The route connecting Mauville to Slateport City is one Mars himself knows well. Living in the former and working in the latter, the highway is part of his commute whenever not travelling by air, and such being the case, when hearing of the heavy fog that overtakes it on this particular morning, it’s his trusted Psyduck that is sent to help deal with the situation.

Clad in an adorable POG Bank-themed hoodie, Penelope arrives all too early, her CLOUD NINE ability causing the fog to begin to disperse the moment she steps onto the highway.

Mayhem along the roadway is cause for some alarm on the emotionless birds behalf, quickly taking to the sky in order to DEFOG the area. Another avian, a Mandibuzz, appeared to be entertained by the evident crashes going on. How depraved...

Xatu's efforts improved as it moved away from the bad influence. So much so that a trainer waved to it as it flew past them, aware that it was there to help. Ah yes, it was a good feeling to be thanked for your services.

Nico didn’t need to bother with simply defogging the area-- her Cloud Nine negated the effects of weather entirely. So while Pokemon like Mandibuzz and Xatu cleared sections of the roadway, Nico got to work doing things her own way. Travelers in her stretch of the road would suddenly find themselves able to see through the fog as though it wasn’t even there.

Nico even helped some people who’d run their bikes off the path or into objects. Good job, Nico!

WANTED: POKÉMON NEEDED TO CLEAR HIGHWAY FOG

A neat advertisement posted to the main Poké Job website, which Barnaby skimmed fairly often when he had a spare moment at work. This one in particular caught his eye, as he saw it as an opportunity to test one of his newer Pokémon.

Étienne needed experience; he was a wild thing, prone to fits of unbridled energy and panic. Due to this, Barnaby accompanied his BRAVIARY to the job site on this early April morning. He figured it'd be a good opportunity to test how his Pokémon's training was developing in a realistic setting.

Car horns honked, biker's bells tinkled as they pedaled past, other Pokémon hired for the task meandered around doing as instructed by their caretakers. It was not a neutral scene by any means, and therefore a perfect test of the raptor's mettle.

"Étienne!" Barnaby called out loudly, so as to be heard above the background noise.

"Defog this stretch of road," A gesture was given to indicate the approximate distance that the BRAVIARY needed to cover. "Careful, steady wingbeats. Just as we practiced."

it wasn't a surprise that help from pokemon was needed to aid the safety of people from the accident prone areas of the roads. low visibility due to weather was, after all, not something people could deal without pokemon.

if only they were like golduck.

the golduck appears to be in cloud nine regardless of situation. not only do the skies not only affect the pokemon, his mere presence seems to suggest that there would be no unwelcome weather around.

the water-type walks about the area in an attempt to help, though there's seemingly no other place he could actively participate to get rid of the weather since all he needed to do was be around.

What was it with all the fog?!

No wonder there were so many accidents happening, they needed Pokémon who could dispel the fog—why the hell was one part of Hoenn turning into fucking Silent Hill with how thick the fog was in places?!

It was time for the Pokémon to save the day!

Hilariously, Alexei had sent off his old soul of a Drampa to help with the ‘Silent Hill’ situation. Thankfully the Drampa’s ability, Cloud Nine, helped to negate the effects of the foggy weather somewhat.

But it was still not enough…

From a distance, Meringue almost perfectly blends in with the foggy skies that clog the route. She soars down, an elegant wisp of cloud on an otherwise dreary day, and with her comes a few soft beams of sunlight through the mist.[break][break]

Her cloud nine ability helps to disperse the oppressive fog, revealing patches of clear blue sky above. Meringue chirps happily at her fellow volunteers, pleased to see so many fellow avians amongst their number. Perhaps they can share some birdseed later...[break][break]

But first, there's work to do. Just as benevolent as the trainer who had sent her on this mission, the Altaria is quick to fly to the aid of anyone who may have been lost in the fog. She's quick to come across a backpacker who had fallen and seems to have twisted their ankle. Gingerly, Meringue extends a wing and allows them to clamber onto her fluffy back, and she quickly flies them off to get some help.
