“I don’t see why you just cannot cooperate,” they hiss as they step through the opening just outside the Cave of Origin, not once missing a beat in the conversation. Behind them, they leave Levy Alinsky to mind their shop. “Can’t you just—“[break][break]

Beside them, tapu koko snubs them and turns its head away. In Fern’s hand: a nice, luxury pokeball.[break][break]

But it is of note that it does not abandon them to this meeting.
Though it refuses Fern’s requests, it continues to drift alongside them. Peering around at the looming cave and its forbearance with obvious curiosity. Stubborn, and yet also compliant—just in its own terms.[break][break]

A prim little sniff from Fern is the cap on their disagreement, and they pocket the pokeball then recall their dragapult with another. On entrance, a warm smile is spared for Tempest Quinn, their hand settling on his shoulder briefly as they pass. “Thanks for being here,” they greet, and even tapu koko regards the other with familiarity as they continue.[break][break]

The bickering casualness slides away in favor of formality. Chin tipping up as they tug the lapels of their jacket to straighten it. All business. Or about as business as someone like Fern can be.[break][break]

They suppose this is how the official announcement is made— no flair, no excitement. Because the island deity refuses Fern their sense of panache (lamentable, really,) in allowing them to unfurl it from a pokeball at their whim and discretion. They will gripe about this later, while refusing to acknowledge that in the same way, they would refuse the same puppeting. A pot calling the kettle black.[break][break]

In short, those who weren’t aware prior to this meeting, well… now they would be.[break][break]

Fern’s pale eyes seek out Elisabeth Fiorelli in particular as they enter the room. They make no greeting to the underboss, but there is still a silent question in the tilt of their head. Nothing is said of their recent meeting, but… Their gaze shifts to the snail in place alongside her. Hm.[break][break]

Then they are deviating, offering a wave across the table to mint frost and a nod to Cillian Quinn as they slide into the seat saved for them alongside jayden cross. The air of confidence and formality in their demeanor doesn’t break as they lean sideways toward their partner, but it does soften somewhat, just for a beat. “Hello, you.”[break][break]

Attention traveling to the seat on their left, the smile on their face slips for a second, before pulling into something taut and overly polite as they survey the newest head scientist positioning himself nearby. The warmth in their tone leeches away in indifferent surveyance. “…Kaname.”

Kaname softly smiled, amused by Underboss Elisabeth Fiorelli ’s remark. He had intended to respond to the Underboss when they caught his eye, it was Admin fern delaney accompanied by an unusually colored Tapu Koko. Kaname’s expression tightened instantly as he watched the forger make their way over; silently wishing he’d taken a seat on the other side of the table.[break][break]

Despite the tightened facial expression, Kaname did his utmost to remain poised and calm, going as far as to even offer a smile; even as feelings of envy, resentment, and disdain blossomed into reality with the Admin’s indifferent greeting. “Admin Delaney, good evening. I hope you are well.” Kaname said, his tone measured and formal. “I must say, that’s an unusual looking Pokémon accompanying you. What is it?” Kaname was certain he already knew the answer to the question, but he couldn’t help himself. He wanted Fern to say it.[break][break]

“Mm. Well enough,” Fern hums, glance not leaving their nailbeds as he replies. “Likewise.” The return is flattened down to pancake—nay, crepe, thinness. Of course, their nailbeds do not need examination. They are carefully kept, with nails neatly lacquered with a bright teal shade. Still, they make a show of it. Picking at an uneven edge is much more interesting than devoting full attention to Kaname Fujihara.[break][break]

They halt, however, at the follow up that Kaname provides. Blinking a few times, Fern sucks their teeth, the sound whistling through their mouth before it’s punctuated by the click of their tongue. They do not fully turn toward the head scientist, but their head swivels in his direction. Suddenly their voice weighs itself with a honey-sweet drip. Saccharine sweet, cloying and contrived—as contrived as the smile that widens itself across their face.[break][break]

A hint of teeth. A snarl if it catches the light right.[break][break]

But then it’s tempered by a bright chuff of laughter. “Sorry? Are you insinuating that I don’t know the companions I keep?” They are careful to avoid insinuating ownership. The stuffy pigeon is a clever one, and it won’t take kindly to that particular simplification of their transactional relationship. The island spirit splits attention between the two of them for all of two seconds before flitting away. It would like to find Marza Volchitsa once she arrives so that it might heckle her for a moment. “I would think that a scientist specializing in biology needn’t ask what something is.” They lean forward just a tick, brows raising, "Someone might question your credentials."

Jayden blinks fondly at Naomi Sato as she sits across from him, and even nodding at bryan delarosa as he embraces her too. He nods over at parker jones as she leaves the room to join the other security guards, looking up at the familiar voice of one Kaname Fujihara as he finds his way over to them.

[break][break] "Good evening, Kaname," Jayden greets the new Head Scientist. Czar stands beside the man's Galarian Slowking, his arms encased in bright blue flame.

[break][break] To everyone who walks into the room, the Admin gives a polite nod of acknowledgement but it is only when fern delaney walks into the room that he shifts his whole body towards them. There is a soft affection reserved only for the other Admin, head tilting towards him in greeting. "Hey."

[break][break] He observes the Admin engage in polite conversation with their new Head Scientist. Jayden is pleased to see that the other two are getting along. Pride flits in his gaze as Kaname Fujihara asks of Tapu Koko.

[break][break] "Admin Delaney is impressive, are they not?" he says, completely oblivious of the rising tension between the two. "They met Tapu Koko in the Lesser Megalopolis."

[break][break] "As are you, of course, Kaname. Congratulations on your seat."

[break][break] He had given the other a personal congratulations already, of course, but it was only expected that he give him a public one as well.

Marza was probably late to the party, but someone had fried every clock in her vicinity (along with various other things, including her hair). The air of the cave was cold, prickly. The shadows gathered in thick, cloying masses between the teeth of the cave's opening. With a quick nod to parker jones (who looks exceedingly uncomfortable) and the rest of the gaggle of guards, she slipped inside. The higher ups of Rocket lingered within like a very sad birthday party. A big congregation of very depressing people, to which Marza could find no difference. She was a loathsome old bitch too.

Of course, she couldn't make it to the damn table before a very annoying Tapu Koko decided to pester her. She had not learned her lesson, of course, immediately swatting at him and was rewarding with a quick jolt that made her hair stand on end.

"Sorry, I'm late." She muttered, fixing her hair. Narrowed eyes fixing on fern delaney for the destruction of all of her electrical devices and the consistent annoyance of his buzzing new companion. Why she even bothered attempting to assist him in controlling his stupid new powers, she had no idea. It wasn't a complete waste of time, but it felt like a financial loss nonetheless. It also had a direct part to play in her refusal to sit too close to him.

Instead, she sat next to the underboss Elisabeth Fiorelli . She didn't know much directly about the woman, but there was something compelling in the way the air seemed to sit around her. Like a descent into madness or ruin. Either way, it felt powerful. "Better to be feared than loved." It was a sentiment she could appreciate. "Then you won't mind if I sit here."

Fern seemed to be having a pissy fit with Kaname Fujihara , the guy that also looked like the people she used to shove into lockers. It was like watching theater nerds fight. Good, someone else for Fern to shock. Seeing jayden cross white knight was pretty great too. "There a problem, children?"

Zev's gaze slid sideways to Elisabeth Fiorelli as she spoke, taunting everyone clustered at the other end of the table. He suppressed a sigh, not willing to indulge her with even that small reaction. Clearly, she hadn't considered another possibility: that people simply did not care to be in her proximity.[break][break]

Zev, at least, did not feel the slightest inclination. Ever since she'd tried to invade his mind months ago, he only felt hostility toward her, unknowingly enhanced by the GRUDGE stoked by her Ruinous Beast. The only reason he tolerated her at all was the professionalism important to his reputation.[break][break]

fern delaney's arrival was enough to divert the conversation, especially when Kaname Fujihara addressed the Copperajah in the room: the unfamiliar Pokémon that had entered with Fern. The answer came from jayden cross, however.[break][break]

"Tapu Koko, the guardian deity of Alola?" Zev said, arching an eyebrow at the Pokémon as it flitted toward Marza Volchitsa.[break][break]

That only meant one thing: Fern was an Avatar or on the brink of it.[break][break]

Zev leveled his icy gaze upon the admin. "I didn't see any reports about this news."[break][break]

The skin of his hand itched as black crystals rippled across it, turning his fingers into wicked claws. In a flash, they were gone, receding back into his body like the ebbing tide.

The hitman did pick up on Cillian Quinn's word choice, revealing Elisabeth's statement for the lie it was. And of all the people in the room, Zev respected Cillian the most.[break][break]

It wasn't like Zev actually cared for the report, either. If anything, he felt a stirring GRUDGE that his own search for Necrozma hadn't come to fruition yet.[break][break]

So he settled back into his chair, tearing his gaze away from Elisabeth to regard Theo with an incline of his head as the underboss took a seat.[break][break]

confusion comes with the purse as it's given to him by Elisabeth Fiorelli. a head tilt was the only greeting he could give the underboss until she disappears into the cave of origin.

he picks the pep back up as soon as it happens.

one by one, each high ranking personnel of the organization make their way to the cave. priam doesn't interact with the rest as much, giving them a slight nod should they take notice of him.

he wasn't the star of the show of the day, but he wanted to get the option to be able to swoop in and save the day if the opportunity arises.

in the mean time, he was to do as he pleases. while he had been a late addition, the request for him being approved by itself meant that he wasn't out of place. they were alright with him here, and priam had no reason to feel awkward.

the previous invitation for a promotion comes to mind, but he easily dismisses it with his own thoughts.

"hey," he calls to parker jones, being the only one who doesn't seem to be too serious to interact to, as soon as the rest of cast got inside. "want to play 'what's in the bag?'"
