of willing to take that chance. but he'd also have to move fast if he wanted to get a good partner. and obviously the most athletic person he saw right now was zac. he was built like a truck which means he could probably move like one too. if he wanted to. sitting up he tried to put on his best pouting look. "zac, be my partner in the race! you're super strong so if i fall you can pick me up!" that seemed like a valid reasoning to him.

A slew of recent bad memories flashed through his mind, and a harsh gulp of the coffee did little to ward them away. Galar felt like some distant paradise he always found a reason to not go back to. Perhaps distance was making his heart a little fonder as well. Thankfully he was momentarily distracted, arching an eyebrow and looking over Alison's shoulder to spot his shiny gengar.

A massive head nudged its way under Locke’s free hand, signaling Ji-Ji’s return. The few kids that stayed behind during the egg hunt had suddenly ran off giggling in pairs, leaving the Drampa to seek attention from his trainer instead.

It was probably for the best. The dragon was likely to start getting tired anyhow, even if he didn’t want to stop playing. Locke grabbed a bottle of water from their bag and poured its contents into a large bowl. While their Pokémon rehydrated, they looked over to where the children had hurried off to.

The beginnings of a three-legged race had called them away, along with several others. Too bad. Locke had intended to try everything the picnic had to offer today, but if it was a game of athleticism and socializing, he’d probably be dead last.

Locke had just about settled for simply watching the event from afar, when he felt a pair of eyes on him.

About halfway between a coffee stand and the tree line was a tall, pale man who seemed to be keeping away from everyone else. In fact, Locke was pretty sure this was the first time they’d seen the guy. Maybe he’d only just arrived?

“Uh, hello! Do you need a partner for the, um,” Locke called out, gesturing lamely at the race.

Festivities, fun and frolicking in the sun.

It was evident the spring brought life and despite all its turbulence, Hoenn was certainly alive and well.

On a lonesome bench he sat in observation, watching the crowds gather and part as the seconds turned to minutes turned to hours.

He saw some familiar face or two enjoying themselves but with the length of his hair obscured by the hood pulled over his head he largely went unnoticed.

It was better that way.

Somewhere in his core he felt, off.

If he was a bad apple today, it was best he remained in isolation to keep from ruining the others.

Piece by piece, he tried to deconstruct his own melancholy while the sweet, savory and even sweeter flavors of his bird themed popcorn kept him sated.
