He looked over in the distance—there was a rather large snowball fight breaking out at one part of where the contest was taking place.

Thank heck they were out here at one of the quieter corners of the judging grounds!

He then stopped to look at his snowboy, which looked… weird, because it now had two bottom bits and it looked like a snowy butt. Man, what a mess.

“Don’t tell me you just want to hibernate until spring?” he asked his boyfriend, putting his hands on his hips. What a conundrum to have a boyfriend who thrived in the heat and wilted (literally) in the cold weather.

“You know what I want us to do in the snow this year?” he mused a few moments later as he continued working on his travesty of a ‘snowboy’.

“I want us to at least go sledding at least once. C’mon…”

[attr="class","thadmain"]She was about to make a flirty (but snide) comment when a snowball smacked him in the side of the face and all her systems went to red fucking alert in .02 seconds. Luckily for all parties involved Gremlin was too busy shoving snow in his face to be ordered to battle stations so as Isaac wiped the snow away from his face and Cyg moved to make sure there wasn’t, like, acid in the snowball or something she calmed enough to realize that it was a) an accident and b) generally harmless fun.

Isaac’s depth perception may have been off but 17 years of softball meant Cygne’s was not as she bundled up her own projectile and stepped onto the front lines with Eris Halla and Locke Jamison and began chucking snowballs at… well, at literally anyone she could see, adrenaline fueling her arm and the lingering remnants of panic dissipating from her system. Isaac had gotten roped into this by accident so who’s to say other people couldn’t, too?

Gremlin has turned from innocently munching snow to solidifying more ammo with ice fang to crystalize everything with a light coating of frosty saliva.

The chitlins decided that none other than Martín del Mar and BARNABY FINCH were going to be the next target for their reign of frozen terror and she happily obliged, lining up a shot dead even with Barnaby’s chest and wishing Elisabeth Fiorelli was here to see this shit.

With Snuffles satisfied with her food offerings and Julia's hands and belly warmed by some hot chocolate, it was time to resist the urge to hibernate and instead join the snowball fight! Though when she returned to the battlefield, Julia found that it had become an all-out snowball war. She had no idea who was on which side, though.

[break][break]She ran behind some cover near Hideo Kino. (She probably shouldn't have been putting so much pressure on her stump, but she was sure it'd be fine. Besides, it was a snowball fight! How often did you get to have one of those in Hoenn?) "Status report, General Hideo?" she asked, her voice taking on a comically serious tone. As she waited for the report, she started gathering up snowballs to use as ammunition. Spot and Snuffles, meanwhile, gathered up more snow to use for the actual snowboy.

There are many ways to win a war, but it would seem most people around him have forgotten the real showdown for which they all had gathered here in Route 119. Not Mars, though! Mars is a man of many talents, and his ability to stay focused while also multitasking just happens to be one of them (very much needed when one is both CEO of a Bank and Team Rocket Underboss).

Green scarf or blue?” Mars asks BARNABY FINCH when adding the finishing touches to his own snowboy, a gorgeous emerald green scarf being held to the left of his gelid work of art, and a royal blue one to its right. ”Green is more festive, of course, but I was thinking that if I add ice buttons and other details of the sort, I can make it look like a Galarian Darumaka, which would be adorable.”

Galarian Darumaka are cute, alright? And the fact that it would probably appeal to their not-nearly-as-adorable-but-somehow-endearing Darmanitan judges would be a nice plus.

A pair of snowballs smash against Mr Rime’s barrier, yet it holds true, doing its job of protecting the snowboy from any further harm. Each sphere of snow remains perfectly spherical, each icy decoration remains in place, and after a blue scarf is carefully wrapped around the spot where the top and middle spheres combined, Mars takes a step back and takes in his own work – satisfied for now.

It’s then that a snowball sails right over his head, higher than what the barrier can protect.

Oh right, the other showdown.

”Hmm. Relentless, aren’t they? I like their spirit, though.” Mars smirks, and from a fourth Luxury Ball, his Aurorus is released to stand between them and their assailants. At almost 9’0”, she towers over most pokémon present, serving both as attack and defence all at once.

”Clio, dear, do as you do best.”

It’s a matter of the Aurorus’ mere existence. The crystals on her body produce icy air, and in a way much more potent than the SNOW WARNING called by the small Vulpix in its adorable Christmas sweater, Clio calls snowfall upon Locke Jamison, Ashley Shepard, Isaac Merlo, ana fell, Eris Halla, and even luka chêne. As flakes begin to violently fall in an endless flurry, she seems pleased, thriving in this gelid environment of their own making.

"I'll buy you hot chocolate if you give up! How about that?" Mars tells the small group over the sound of the snow, giving them his brightest smile.

In the end, perhaps Locke Jamison had been right.

Upon the audible arrival of Julia Davis , Hideo offered a salute - which was mimicked by his Beheeyem. “Welcome to the battlefield, Lieutenant Julia!” he said, an ironically-serious tone to his voice. “We moved in to engage Eris Halla ’s forces after she ambushed us. She’s deployed a number of Woopers that we’re currently in battle with.”

The sound of several snowballs hitting his Crabominable would be easy to hear, though the large Pokemon didn’t budge. “Corporal Crab is ensuring our forces remain safe as we dig in. Private Fuzzball is doing the digging.”

The snow flying out of the makeshift trench marked where the Swinub was currently Digging.

“And Brigadier Beartic is leading the assault. As long as she doesn’t stop and go into hibernation, we’ll push those Woopers out in no time!”

His Beheeyem peeked around the Crabominable, narrowly avoiding getting a snowball to the head. “...hmm…Intelligence Officer Elga is saying Eris is gone. We better keep an eye out in case she’s trying to flank us.”

He was thoroughly enjoying his stint as General, a wide smile on his face - he had to wonder if this was how John Sullivan felt when he was ordering people around.

It was a miracle that he'd managed to dodge the onslaught of sabotage as time ticked down with the snowboy construction. Adroit hands continued to work with what little snow he had left to try and make the final portion of his snowboy. His helper pokemon flopped over on its back, ready to turn in for the day. They'd been there long enough, they should have been finished by now. Jesse flashed the Zorua an apologetic smile and gently stroked its head.

"Soon, I promise. We can go home and warm up with some warm cider and cookies."

Once the Zorua seemed satisfied with its master's promise, it went right back to pushing snow into a pile for Jesse to work with.

On God, he was over this contest shit. Not only had his snowboy been ruined once, but twice. He simply watched in horror as the Glaceon all but jumped right through another piece of his creation. Jaskier clenched his teeth, ready to shout at the overly active Glaceon that pranced about, but the thing that held it all together for him was the apology that mint frost offered for his pokemon. Jaskier took a deep breath in, allowing himself ten seconds to calm down. That's the shit therapists and the like said to do when someone was angry, right?

"I guess it ain't a problem, it was just a misshapen piece anyway," he breathed out.

His attention was pulled back to Taiga as he was presented the ring once more. Her reasoning was, well, reasonable. Jaskier fitted the band back onto his index finger and gave a nod. He wasn't hurt in the slightest, if anything, he understood. Both Jaskier and Taiga themselves had plenty to unpack before they could even think of something like that. An arm wrapped around her shoulders as he pulled the redhead close and kissed her temple. It was a more gentle approach to his typical ass-grabbing antics with her.

"Sounds like my kinda not-so-silent night."

A cheesy play on words, but not as cheesy as the idea of getting their jingle bell rocks off.

with danny gathering the remainder of their pokemon, micah was focused on making the last piece of her snowboy. this was like something out of spongebob squarepants as she started freaking out over the different 3d shapes her hands came up with by accident - a square pyramid, a cube, a fucking dna double helix? [break]
this may take her a while, the darmanitan judge that watched over micah at that moment even starting to lose hope. it was better off calling it in early and hitting hibernation mode than watching this one brain-celled creature mess in the snow.

"wow, look at you," taiga whistled, impressed by jaskier's ability to keep it all together despite getting sabotaged twice in a row. truth be told, taiga was finding more and more reasons to sink into a fire-type supremacist view of things since ice types seemed to do nothing but cause trouble just like the glaceon had. of course, she didn't say this out loud. there was no reason to antagonize people that she wouldn't remember tomorrow.[break]
thus, she continued packing snow together into different shapes and primarily tried to help out jaskier with his own snowboy to help soften the blow to his mental he had received from being hit twice in an event he wasn't even too keen on being in. "sorry," she muttered under her breath, almost too proud to say it out loud. her gaze was focused ahead on the glimmering snow as she continued to form what she hoped to be a piece at least one of them needed.

Eva continues to pat down the top of her perfectly constructed bottom to prepare it for the middles as Pearl collects . . . decorations?

“Pearl, we gotta build a middle first! But I guess we can use these for later,”s he sets aside the collected decorations. Eva playfully wraps the extra green and red scarf around the Glaceon’s neck, “See! You look cute!” she swears Pearl rolled her eyes at the comment before trotting off to collects more snow.

“Oh that’s uhh, that’s Eris Halla,” she leaves it at that when her brother asks. Their history is far too complicated to get into while building Snowboys.

Before he could properly thank her for such a thoughtful gift, he felt himself fly forward as she used the scarf to pull him into a possessive kiss. For a split second, he felt surprised, but found himself quick to recover as his head tilted to the side to better accomodate the blonde's bold action. Though it didn't take his hands long to find her hips and grasp them gently. Though possessive in their own right, the moment seemed genuine for the two -- a moment of surrender in the dangerous game of cat and mouse that Gaultier himself unwittingly played a part in. Once they broke apart, he took Esmee's hand and kissed her gloved palm in a show of his own affection.

"I could never find myself cold when I'm with you, mon chouchou. Your presence alone has been enough to rekindle me and allow me to burn anew."

It seemed she'd came prepared with her gift to him. Gaultier himself figured it best to wait until the day of celebration to give Esmee what he had gotten her. At least then, she had something to look forward to. (Joy swelled in his heart to be able to have an excuse to celebrate a holiday he had put off for so long with no purpose to celebrate prior.) As the Banette, Falinks, and Kadabra all worked together to attempt and finish the snowboy for their trainers, Gaultier could only appreciate the more domestic moment the two of them shared. Those moments were ones he had begun to find more comfort in than their frequent office trysts.

"I figured a nice gift for you would be jewelry of some sorts, but I won't tell you what I got you just yet. It'll be a surprise."

[attr="class","skullbody"]The little guys were making a big splash! Barnaby and Mars were buried under a strong initial onslaught from the Snowletariat. Yet a war was rarely won in a single preemptive strike. With the numbers game not in their favor, Martín del Mar and BARNABY FINCH decided to even the odds with a veritable onslaught of Pokemon. Mars and Barnaby called up walls of shimmering light to keep them safe. Mars opted for a ranged approach, returning fire not with snowballs but with an actual Blizzard. Barnaby instead decided to be the tip of the spear, using Mamoswine to push against the assault and cover his fast-flinging -viles.[break][break]

"Two can play at that game!" Isaac said as he ducked behind his snow bunker. The good thing about all of the snow colliding with it was that he had much more snow to work with. The better thing about all this snow was that Isaac had just the Pokemon to make use of it.[break][break]

In the toss of a Pokeball, a Vanillish appeared. Jerry drew all of the loose snow from Barnaby's assault towards it to form a particularly whippy topping, then began practically painting new layers onto the base with swipes of his big, dumb head. When he started running low, he began sprinkling his own personal reserves of Hail for further reinforcement. If Isaac's bunker was just a shitty little corner before, now it was actually starting to shape into the snow fort of his dreams.[break][break]

A second Pokeball contained a more unexpected combatant. Just what was a Jolteon doing here? And why was Duster handing his bone to it? A Thunder Fang answered that question; rather than discharge, the prolonged contact with an electric type move only drew more power into the bone . . . and more . . . and more . . . and more. What was the big idea?[break][break]

Power. That was the big idea. It was glowing white by the time Duster took it again, all of that electricity empowering his Lightningrod to startling degrees. Mars had the stronger Pokemon, and natural ice typing on his side, but Isaac had that classic Isaac ingenuity. With one swirl of his bone, an overloaded Blizzard shot towards Mars' own, forming what would surely be a glorious clash in the middle.[break][break]

The conflict was going wonderfully. It was to the point where Mars was offering bribes! Isaac laughed a little, popping out from his fort at unexpected angles like a snowy Wiglett to try and catch Barnaby's -viles off guard with snowballs. "Our will's as solid as our fortress! You're never gonna break either of 'em!" Isaac called back, laughing a little as another snowball pegged him in the face. Duster and Ivan barked in agreement, while Jerry just base built with a vacant expression on his face.[break][break]

And Watson? He carried a bucket as big as he was, looming behind Isaac with a spark of mischief in his eyes.[break][break]

How foolish. The way to a Watson's heart was right through his stomach. Isaac never even stood a chance. By the time he turned around, it was already too late. Watson had dumped all that snow right on top of him, leaving the poor man turned into little more than a snow poff. Rasping victoriously, Watson hopped, skipped, and jumped over the pile. His destination; the fancy hot chocolate man![break][break]

Would the Snowletariat fort be able to hang in there without its grand architect? Isaac could only hope the makeshift alliance of ana fell, Locke Jamison, Ashley Shepard, and luka chêne could succeed where he had fallen.
