the drinks were unfamiliar. as embarrassing as it would be to admit it, she really didn't know a thing about alcohol (save for the few times she has taken a sip or two at a formal event, and her mind turning into a haze the few times she had a bit too much). unfortunately for her, his glance over didn't go unnoticed - and the fact that she caught it brought a slight red to her cheeks while instinctively looking off to the side. she didn't do well with men.

men who made themselves clear, even less.

and men who took joy in teasing the poor soul, less so. when she hears the tease, she was on the verge of saying something - anything, really. it didn't matter, because it was reflex - until she saw the smile and wink. lord arceus, even his voice was trying to tease at her with the drop in tone. she raises a hand to gently twirl a lock of green between her fingers, lowering her head in favour of having her bangs brush over her face. she hopes that it'll at least do something to cover the red tinge.

she takes another glance at the drinks on display, and quietly began to ponder over the options. she knows that she's a light drinker, though she's never recalled the point where she's knocked out. so once she's calmed her face down (read as: soothed the flush), she leans against the stand.

"i'm a bit of a light drinker, but i do want to get tipsy enough to enjoy myself." and loosen up, because gods know she needed it.

Whoever decided to go to the Slateport Beach now, in the middle of summer, was a mad lad. Or a mad lady.

Because holy freakin’ shit there were so many people the entire place was crowded!

Izumi sighed, wondering if bringing the kids to this crowded place was a good idea. It was practically a recipe for disaster should the twins run off somewhere and they couldn’t follow at all.

Thankfully, they stayed pretty close by and didn’t run too far off, so that was a relief. That was, until…

She heard Lyra screaming something about weird, spiky, purple Pokémon suddenly rising from the ocean in a living tidal wave. She blinked at the incoming horde, and then decided that Momiji was too dangerous to have out, so instead she settled on Sora.

Watching as the Braviary emerged from the red beam of light, she pointed at them.

“Make sure they don’t come near the kids!” and off went the Braviary.

It was as if the Mareanie had decided to come ashore en masse and join the people who were already getting some sun tanning time in…

Yikes.

Skyler's not exactly sure what's going on. She'd like to blame the drinks for the absolutely embarrassing attempt she did at jumping rope, falling hilariously (hah) on her bottom a few seconds after it started, but maybe... it just isn't her day.

Ah, well.

The party continues in full swing, and Skyler refuses to let her mood drop just because she can't jump properly. Making her way through the crowd, Skyler reaches the party booth and leaves holding a ridiculously colorful drink in one hand.

Maybe it is time to go for a swim. It isn't a proper beach party without at least one dive into the ocean, after all. And it is sweltering hot.

Except that before she reaches the ocean for a refreshing swim, there's a coming wave of pokemon rising out of it and coming her way. Well, the party's way. Huh.

She sees that a few people have noticed this and are using their pokemon to drive these invaders away. Maybe she should do the same.

"C'mon Saf, let's help."

The golduck stretches herself, then sends an ice beam at the closest wild pokemon.

Screams of panic made the trainer stumble in a rush to see what was going on. Warm colored orbs seeing people fleeing like wingulls as he pushed his way through to see. Upon getting through the panicked crowd, poisonous pokemon started to swarm the beach. Despite being a little intoxicated, Maverick was quick try to help. If he was smart, he could have used a pokemon to get them back into the water. However, the drinking made him do something that probably wasn’t so smart. Rushing forward, he tried to catch one of the wild pokemon.

After several attempts, the man finally got one. He used all his might to lift the pokemon off the ground and waddled back to the ocean. The water was cool against his skin, forcing him to think a little more clearly as he tossed the creature back into the water. Turning, he darted back to the shore to grab another paying no attention to others who were helping or what they were doing. Maverick just kept moving, grabbing and tossing until he would notice they were all gone.

How he pulled off the jumping rope he would never know but the two cats he had beside him seemed to be having fun with everything so that just made him smile too. Honestly the two deserved the fun. Though it seems like the fun was being interrupted by some panic screaming as some random... water pokemon he wanted to guess started causing trouble at the beach. Other trainers seemed to have it handled but as a Ranger he figured he should help. [break][break]

"Remember lets try not to hurt them too much," he comments to the Meowstic who nodded at him as they went closer to the water as both brother and sister used PSYCHIC together to raise a group of them. Once raised Salem let go of his half forcing Sabrina to do some heavy lifting for a bit before using DISARMING VOICE to knock back the group the two and put in the air. Choosing said move as Salem knew it wasn't too effective against them. Though it at least it had enough force to the water and poison pokemon back into the ocean.

Oscar returned to his spot, only to find that Thea had left. His eyebrows furrowed, where could she have gone to? Oh well, it was time to return to the matter at hand. Oscar cracked his neck and walked over to continue work on his fortress.

What he found however, was a sight more horrible than you could ever imagine! Sitting within his fortress was an intruder! A spikey mother fucker from the ocean! The scourge of the deep, Mareanie!

Oscar stood still, dazed at the wreckage of his amazing sand castle. As more Mareanie began to climb ashore, Oscar lost his cool. "Oh fuck off you blue and purple little piles of shit! I'll kill every last one of you sand scum!" Oscar opened a pokeball, releasing his Tyranitar Pain.

Oscar pointed to the Mareanie in his castle's corpse and screamed his order, "Hyper beam!" Pain reared back, charged up power, and unleashed a blast of pure energy at the Mareanie. The beam was an easy hit, and kept going past the unfortunate castle Mareanie right into a crowd of Mareanie emerging fromt he ocean. As the beam reached its end point, its impact caused an explosion that send sand and Mareanie flying into the air.

Oscar did not pay that any mind, instead sobbing into the wreckage of his triumph. "I was so close to greatness!" he cried, his fist in the air. "So close!"

Invasive Pokemon during the event?

A swarm...no it was worse....

Sebastian would be swift to aide the other Trainers in sending the invading force back into the ocean's expanse. Using his team of cats the Rocket would task them all with launching ranged assaults, blasting the toxic Pokemon away before they got beyond the halfway point of the beach. If able the blond would even attempt to capture one if possible, something for himself or Rocket to use for whatever worth it was.

whacking the small pokemon should not be considered fun but kazimir was having the time of his life swinging his paddle around and playing a round of beach golf with them. "fooooooooour!" he smiled as he watched one of them sail off to plop into the water only for two more to come ashore. while he was having fun there was still a whole lot of them and he was just one guy. soooooo no one would complain if he tried to capture one would they? it would be one less mareanie after all and he got a free pokemon out of it, so it was a win win situation! so with a twirl on his finger he threw a ball at one of them before he got back to swinging again to send them back to the briny depths.

Holy shit he actually managed to win!

It shouldn't give him such a giddy feeling, it was just a silly kid's game after all but he couldn't help but be proud of himself at not kissing the ground like how some other competitors had the misfortune to experience. He looked over and saw his Obstagoon and Pangoro look back and give him thumbs up while his Growlithe barked excitedly; jumping on the spot and wagging his cute fluffy tail off. He felt embarrassed at the attention, even though a warm feeling spread through his body at his friend's support and congratulations but it was quickly pushed aside when the shrieks started.

The beach party was being invaded by Wild Pokemon!

Wow, they were so many of them! Where did they come from!? Was there a nest of them nearby that their party managed to disturb or something? He'd worry about that later, first came making sure the public was safe by taking out these Pokemon! "Pangoro, use Vital Throw to send them back into the water!" Not wasting time, the Daunting Pokemon did as ordered, grabbing the Mareanie and throwing them back where they came from. "Obstagoon, make sure they don't get past you, Growlithe..." he trailed off, unsure what his Fire-Type Pokemon could do against what was most definitely a Water-Type Pokemon until he remembered what move the Puppy Pokemon knew after checking on his Pokedex. "If they get too close, Roar at them!"

His inclusion into the otherwise uncharacteristic events was only due to his foolish belief that no one he knew was paying attention to him. Regardless of his newfound shame, Fernando accepts her drink, not to partake but to keep it steady as Stormy undoubtedly decides to fall into the next activity without missing a beat.

"Pass."

Much to his surprise, Stormy hits the beat with each jump. The rope never has a chance and he stands there idly as they continues with each skip. Fernando mentally congratulates himself on skipping the event, sure that he would've failed where she succeeded, and waits for her to finish to free up his occupied hand.

And that time doesn't come soon enough. Mareanie storm the beach and Fernando uses his free hand to reach for a Pokeball. They can't chance anything too forceful considering the crowd and setting, so he defaults to something fit for the beach. His Pelipper circles above while throwing the occasional HYDRO PUMP to keep the swarm back.

His eyes shift to his 'sister'. "Don't make a mess."

But just as she asks this, her hand falls short of taking back the drink because Fern has turned to address the Mareanie situation. He glances back at her, his expression indiscernible as usual, but his statement is clear. She releases something equally inconspicious and unlikely to cause a lot of trouble. [break][break]

The Toucannon flies alongside Fernando's Pelipper, pelting any wandering Mareanie back into the water with BULLET SEEDS. Stormy nudges the man's arm, raising an eyebrow.[break][break]

Gavin beams proudly at Emma, taking a dramatic bow and managing to keep his footing even after the round of jumping has worn him down. It had gotten pretty intense near the end, but he'd nailed it.[break][break]

His smile fades slightly as he catches lights flickering on the horizon, but no storm.[break][break]

Even stranger is the swarm of toxic Pokemon that scuttle across the beach. There's calls to help beat them back, and Gavin thinks a refusal to help will draw more attention than simply sending out one of his Pokemon. Naturally, his Corviknight is the one he calls upon — the steel bird's immunity to poisons was perfect for a situation like this.[break][break]

"Just pick 'em up and throw 'em back," he instructs, giving Corviknight's beak a cursory pat before it croaks out acknowledgement and takes to the skies. With HONED CLAWS it plucks Mareanie from the beach and catches light on its feathers as it swoops over the sea.[break][break]

[attr="class","lance i"]woah! a swarm of mareanie craling across the beach sure sounds like a problem for the rangers. lance springs into action, slightly tipsy but whatever, and meets them head-on.

"i got this! i got this."

whatever drink he has is discarded, placed somewhere on the sand. his hand finds a pokeball and he immediately points to the rushing swarm.

"form a net and stop them."

skittering across the sand, the galvantula spins a STICKY WEB that catches a group of mareanie, stopping them from advancing. squirm as they may, the following ELECTROWEB stuns them, making it much easier for lance to yeet them back into the ocean.
