It didn’t take too long for them to eventually get to the Draconid shrine, and then there was something else for them to do—ooh.

“Hey, if you still have time, you want to try the… writing a letter with your hopes and dreams? I know, I know, absolutely cheesy, but it’s an offer there!” he pointed out, taking a few minutes to read through the paper there with instructions on what they were supposed to do.

“Oh, you can address it to someone else?” he continued as he read downward, wondering if it was a good idea to—no, if it was hopes and dreams… wait.

Maybe he would.

Maybe he would actually put that one dream of his in writing, and hopefully never have the other person read it because apparently the letters were going to be sealed and then burned at the end of the year.

“What, are you willing to write a letter? Because I am!” he chirped as he grabbed a piece of paper and then looked for an empty bench where he could sit down and write down what he wanted to say…

Simply, his letter read only this:

‘I wish for the courage to be more open, and if you would say ‘yes’ to the one big question I wanted to ask you. I know, it’s too fast, but… remember the time we thought the entire world was going to fucking explode? Well, we can take it slower now, so. You know. I wanted to ask the big question, but I don’t know what you’re going to answer when I do.’

Obviously this letter was going to be addressed to Guillermo Marceliño, before he folded the paper up hastily and added some notes in Russian cursive at the bottom before sealing the envelope and making sure nobody else could see what he wrote down!

Ettie didn't know too much about the Draconids. But from what she was able to learn, they were people who worked closely with dragon-types a long time ago. Though, the shrines - both the one she visited not long ago, and the one she is approaching now, drawn in by the Salamence's display - are fascinating, to say the least.

The buildings look so different from that of Fortree or Mauville - from a lot of other places that she's seen before, really! Though, it was hard for her to articulate the specifics of what or how... Could she do something like this, with her own den..?

The snow was pretty, if you asked Kama. It was soft and glittery, and stretched out as far as the eye could see - even after the strange change that a visit to a Space-time Distortion brought on him, it felt homely. Though, that change did mean that it was - indeed cold.

But! That was what his booties and fingerless gloves were for. He could make all the snowballs he wanted, and play amongst the snow as he pleased while Makoto did their thing, without worrying about his extremities getting too cold!

As El walked about the shrine... They couldn't help a soft yelp, as a snowball hit the back of their shoulder! They blinked a bit at this, glancing back...

... To see their Gholdengo, Midas, already going for another snowball; though he did not throw it again straight away.

The message was clear - and El, smiling, laughed as they crouched down to put together a snowball as well. If he wanted to play, then they were more than happy to play with!

The Draconid shrine is in their vicinity when she and Alex would reach it. She felt a bit worried that her partner hasn’t been there yet, but Alex begins to ask if they wanted to write a letter of their hopes and dreams for the new year. “I have some time, so I’ll write a letter with you.” The female royal nods to the gym leader as her Mismagius lifts a blue ballpoint pen from the desk by the shrine for the ambassador to use. Elise takes a paper from the desk too and thinks of what she’ll write.[break][break]

“It does say I can write a letter addressed to someone too.” Elise looks down at the small print saying that one can write something to someone else if they wanted. After deciding on a recipent for the letter, Elise starts writing down her hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the new year to her beloved and dearest cousin, Remiel Calcifet .[break][break]

“To be honest, when I have heard from the Rockets that captured me that you’ve betrayed their organization, I was not sure what to do anymore. I looked up to you when we were children and to find out that you were formerly in a heinous organization that razed the hometown I was born and raised in, it is normally unforgiveable. But…you are still family and even if part of me shouldn’t trust you anymore, you were the one person that was nicer to me when others were not.[break][break]

Anyway, it is my hope that we can talk this out about your circumstances when we’re able and when I can clear up in my work schedule. While you have your IDEAL world to give birth to with Zekrom, my wish is that I want to use that TRUTH of Hoenn being a dangerous place to live in and the political situation in Galar to create a much more gentler world for people to be happier and live in peace…without all of the conflict and the bloodshed. Fortunately, the damage wasn't too bad. Being packed into a snowball meant that the rock's edges were covered, so it didn't draw any blood. It'd leave an ugly bruise, sure, but nothing serious. That did not make Mitsuru feel any better, though.

"I'm fine, I'm fine...!" She lied to Eko Darling, pulling herself up to her feet. "Don't worry about me, I'm alright."

Some start to the Year of the Dragon this was. "New year, new me" was starting to feel a lot more like "same crap, different day". Ugh... Well, at least it couldn't get any worse...

His penmanship leaves a lot to be desired. Despite being forced to sit at a desk for hours on end as a small child, his skills in hand-writiing weren’t all that noteworthy in the end. [attr="class","aurelie_body"]As she bent to pack together a mass of snow—whether for Beau Fontaine's snowboy that her wayward Alolan Sandshrew had rolled into or for her own, if he declined her help—Aurelie couldn't help thinking back to the opening speech in the brief, waiting silence. It'd been short and sweet, just long enough to express festive sentiments without wasting anyone's time, and delivered with panache.

But the words "amnesty program" sent her mind flashing back to the last time she'd heard those words, on a rocky promontory out to sea. They'd been spoken by Isaac Merlo, who'd declaimed them like a line of poetry while standing tall and upright before her, like a hero from a story. His eyes shone with optimism and his voice sang with hope as he offered her the chance he'd taken: the chance to be forgiven and reclaimed by the League, all past sins overlooked, all slates wiped clean.

Aurelie drew a long, shuddering breath at the memory. It would be easier if she could hate him for it. If she could just be angry at him. Nothing cauterized a wound like the flames of rage and loathing.

And to some extent, there was anger. There was blame. But if that was all there was to it, the memory wouldn't send her emotions into such turmoil. It wouldn't hurt so much.

A cloud passed fleetingly over the sun and the world dimmed briefly around her, matching the gloomy melancholy of her mood. I believe in Isaac, but I don't believe him, Aurelie thought. And I don't believe in or trust the League or their supposed amnesty.

When the sun came out again, a ray of sunlight slanting onto the snow she'd packed together provided a welcome distraction from her bleak thoughts. Quickly rolling it out of the way, Aurelie hastily shook her head to clear it. Such thoughts had no place at a cheerful festival like this.

The redhead beckoned to her Alolan Sandshrew to come help her with packing together more snow. A proper snowboy needed good construction materials, after all. She looked up inquiringly at the young man in the Pangoro beanie, wondering if he'd noticed her drifting off in thought just now.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Despite the people bustling all about the route, there are often spots that go overlooked. Much like a Froslass in her natural habitat, silence accompanies her lonely watch amidst the snow, detached from the festivities of the mortal realm.

But at some point, she feels a passing gaze - Not quite sharp, ever so familiar and fleeting as a fae in the wild. Curiosity taps at the back of her mind, ever present much like the Mimikyu that sways upon her shoulders. And it only seems content when she spies a familiar mop of hair wandering amidst the crowd, satiated when she takes those first few steps to follow.

Their world isn't ours to dwell in.

She stands before the shrine before she even knows it, her eyes tracing the shadows that carve every corner. Beside her, many scribble wishes of the future, press their hands together if only to offer prayers to those who will never listen.

You would find your time better spent elsewhere, young Eirwen.

The Mawile had proved harder to track down than Eddie originally anticipated. Dodging and weaving through the crowd, he'd managed to keep his eyes locked on the trailing orange scarf until Tsume finally stopped, [break][break]

“Yer gonna give me a god damn heart attack if ya keep runnin' off like that,” Eddie grumbled, nearly ready to scoop up the Mawile and carry him around like a sack of potatoes. But Tsume just cried happily and took Eddie's hand, dragging him onward, [break][break]

“Hey, buddy, where the heck are ya takin' me?!”[break][break]

It wasn't long before he saw the target of the capricious Tsume's newfound interest; out of his periphery, Eddie caught swathes of vibrant crimson and gold decorations, and the rich lacquered wood that made up the Draconid shrine. Tsume finally stopped tugging him along, and before Eddie could think to keep his eyes on the escape artist Mawile, he found himself awed by the sight of it. It was an impressive work of carpentry to be sure; had this site always been here, or was it constructed specifically for the festival? Scanning his eyes over the monument in inquiry, Eddie's gaze caught sight of the Rayquaza sculpture, and the plaque underneath it. [break][break]

A letter, huh? There was something that captured Eddie's interest at the idea of writing down aspirations for the new year. He wasn't much of an author or letter-writer of any kind, but there was something so sentimental about the idea. It struck a particular chord with him, and before he could really examine the feeling, Eddie found himself grabbing a pencil and some paper. [break][break]

Of course, by the time he had finished his letter and slipped it into one of the red mailboxes, he had realized that Tsume had once again run off on him. Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed; well, there was nothing for it but to track him down again, and maybe find a leash to tether him to this time. [break][break]

On the bright side, it didn't take long to spot the Mawile and his orange scarf. He had somehow managed to make it past the plaza, and was approaching a red-headed woman and her Sandshrew. Even from here, Eddie could see the way the Steel/Fairy-type's wide eyes fixated on her, and he watched as Tsume waved one tiny hand to get her attention. Eddie began trudging over, hoping he could intercept his Pokemon before he could bother the woman too much. [break][break]

[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Giving the final pat of approval to the sturdy mound of snow that she'd packed together in an attempt to help out Beau Fontaine, Aurelie hesitated for a moment. Then she started to pack more snow to take back to her own snowboy, sadly neglected now. The one good thing about that, though, was that she had plenty of room to readjust her plans for it and what it represented.

Maybe instead of a robot, I should make it a dragon instead, the redhead mused, putting her hands on her hips. It is the year of the dragon, after all. But am I a good enough sculptor to attempt a design like that? I'm okay with steel or iron and an oxyacetylene torch, but snow...

Her musings were interrupted by the sound of something running toward her through the snow, quick and light on its feet. To her surprise, it was a Mawile, the one running off impulsively from Eduardo Hisakawa. At first, Aurelie instinctively shrank back, remembering the unnaturally aggressive Mawiles that she and jack wainwright had encountered in the Rusturf Tunnel, before reminding herself they were miles—and months—away from that.

Relaxing slightly, Aurelie flashed a bright smile at the Mawile and returned its wave hello with a cheery one of her own. "Oh, hello there! Where did you come from? And where's your trainer, hmmm?"

Judging from its approach, it must have just been at the replica Draconid shrine that had just been set up. As the redhead glanced in that direction to see if anyone was chasing after it, her Alolan Sandshrew eyed the Mawile warily, before flexing its paw wide and also tentatively waving in greetings at the other Pokemon. Aurelie smiled.

In the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a very tall, dark-haired man hurrying toward her. Waving at him as well, Aurelie called out, "And hello to you! Is this friendly Mawile one of yours? It's one of the most outgoing Pokemon I've ever met!"
