Pacifidlog was a sleepy little town out in the South-eastern Hoennian sea, and despite what was going on with the world today—

Some people still found time to distract themselves, even if but for a little while.

So anyone and everyone who had boats that could make the trip, were out there racing in the seas right now.

(Just hope they don’t get stuck in an area where the ripping current was stronger than it looked!)

Somewhere, out on the water—

A Primarina floated around, lazily, up on her back, waving her fins at whoever humans were on the strange boats that raced by.

Cute, wasn’t it?

What do you see before it's over? - Blinding flashes getting closer

Sails were swaying in the wind, ships were sailing, waves were waving and water pokemon were doing their job. As Noah watched from the beach taking an interesting and well deserved one day summer break, watching the racers do their thing while he tried to figure out what on Arceu's blue earth was actually going on, Maybe, just maybe nautical racing was a little too fancy for him.

On the other hand he was also keeping an eyes out for his Staryu who was the one doing all the work for the day, being one of the buoys that kept the racers on their tracks, bright colored and as pretty as a jewel, perfect to be spotted from up close and far away, Pentine Noah had called it for some weird reason.

The Staryu would shake itself whenever a boat would go by, likely trying to wave at them but the poor thing had no arms so it was a little rough. From what noah could tell it was trying to copy what an adorable Primarina was doing. It was an interesting sight to say the least.

Elaine was the perfect Pokémon for this job. If the Water-types hired for the races needed to act as buoys and guides for the participants, what better Pokémon than a starkly yellow, rotund AZUMARILL?

The shiny variant of her coat contrasted well with the ocean around her, much better than the usual color of the species.

Now, Elaine took her job very seriously. Jumping out of the water to be more easily seen, directing boats and riders with her little arms as if they were traffic flags. You get the idea. She was into it. She had to be - BARNABY FINCH's name was at stake. All of his Pokémon were expected to master their tasks effectively. If he gave them the privilege of going out into the world, he demanded perfection.

Anwhistle was use to this sort of thing - this isn't his first rodeo at corralling wayward water-goers. Though he must say, not having to chase after people and merely float at his designated spot was an upgrade from the usual patrols he went on with his trainer.

Now normally, the Lapras was a relatively even-keel sort of pokemon. Little phased him, given his trainer's extracurricular activities. Today, however? Today he was in a techy mood and the perfect outlet was the unsuspecting racers who veered too far off course for his liking.

matias should have read the prompt better because blastoise isn't the best swimmer. it's tanky and slow but it floats! which is good.

in any case, matias and blastoise arrive punctually, as expected from them. he looks around for kyle lopez and realizes he must be late so they start without him.

Wifey had asked him to help with a job, so husbando would oblige. This time around, Josh had sent his Blastoise Bastilo out for the job. Bastilo was an old hand of his, from long back when he had first started his journey. So he knew that this particular Blastoise was as reliable as could be, and could get any job done if asked.

Though the Blastoise had expected to be helping his Trainer directly.

Because, egged on by the Small Josh, Big Josh had chosen to participate in the race. But even if he wasn't part of it, the Blastoise would wave his flags eagerly when his trainer passed.

kyle's remoraid was the special kind of buoy for this event.

will you get a bullet seed hitting the hull of your boat when you get too far from the course? or will you get a chunk of ice from ice beam? at least it's not the difficult-to-clean octazooka or just straight up acid spray reaching the boat.

nevertheless, it earns the remoraid turn of the race a reputation for the watchers. for sadistic and casual people, it seemed more entertaining than most of the race.
