Blastoise lumbered through the main hangar of the Mossdeep Space Center, her tail swinging as she approached the large, bird-like machine that would ferry humans to the dark sky above. Though she did not understand the humans' desire to reach space, she understood why they needed such a vessel. Like her, they could not simply fly to the upper reaches of the atmosphere like other Pokémon could. But she did not share their interest in the stars.[break][break]

No, she was at the Space Center that day because her master had offered her services to ensure the spacecraft were ready for their flights. That meant cleaning their outsides. Naturally, she was the perfect fit for such a task.[break][break]

Aiming her cannons at the starship, Blastoise drenched it with WATER PULSE. Humans scurried around to avoid getting wet, returning once she finished spraying the hull to apply soap and scrub it around with brushes on the end of long sticks.[break][break]

Blastoise huffed a sigh. She did not relish the menial task, but at least it did not require much effort from her. She only hoped her master would finish his visit with the Senior Astrological Observer soon. Then they could go home, and Blastoise could enjoy a swim in Slateport's ocean.

Brody did not understand why so many Pokémon referred to their trainer as their master. There were many things the Slowbro did not understand, but he did not care. Life was too short to lose one's zen over such trivial matters.

Anyway, while his sister from another mister went on a trip to the moon with her human friend, Brody was told to assist the nice people at the Space Center with cleaning their spacecrafts. The chillest Slowbro who ever lived conjured a big tidal wave that washed over the dirty spacecrafts, Surfing on it for style points.

Would those man-made machines remain operational after being doused with that much water? Well, that was for the astronauts to find out.

Being able to help space exploration in any way felt honorable to Toshiaki. So when he heard he could do just that he jumped at the chance. Granted, it’s nothing more than heavy labor, but it’s better than nothing! Faced with a giant space shuttle covered in grime, Toshiaki cracks his knuckles and throws out a Pokeball.[break][break]
“Go, Buizel! Use Hydro Pump!”[break][break]
Mustering all its strength, Buizel's sacs inflate as his cheeks fill with water. Afterward, a power blast of water shoots at the dirt and grime, effectively washing it off. A successful HYDRO PUMP![break][break]

Theoretically, this may have been a bit of a tricky job for Pago - given that he lacked in moves like Water Pulse, or Hydro Pump, like his peers present here. He couldn't exactly douse the ships from the ground like they could, which might have posed a problem otherwise... But what he did have were too moves - Dive, and Aqua Jet - and there were plenty of surfaces that he could reasonably climb or stand on, to use the move!

Thus, whilst the others were probably focused more on the sides, Pago was focused more on the tops of the ships - propelling himself upwards with Dive, and then moving along the surface with Aqua Jet. In no time, he was working hard to get all of those more stubborn splotches and tough-to-reach spots squeaky clean!

That’s alright, though. No Mega Evolution needed. Her HYDRO CANNON is more than potent enough to get the job done as effectively as one would expect from a representative of the beloved financial institution.

To someone accustomed to assisting in a small forge or even the larger workshop run by her trainer's family in Kalos, the hangar and its contents were considerably more impressive. And, while no stranger to being asked to clean, immerse, and douse things with water—especially when her trainer had been younger and less vigilant about working with fire and high heat—Sealeo had never expected to be asked to cleanse anything as large or complex as a spacecraft.

However, the Sealeo's trainer had volunteered her services while attending a tour of the space center, and the Sealeo herself was willing enough to help out if she could. She did breathe a sigh of relief when she was guided toward only a specific section of the spacecraft—specifically, the propulsion rockets—and asked to clean there, though. This was far closer to the scale on which she was used to washing. Thus, she approached her task with far more confidence than when she'd started.

Gazing thoughtfully at the design of the rockets, the Sealeo first considered using BRINE to clean and scrub off the components. Then, thinking further, she shook her head no. Though BRINE was undeniably a strong Water-type move, particularly in battle, the water it released was, well, briny. Using saltwater to cleanse might be useful in some situations, but Océane wasn't sure it would be a good thing for spacecraft components as important and intricate as its propulsion system.

Instead, taking her time and working slowly, she used her WATER GUN methodically across all the myriad surfaces of the rockets and propulsion system to squirt away grime, grease, and debris. Knowing very well how even a tiny impurity could become a problem when heated to blazing-hot temperatures, the Sealeo was careful to not leave even a speck of dust remaining on the rockets. It took a long time to finish, but when the rockets were thoroughly cleaned, the Sealeo sat back on her flippers and smiled beatifically with satisfaction at a job well done.

Just how much ~~fire~~ water power was needed in order to clean a spaceship?

Well, the brochure didn’t specify a specific Water-type move, just bring something and throw it at the spaceship hanger to help hose down the spacecraft that were housed there.

And so today we would find a Sealeo waddling along, escorted by one of the employees before being pointed to a particular problem spot for it to hose down.

What, hose down? All she knew was Water Gun! Definitely nothing as powerful as Surf, or Waterfall, or even Hydro Cannon…

But even then, there was a niche for finesse-level cleaning, so here we were.

Ready, aim, and—

A precise burst of water fired by the dual-type, looking to scrub out a particularly nasty patch of dirt.

Another day’s work done!

Toki knelt down next to his Popplio "You ready Azura? Think you can handle this without me?" He asked her, and she just stood on her tail and puffed out her chest with her flippers on her sides confidently "That's the spirit, go do a great job, I know you've got it in you." He said with a proud smile.

She looked across the craft and spotted some spots that were in serious need of deep cleaning and she certainly had a good plan in mind to do that! She took in a deep breath and exhaled a stream of bubbles using Bubble Beam to coat the problem spots on the craft, getting a nice coat all across its surface. Next, she would carefully climb along the supports and look for a good spot to slide down. Once she did, she did a stylish little leak and water erupted around her body in a thick shroud as she used Aqua Jet to slide along the bubbles she left behind, giving the craft a deep clean as she zipped down the sides of it. Over and over she would repeat this motion, and if one didn't know any better they might think she was having fun. She was absolutely having fun.

After a few go arounds with the same moves, the spots were looking great and sparkly. She admired her work, beaming proudly.
