[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Aurelie pouted a little in disappointment when jack wainwright quickly said his goodbyes and departed from the festival, before shrugging and turning back to Yuina Higashi. Noting the faint crease between the young Ranger's brows, the redhead wondered if she'd said anything to offend or upset the other woman. Did I mispronounce her name? Did I talk too much? she thought.

"Hey, sorry if I said anything bothersome just now," Aurelie ventured cautiously, flashing Yuina a sheepish smile. "I'm happy to have made a new friend too after everything that happened. I hope we can grab coffee or brunch sometime after the festival is over!"

For now, though, she bent down to pack more snow together to help build the body of Yuina's snowboy. Aurelie smiled softly to herself, surprised by how much she found herself looking forward to hanging out with a new friend at some point in the new year. Her smile deepened.

"After how chaotic and confusing the last year was, it'd be lovely to do something normal and pleasant like that," she continued. "I hope you feel the same way."

A sudden breeze made her shiver, and Aurelie glanced up to see the sky darkening overhead as twilight fell over the festival. Biting her lip, the redhead focused on helping Yuina finish her snowboy in time, packing together snow to build a sturdy body and secure it atop the base. Just as she patted the body into place, a series of loud, celebratory booms and the sound of joyful cheers fill the air.

Aurelie lifted her head to gaze at the sky, her eye going wide and a soft gasp escaping her lips at the sight of the brilliant, scintillating fireworks exploding overhead. She watched in wide-eyed pleasure as more fireworks blossomed in the sky like flowers formed with petals of sparkling fire.

"Ooooh, how wonderful," Aurelie breathed out in awe. She let out a loud cheer as the fireworks show concluded with a spectacular, colorful pyrotechnic display augmented by glowing dragonfire. "What a great way to end the festival! I'm so glad I came this year and got to experience it all."

As Yumi wandered the stalls with nabi park and Mei Liu, something unique caught her eye. She froze in her tracks, eyes wide, mouth open in shock. "Is that what I think it is?" [break][break]

She hurried over to the merchandise booth in question, not caring if her friends were following. Using her elbows to make room between two people (Alexei Ivanov and Elise Calcifet), she quickly snatched up the object that had grabbed her attention. [break][break]

"It is!" Yumi exclaimed, her shout quickly transforming into melodic laughter as she picked up the 2024 RANGER CALENDAR. She flipped it over to ogle the preview images on the back. [break][break]

"Look at how ridiculous this is!" she shouted to Mei and Nabi as she waved the calendar at them, pointing at it with her other hand. "I might just buy it!" [break][break]

Ambling over to Althea's work area with a skewer of dango held in each hand, Rhys paused as he noted the Audino's efforts to combine her snowboy had, if nothing else, intensified in his absence. The pink pokemon had maneuvered three increasingly enormous spheres of snow near to one another, but hadn't quite obtained the height or reach needed to begin stacking them.

"Here, now, let me help," Rhys grinned warmly, leaning down to hand Althea the treats he held - with a playfully admonishing "One of those is mine!" - before setting to work, heaving the body of the snowboy atop the base. Glancing about, he caught sight of the head and carefully lifted it to place it atop the now-complete figure, turning it slightly to adjust the angle of its hat.

Althea cooed in delight as she danced about in front of the completed snowboy, and Rhys ruffled the top of her head affectionately. Beaming brightly, the Audino stretched up to offer Rhys the extra dango, which he took with a ceremonial flourish. The pair popped the treats into their mouths simultaneously, and almost as though in celebration of their accomplishment, the first fireworks burst into life in the sky above.

Althea's wide eyes lifted upward in wonderment, and Rhys grinned softly to himself. He hadn't looked forward to making an appearance, but he had to say that it had been worth the time of an evening. He'd take the calm moments where he could get them, after all.

Though Remiel Calcifet had helped organize the SNOWBOYS EVENT, it still took him a while to muster up the courage to show up to it. His conversation with luka chêne in the privacy of her office still echoed in his mind. He swore he could still feel the sting of her slap across his cheek.[break][break]

In an attempt to take his mind off things for a while, however, the exiled prince saunters off to a nearby Belgian waffle cart. The EMOLGA on his shoulder squeals with anticipation as they do so. RATATOSKR was a relatively new addition to his family of Pokémon after having found it on his porch back at VERDANTURF.[break][break]

Despite not having much experience with rodent Pokémon, however, Remiel had taken a quick liking to him. He reaches up with a single hand to give the little Emolga scritches beneath its chin as they wait in line. Though their attention soon shifts to the explosive display of a beautiful FIREWORK that lights up the sky above.[break][break]

After paying for a calendar, Yumi returned to her friends' side and started unwrapping it from the thin, protective plastic. "Let's take a look, shall we?" she said, giggling. Perhaps the spiced wine had affected her more strongly than she'd expected. [break][break]

Before she could open her prize, however, FIREWORKS bloomed across the sky, deafening all present with explosive noise. Yumi started at the sound and looked up, eyes wide. [break][break]

And then she smiled. What a wonderful day it had been. Not only did she have the chance to play in the snow, but she did it surrounded by friends. She took a deep, refreshing breath of crisp winter air.

The FIREWORKS SHOW was a marvel. Both Remiel and Ratatoskr marveled at the display of colorful lights that illuminated the night sky. Despite having arrived to this event very late, the exiled prince was at least thankful to have arrived soon enough to witness this.[break][break]

But, of course, it did not fail to leave him wanting for someone to watch it with. Thoughts drifted to other firework shows in his past. Of the people he had watched them with: friends, family, and the loves of his life. Most had gone their separate way since then, for one reason or another…[break][break]

And, in the end, here he was: sitting on a bench alone with his Pokemon while intermittently eating away at his Belgian waffle.[break][break]

In the middle of seeing the fireworks in the sky, Elise would be pushed by another goer for the Snowboy Showdown festivities and she’ll let the other woman pass to get her calendar. Though the ambassador still longed for her partner to come see it with her, being able to see the fireworks with Alexei was good enough. Even Memo probably would miss it just because Alex told her he hated the snow![break][break]

Elise ends up purchasing another 2024 Ranger Calendar for the Galarian Embassy and both buys were in a white tote bag. Because who wanted to look at the most attractive rangers while they pose with cute Pokemon?[break][break]

And she ends up separating from Alexei a little (sorry Alexei Ivanov !) as her Mismagius follows her though the diplomat’s other Pokemon were playing with other in the snow. On the way to the benches, she sees the form of her elder cousin sitting alone with his Pokemon, an adorable Emolga.[break][break]

“Hello cousin.” She greets the elder prince with a smile, her pale cheeks warm with delight at seeing him since Remiel was helping set up the Snowboy Showdown with Miss Chene. The royal Galarian ambassador and princess takes a seat next to him too with her Mismagius floating at the side. “The snow here reminds me of Hammerlocke’s snowfall in the winter months.” Her voice becomes wistful, a reminder that she can’t go back home now that Remiel’s twin brother has his hold on a recovering country.[break][break]

But even if she couldn’t, her duty to her country and its people remained here in Hoenn. “Have you gotten my letter? I don’t want other people to see how idealistic my dream is since I’d want you to help me fulfill it…for a more gentler world.” The Galarian princess pauses a bit before correcting herself. “Not just that, but my ideal world is that I want both Hoenn and our country to be more gentler.”

She'd rather spend that money on tickets. A sigh, and she wanders through the rest of the aisles, looking over what else there is to offer.[break][break]

She picks it up and flips through the pages. [break][break]

"... Why are they wearing clothes?"[break][break]

A frown, and she pays for it anyway. Surely the proceeds will fund the ranger program, even if she'd prefer a different kinda calendar.[break][break]

The ghost yips, disappearing into a stall. He emerges wearing a mask, floating through the air in his ghostly form. Baki laughs, picking it up before it falls off his snout and putting it on. It's a remarkably like the ones her mother used to describe in her journals.[break][break]

"Another year, another mask, huh? Guess it ain't much different than the last. Wonder if we'll have a chance to just be ourselves this year."[break][break]

Unfortunately, it seemed that the concerned stranger hadn't, in fact, seen Trubby. So, Mitsuru hurriedly excused herself before continuing her search for the little trash bag. Where could he have gone? Eventually, her frantic searching brought her to the merchandise booths. If nothing else, there were plenty of people around. One of them had to have seen Trubby, right? And so, she approached.

"excuse me! Have you seen..."

Her question was cut short as she laid eyes upon the 2024 Ranger Calendar, and her mind went black. Um... Well, surely Trubby wouldn't be in too much trouble, right? After all, there were plenty of big dragons wandering around as security! Surely, nobody would be silly enough to trubnap him with Garchomp and Salamence around? S-so, she could afford to delay for a few seconds, right...? Right...!

"Um, uh... One Ranger's Calendar, please..."

"Trubbish!"

Meanwhile, Trubby continued his efforts in sculpting the greatest snowboy known to Garbodourkind. Pristine white snow turned off-brown as he molded it in his little hands, before dumping it into a dirty pile. Then, he proceeded to smush it into shape, bringing it all together and forming a not-quite-sphere, a veritable David among the Pokemon art world.

Truly, he was the Trubbelangelo of his craft.

TL;DR - Mitsuru purchases a Ranger calendar while I try and ignore my sins against Snowboy Showdown.
