Though Miles was frequently found on route 117 it was rare that he found himself any further than that rarely if ever venturing into Rusturf Tunnel. But there was a note of a swarm of pokemon, that while Miles found particularly spooky due to the nature of their being and how eerily reminiscent they were to Kurozuka. Creatures mentioned in old folk tales around Lavaridge particularly to keep children from wandering jagged pass at night. Tales that still made the full-blown researcher uncomfortable when he thought about them for too long. Thankfully it's not too long a stroll until the rocket finds his eyes locked on another set of beady ones. A few liquidations from kabuto hopefully put the pokemon out of commission temporarily at least.

One of them had snagged a bag of coins from his hip as he was exiting Rustboro. Chasing this specific Sableye with his Minior in tow, Lev drew out his dagger and cursed at it. "You come back here this instant, or I'll carve those gems out of your eyes myself!" He threatens, stopping to point at the creature."Phobos, Power Gem!"

In an instant, the floating meteorite summons an arc of glowing stones before unleashing them towards the fleeing Sableye. They strike the little phantom on several different points, spilling the bag of coins on the ground and causing it to stumble.

To keep the Sableye from trying to steal a single coin from him again, Lev swiftly unclips an empty moon ball from his belt and casts it forward to attempt to capture it.

A rumor of a horde of sableye caught the burnt scarred man’s attention. Warm crimson colored orbs flickered from left to right, silence filled the air as he searched for this sudden pack of rare ghost and dark types hidden in the forest. Despite not being a gym leader anymore, the man still had he urge to protect Rustboro City from things he could handle on his own. Not the mention, sableye was both his type specialty and word had it that a shiny one was spotted in the crowd. Although Maverick didn’t really care of a creature was shiny or not, something about it caught his attention and dragged him here.

A low unsettling growl ratted in his beloved six foot seven houndoom’s chest. She lifted her nose into the air, nostrils flared as a gentle breeze washed over them. Sableye were a sneaky bunch, being both clever and quick. But before the man could ask the canine what she sensed, a snap of a fallen branch got both of their attention as a sudden waves of purple shadowy figures rushed towards them. Their shadow so blurred that he thought he saw a bunyip at first.

A gleam of their gem in the moon light hinted to what it was. The man gave the canine a nod towards one creature in particular, spotting the oddly colored one in the middle of the crowd. Within seconds, a wall of flames erupted from the hell hounds mouth and washed over the sea of sableye. The main aim was for the shiny as the flames engulfed the center of the swarm in hopes to knock out some and send the rest fleeing back to were they came from.

Sableye. It would be a sin for a thief with an affinity for ghost-type and shiny things to not take this opportunity. Rumors of the Sableye swarm had brought both her and Killian Decker to the site. Killian headed off in another direction to try his luck elsewhere. Lex carefully studied the route’s features, picking the perfect place to lay in wait for one of the mischievous PIXIES to venture close enough for her to seize the opportunity.

When the time came, a tight grin pulled across her lips, a dual colored sphere swiftly flying towards the ghost.

“How the hell did this happen?” asked the mechanic, studying a basketball-sized chunk that had been taken out of the back of the black sedan.

“Chupacabra,” Chryssa said calmly, envisioning the giant grappling hook that had actually pulled off her side door. The Rustboro street racing scene could be brutal— she wished she had the disposable income to find a mechanic to make similar modifications to her own vehicle. As it was, she was limited to Foundation funds— and while ‘car for transportation’ was no problem, ‘grappling hook and spinning chop saw mount’ were not as easy to write off.

The mechanic squinted at her— he wasn’t blind to what happened in the city at night. He was just surprised the teenage girl was a part of it. “Your insurance don’t cover cryptids,” he said after a moment of thought, adjusting his cap.

“Fine. It was a Sableye then,” Chryssa said, inspired by the one which had just hit the window of the machine parts shop. It crawled up and out of sight as she watched, dragging a Carbink behind it. “It thought my car was a car-bink, if you can believe that.”

“That’s quite likely. Did you hear about the swarm in the city?” the mechanic asked, scribbling away on his notepad. “They’ve been causing all kinds of chaos lately. That’s easy to report to the insurance companies. We can have this fixed up in a few days.”

He offered Chryssa his hand, stained by oil and grease. His gaze was searching. “As well as any... future incidents. Try to be careful out there, kiddo.”

Chryssa took the hand, eyes gleaming. “Oh, I will.”

Soldiers spread out towards the horde with Growlithes in tow, leaving the young Officer to stand alone at the back, arms folded behind himself.

The call for assistance had come, so he had sent a detachment. Then, he promptly attached himself to it upon seeing the college books waiting for him at his desk.

Seeing how he was alone, the young man blew a raspberry at no one in particular as his shoulders sagged, feeling his several recent all nighters weigh him down.

Eyes heavy and fluttering, he wobbled on his feet, eager to rest, almost welcoming the creepy little Sandman approaching him with gleaming eyes...

"nopeNopeNOPE!" The youth suddenly yelped, his eyes flying wide open as he stumbled back, arms pin wheeling for balance. His gaze snapped to the unwanted visitor, and-!

No creepy sandman. More like a Chupacabra, really.

"You missed one." He grumbled into the comms, lip curling down as a net ball slipt from under his sleeve into his palm.

Adrian was just moving some of his belongings out of his apartment in Rustboro (the rent was getting a bit ridiculous so he was moving out,) when the clattering of some trash cans caught his attention. Curious as to its source, Adrian's investigating brings him before a gremlin-esque creature sifting through the trash.

It chomped down on some marbles, though it seemed dissatisfied with the experience. When it realized it'd been spotted, it bolted further up the street. Adrian spotted at least three of them emerge from the shadows and come flagging after their fellows in their late night plight...

After pursuing them further towards the edge of Rustboro, he would come across some other trainers, warning of a Sableye swarm threatening to overrun their streets. It needed to be stopped before they ransacked the town.

He'd track them all night if he had to, hoping for that perfect storm to capture one for himself.

Lots of people found Sableeyes creepy and weird. But Vio kind of liked them. It was probably the eyes. They were big and shiny, but also a bit lacking in expression. Skyler would probably hate them. Then again, that woman hated just about all ghosts, so that wasn’t really surprising at all. That sailor would rather fight hydras or sirens of myth than spend a day just chilling next to a ghost Pokemon.

Vio sighed. If she caught any of these, she would have to make sure to never call for it in the presence of the other.

Annoying, but what could she do? At least while on her own like this, she could indulge a little and observe the Sableyes and their odd behaviours from afar. Though she was also looking out for any of them might either appear amicable enough to join her, or separate from the swam sufficiently for her to go and try to catch them. Swarms were scary, after all. At least those were not monkeys but more…she didn’t even know. Someone had called them Cryptids. She didn’t get that. What even was that supposed to mean?

Like the Kraken itself, the Sableye came without warning. The Carbink in their mouths gave even Josh pause. What had caused them to mass in this fashion? He wasn't sure, himself. There didn't appear to be an answer to this question and the Ranger doubted he would find one. Still, it was becoming a problem and if they weren't stopped, they would likely cause a great deal of trouble around Rustboro. So with a deep breath, the Ranger Josh Dragomir flew overhead atop his Charizard, Fawkes.

"Air Slash."

Hoping to send them scrambling back, he would have the Charizard attack a fair few of them. Hoping to thin them out, Josh also dropped a Pokeball into the gathering hordes...

He was kind of stuck on what exactly to do, the little sableyes NEEDED a food source to survive, but in doing so threaten the whole of the carbink population. What should he do? Should he do anything? Carbink were fairy type and could fight back...while he had this internal dilemma. He saw a strange creature running at him WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT A CRYPTID? WHY WAS IT GREEN? After it ran straight into him and knocked the pair over, it turns out it was just a sableye who was covered in moss. Bryan immediately got angry and slammed the pokeball straight onto the sableye's head.

The dark was terrifying. The dark was cold. The dark brought nightmares in the form of unexplainable noises and indecipherable shadows. They reach, fingers sliding down her back with cold dread. She feels paralyzed, numb, and yet her feet carry her into the dark anyway.[break][break]

Her Happiny had run into the tunnel and been swept up into the arms of one of the Sableye. And, despite the fear that gripped her the moment she stepped out of the light of the sun, she knew she couldn't turn back until she'd retrieved her Pokemon.[break][break]

Fortunately, what with the trainers crowding around to handle the swarm of ghost-type Pokemon, the shadows were less intimidating.[break][break]

But still, she found herself struggling to hold onto the trick her mother had taught her: to focus on bright pink, sparkly unicorns. They run around in circles in her head, like counting sheep - but these sheep had long legs and sparkly skin and spiral horns. [break][break]

with the way they eat the carbinks, priam is reminded of stories about chupacabras in some fantasy setting called puerto rico. he silently wants to cheer for them because the crunching sound was so satisfying. it's fucked up though, so he tries to remove the thought out of his head and grab a pokeball.

much like everyone else, he joins with randomly throwing one in hopes to capture one of them. he hopes he doesn't get one since he's not sure what he'll do with it anyways. maybe he'd sell it or something, he supposed.
