and somehow, she feels small compared to the boys. sure, she knows and sort of knows but the most recent addition is smirking at her and she's not sure whether to smirk back or tuck herself away.

she settles for a smile and a small movement closer to jayden's unoccupied side.

"nice to meet you," she murmurs.

the conversation shifts enough for her eyes to wander. while she's curious to hear and discuss the latter's incredible shade of hair, there's still so much going on around them.

her eyes pause for a moment toward the edges of the crowd, the sight of a familiar stoic face drawing most of her attention. and before she can smile or wave him over, looks away toward a blonde at his side. she stiffens slightly and keeps her eyes moving.

she finds next and immediately turns her head away. better to not start with him again...

focusing back into the conversation in front of her, she does her best to look like she belongs. she doesn't but she can play the part if only for a night. it doesn't get her very far as 's sticky ice cream begins to drip too close to her sandals.

"hey," she murmurs, nudging him slightly. "your ice cream..."

Eyebrows raised, the reporter carefully eyed the approaching redhead. Did they know each other? Not that it was any of her business.

Upon her search, hushed whispers slipped in and out her ears, beckoning her to lean forward whenever they would arise. Most, if not all, were about... ? It seemed 's song choice had created a stir among Hoenn's finest gossipers.

Furrowing her brow, Penelope raised herself to her tippy toes, eyes set onto a new search with a new target: the topic of conversation herself.

What do you see before it's over? - Blinding flashes getting closer

Noah didn't really know what he was actually doing here. He saw a crowd and he kind of just followed it, truthfully fed up with his poor excuse of a performance at most of the activities at the splashfest he wanted a break so he guessed that following the crowd towards the main stage was a great idea, especially not knowing what was actually going. Marvelous.

First came the speech from a familiar face, although someone he only knew from watching the recent news about everything. Noah had always lived in his own little secluded world, not perfect but it was his own but as someone who had been pushed towards the more egregious and unfortunate side of life due to his Ranger work and the ideals he held made the speech itself seem very forced. Sure that Hoenn could survive and go on but at what cost, Noah had seen the results of someone surviving horrible encounters, he had dealt with someone very close to him being hurt by things beyond their control. Was it really worth to break some to save a few others? He didn't know the answer to that, he also had doubts that anyone would ever have the right answer. He just wasn't exactly happy with the words that were spoken.

Now came the concert. Noah would stay still for a few seconds trying to really take in all the things that were happening, the music itself wasn't something he was particularly fond of but it wasn't the worse thing ever. The lyrics felt a little weird at first till everything made a little more sense. To him the beat was just a little lacking, perhaps it was due to him living his life and working in the kitchen with everything at higher speeds, Preferring things that had a little higher BPM.

Looking around and searching for at least anyone he could recognize within the crowd he would actually find the most unexpected person, . Making his way towards his Captain, pushing and shoving his way through the bopping crowd, making sure to not harm anyone till he reached his Superior Officer. "Heyo! Didn't expect to see you here!?" Noah was quite puzzled till he noticed that Tam was interacting with two individuals, a red haired guy that he had never seen in his life and a pretty and delicate looking female. "I... Apologize for the intrusion!" Noah would try to speak load enough for the two to hear. "I'm Noah! One of Tam's Rangers." He would speak once more. Giving a respectful small bow towards and then reaching out towards for a hand shake. God he hoped this wasn't about work.

He shook his head, messing it up a bit due to essentially clinging onto his friend. "Flashes here and there. I can't keep up with you guys!" he complained before feeling a pat on his shoulder and turning over. He brightened immediately, not at all bothered by the interruption. "Hi Illie!!" he greeted, loosening grip on Jayden before dropping it completely as he began to speak with his hands. "Really? I guess it's 'cause I don't get to see him that often." he said excusing himself. [break][break]

To be honest, even before Jayden had unceremoniously left for Kanto, he had still been clingy. Perhaps not comfortable enough to do so with Jayden, but previous friendship or...his friendship with @artemis had always been very affectionate. Perhaps that was the thing to blame for recent- or?? older developments in their friendship. [break][break]

His eyes moved to , giving a quick start as he looked around before up at Jayden and back at Knox. "Oh-! I'm pretty???" he's sincerely floored. Cute was the go to. Not pretty. But the flattery works all the same tinging cheeks a vivid pink. "N-Nice to meet you! Didn't you throw a really fun hose party last year?" he asked. [break][break]

The rough words do nothing to dissuade his excitement as a hand reaches up to tuck a stray piece of hair behind his ear. "I'm Mint! And thank you~" After all, Mint was rather proud of his luscious lock, still growing them out ever so slowly. "Any friend of Michail's is a friend of mine, right Illie?" he said turning to the scientist. Truthfully that's really the only reason he even knew one of Hoenn's brightest. He's not sure how Jayden knows her...but he doesn't question it. [break][break]

The music is still blasting and Mint feels parched already. "Have you guys had some shots yet?" The fuckin' lightweight.

Aidan couldn't help bu chuckle at the remark from the girl in front of him. "A lot of bullshit." He would mentally agree with her. He had heard many speeches like that in his past and most of the times it was just pure lies to fill the void of empty inability to answer any form of crisis. He didn't believe a single word that was spoken and he was damn sure that the splashfest and any form of entertainment that would soon follow would simply be bread and wine. "Tch. Things never change." He would speak up sounding annoyed. [break][break]

As he would step enough to be next tot he girl so he could at least interact and learn some things. Getting information was crucial in the environment Aidan had come from so it had just become a second instinct to him. "You really don't believe that crap. Do you?" He knew the answer by her reaction a bit earlier, still wanting to learn a little more of what was going inside her mind and why that was her first reaction.[break][break]

Before he could probe a little more something magical and quite adorable happened right before their very eyes. A Oricorio would land on the girls shoulder, as it's who Aidan assumed to be it's owner popped in from the crowd the little bird would hide between the girl's hair and pout. Not even Aidan's barely alive heart could handle such a scene, it was adorable. He would chuckle again but this time it was at least a sincere chuckle. This was bound to be an interesting little interaction.[break][break]

"Pleased to meet you, Elisabeth. Patron of flowers." Her voice is a slow drawl that drags over every syllable as if taking the time to taste them. The woman's deadpan tone is matched by Skyler's own roguish enthusiasm, tugging the corners of her mouth into a visage of delighted satisfaction.

Curiosity sinks its hooks into her flesh and hurls her, willing, into the woman's gravity. At times like these, Skyler could be the very definition of fuck around and find out. Oh, and how she did want to find out.

"You too, Felix." She peers lazily over 's shoulder at the dark-haired man, unwilling to let him fade back into the shadows. "D'you agree with Elisabeth's assessment, then? Are you a cryptid?"

Unlike the florist's impeccable posture, Skyler is a chiropractor's nightmare: all but draping herself over the seat and casually leaning back onto her elbows. The erstwhile umbrella from her cocktail has found a way to the back of her ear, and gets lost among the unruly mane of hair. 

Sweat cools on the back of her neck and a second cocktail soon finds its way to her lips. Skyler looks up from its rim as she focuses on Elisabeth again. 

"And what brings the patron of flowers to such an event? The music? The drinks?" A raised eyebrow. "Can't have been Dahlia's inspiring end-of-the-world speech."

In contrast to 's drawl, Elisabeth voice was lilting, almost airy, in its southern Kalosian accent. It suited her own regal bearing, which had been ingrained into her at such a young age that she possessed an uncannily stately posture. One that, admittedly, had precious few applications to her life in Hoenn... save, perhaps, for Rocket interrogation rooms.

So when the wild-haired stranger leaned forward, eager to invade Elisabeth's own personal boundaries, the blonde's own composure remained unshaken. Instead, her smile widened, like a Skitty that had been handed a most-unexpected ball of yarn.

She was entertained.

"You sound most unconvinced by the commissioner's promises, Captain Dross. Surely you have all the faith in the world in our esteemed League's ability to protect us during this crisis?"

The statements themselves came out with breezy nonchalance, but the sarcasm laced through them was unmistakable.

"Felix here was just saying he wished she had asked the citizens to instead stew in their own misery, rather than enjoy their summer."

And she sipped at her mojito, green eyes flashing with silent delight at whatever tiny chaos she might have provoked into being.

”Hey. I’m Tam.” His response comes in the most neutral tone possible, and his expression matches that. He doesn’t even smile when appears, but to Noah that probably would be no surprise. That’s just how Tam is, after all. How he has always been. Wait… If someone he knows also joined them, does that make him an extrovert now?! Ugh. Hopefully not, that sounds exhausting as fuck. It's at this point that he decides to lightly stomp out what little is left of his cigarette, maybe for Noah's sake.

Casey sipped at his drink. It seemed that for all the world he couldn’t take that square of blotter paper off his tongue unless he pinched it off. His cup looked like it was taller than it was. He could faintly see his reflection, and didn’t like seeing his own eyes in that moment. He wanted to smash his reflection, but decided against it. A faint buzz between his ears led him to look back to Matias.

Casey looked down, and thought for a second. He tugged at his collar comically, and bit his tongue. Even before he disappeared, he wasn’t exactly able to parlay his family connections into fame. “Couldn’t give me that kind of notoriety if you tried. If her mom found out I could sing… God rest my soul. I’m fine with doing public access radio.”

Katherine blinked at him, leading Casey to need to perform! For attention! He leaned into the counter, trying to make eye contact with her. Despite being six feet tall and jacked, he looked tiny next to the mountain of a man that was Matias. He opened with a smile. “…I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is Casey Maverick.” He reached an arm across the counter, offering her a chance to shake his hand. Fish-scales and fins were tattooed up the length of his arms, while his fingers had two black rings on each of them.
