EXPOSITION (2020)

WITH THE OLD ROCKET supposedly vanquished from hoenn, the region now faces incredible dangers spawned by the energies of ultra beast invasion. despite the thin veil of peace, the public still faces unease. aggressive pokemon wander the wilderness, some mutated into their mega evolved forms.[break][break]

the scars of mossdeep's ultra beast invasion remain fresh alongside the blacephalon's destruction of slateport's night market. further still, legendary pokemon continue to appoint avatars, causing more alarm than awe. in the meantime, a reformed rocket attempts to poison the ground water of hoenn's society in secretive fashions, biding their time until they strike once more.[break][break]

in this grand region called hoenn, what unseen threats still slither in the dark?[break][break]

EXPOSITION (2021)

AFTER THE ULTRA BEAST WAR, hoenn begins to heal. the megalopolan invasion may have failed; however, it is clear there is much more at stake. a prophecy revolving around a cyclical meteoroid, the appearance of necrozma and a dangerous and viral alien threaten the safety of the region once more.[break][break]

with rocket's new boss, the resurgence and reappearance of the crime syndicate's presence is imminent. the league has done its best to repair its reputation, and with the victory of a war under their belt, perhaps it is enough. but the seeds of distrust have already been sown in the ravaged land of this region, causing many to wonder what will grow?[break][break]

WAYS TO PLAY / TRIGGER WARNINGS

THIS SITE'S SETTING is more realistic and darker than other Pokemon forum settings. Elements of war, terrorism, gang-related crime, exist in Hoenn. However, players do not need to roleplay these darker genres out, nor do they need to participate in site events that are related to the darker stories of this forum setting.[break][break]

Hoenn's event cycles often feature casual events on top of story events, with either kind dipping into slice-of-life or darker themes depending on the narrative.[break][break]

Lastly, there is nothing wrong with joining Hoenn just to enjoy slice-of-life plots or without participating in the site's overarching plot! Even though the setting may be impacted by the story, feel free to RP what you would like in a respectable manner.

SETTING NOTES

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO CONSIDER

• slateport city can be considered the "hub city" of this roleplay. although it was invaded and destroyed once by the old team rocket, slateport city has now been rebuilt. after the supposed "disbandment" of team rocket, slateport city is a lively urban center for the public.
• the "official" team magma and aqua do not exist this setting.
• team rocket has attacked and the previous leadership (SILAS BLACKWELL) was overthrown and killed. this has resulted in team rocket's "disbandment", but they have quietly reformed under new leadership. now, team rocket has returned, hoping to dismantle the league in hoenn after presenting their invaded region of kanto as having better quality of life under their rule. the timeline goes into further detail below.
• humans with “psychic powers” or "aura powers" do not exist in this setting.
• you have creative freedom to decide whether pokemon use their names as their cries or more animalistic sounds, or a combination of the two.
• legal drinking age, etc. is 18.
• religions surrounding mythological pokemon (e.g. arceus, tapu lele, etc.) and related rituals do exist in this setting! you can have fun with this to a certain extent. furthermore, there may be multiples of the same legendary.
• avatars, champions or ambassadors of legendary pokemon with supernatural powers, exist in this setting. these characters receive boons from these legendaries through events or special happenings. check the canon list for more information.
• the following pokemon do not exist or are undiscovered except for characters that have explicitly encountered them in-character: mewtwo, deoxys, zygarde (10%; complete), type: null [known to a select few], necrozma, genesect [created by rocket])
• physical injuries heal faster in this setting thanks to healing pokémon, but still require skill in the medical discipline.
• ultra beast pokemon have finally been introduced to the setting thanks to the imperious invaders event. however, more the most part, the public does not know what they are or where they come from. ultra wormholes have been appearing hoenn, causing widespread alarm and fear, for ultra beasts have caused widespread destruction with every appearance.
• mega evolutions are a recent discovery in the world. you can find more information here.

NOTES ABOUT GALAR

• only a select few would know about the darkest day or eternatus (meteorite).
• dynamaxing does not exist in the region of hoenn; however, gigantamax forms are mega evolution forms. more information can be found in the swsh expansion pack thread.
• dynamaxing exists in the region of galar, but it is not as rampant as it is in the games. dynamaxing is reserved for big championship battles or flagship gym battles. furthermore, occasionally the wild pokemmon dens in galar will feature dynamaxed pokemon, but the government tries to keep the public away from them.
• in other words, a small, exclusive minority knows of the cause of dynamaxing in galar.
