The whirling orb struck Spectrier, bursting in dazzling, blinding fireworks. The horse reared back, confused, but Zac was there to offer a steady hand. "Easy, easy."

Flames of Burning Jealousy kindled in the dark, and for a moment Zac saw the Mimikyu. "There! By the wall!" he said, slapping Burdock's flank to indicate the direction. He chuffed, and sunk deep into the floor, body melding to shadow as he disappeared into the Phantom Force dimension.

"We've been through a lot, yeah, but that's just part and parcel of being a trainer. I'm sure you and your ghosts have powerful connections too!" Zac's brilliant grin was almost visible in the darkness. "What made ya pick ghosts, mate?" he asked, curious.  

Kibou flapped back at the sizzling wing, beating away the embers. As the light faded, he glorped across the arena towards the Mimikyu, wings slapping at the darkness.

"Fortree is amazing. The conservation center there was one of my first interviews! has one hell of a setup, doesn't he? Have you thought about doing something like that with ghosts?"

"I know what ya mean, I've got a pair of them at home, Zagrea and Zirca. They can be a bit of a handful!" Zac had dug a massive magma pit in his backyard for the Heatran to play in, but since the move to the factory they had been restless. Maybe it was time for another trip out to Mt Chimney. 

He scratched his chin, thinking over the Avatars he knew of. "There are a whole mess of us around, but everyone I know got their powers right away. Maybe there are a few who don't know they've been picked yet! Avatars in training or something. Oh! Avatarainees!" Zac chuckled, and thought about it more, and continued. "When Bulu picked with me, I could feel the connection right away. And now I can summon them anytime. If someone had a legendary pick them, but couldn't summon them and had no powers...I guess they're not yet a full Avatar."

"What sort of food waste place is throwing out psychic brains?" Zac asked, before remembering the popularity of Slowpoke Tails. He looked between Ki's two gorgeous Pokemon, and suddenly the idea of Psychic muffins soured.

 "Maybe there are other ways to attract them," he said, distancing himself from the thought of Slowbro and Slowking walking around without tails. Well, Slowking at least. Without a tail, evolution into Slowbro would be impossible. "What else has Psychic power?"

"What are ya on the lookout for?" Zac asked, as they crept forward through the autumnal foliage. He shuffled his feet as they walked, pushing the dry leaves aside so they didn't crunch and crackle underfoot. 

Ahead of them, Yucca prowled, keeping a golden eye out for any Unown. Black, glossy skin, and blinding white sclera. You couldn't miss them.

"Yeah I've got plenty of games!" Zac said, thinking about the ancient TV and game console he had. "Some classics from my childhood. Bring whatever you've got though mate, there's room enough for everyone and everything!"

"Oh I'm sure Skyler will bring a veritable ocean of drinks. Enough to float the factory like a ship." Zac didn't mention the Outrageous Favor that he owed . It played on his mind sometimes. Just what was she planning?

He laughed at the idea of the factory being haunted, before remembering the strange noises that he sometimes heard in the dark hours before dawn. "I bought it up when the factory was under federal investigation. After that poisoning thing. I moved production closer to the city though, so it's mostly abandoned because I need a place to stay. Not sure about ghosts..." Would they need to do some ghostbusting?

"No harm in hanging up a few charms and checking in the corners, ay?"

Eva's kind words were a balm for Zac's frayed nerves. As the lava drains away back into the volcano, he let out a breath of boiling air and turned to the team.

"We bloody did it!" he shouted, grabbing everyone in a rough hug. "Blade you were fantastic! Without that shield we'd have been knee deep in red hot trouble," Zac said, grinning at them.

He looked down the mountain, where the remaining magma was cooling into a thin, black crust. With the body of the liquid draining back into the mountain the inhabitants of the island were safe.   

We did it!

"No need for planning with this one, it's just a little get together," Zac reassured Kaz. "Just the usual bunch, the fugger-in-law, and my fugger from another mother." was as close to a little brother as Zac was ever going to have. 

"I'm holding it at my new place! The factory! Just some games, food, messin' around. There's lots of space there, and a big outdoor part if the games get too rough. I appreciate the offer of help though. Did you have anything in mind?"

"That's a good point! Yeah I bet they never had that rock typing originally." Zac nodded, thinking about the possibilities. "If you can resurrect dead Pokemon in different ways, or inside different materials, do you reckon you could give them new types?" The possibility was wild! 

"If you're happy, then you're already where you want to be. Great work, close friends," he wrapped an arm around Giselle and gave her a friendly 'Slateport shuffle', "and of course amazing adventures. Hell, the only thing missing is-"

*Pop*

"-UNOWN!" Zac shouted, pointing a thick finger at the black letter that floated right in front of them. It had appeared with the smallest of flashes, as if sliding between dimensions. It's glossy, rubbery skin was a tar pit for the eyes, drawing Zac in.

He couldn't look away, and groping blindly in his bag for some balls he  lunged at the Unown. The little letter bobbed in the air, and made no attempt to flee as Zac clapped it between two Pokeballs and fell flat on his face. 

Zac rolled over, eyes wide and beard full of dust. He grabbed the ball, watching as the little red light blinked, and finally dulled. 

"We got one!" he crowed.

"That sounds like a blast!" Zac said, quickly cheering up as the idea took shape. He loves the sea, the sun, the wide open spaces, and the dangerous lifestyle sport of Wailord Battle Royale.

Being on a boat would mean comfy clothes, too. Tuxes bloody sucked for Zac. Way too small and expensive. They were perfect for Kibou, but Zac would rather show up in a shirt or even pyjamas any day of the week.  

"I know a perfect desert island too!" he chimed in. "It's got a ton of angry, wild Exeggutor, and it's even surrounded by a razor reef!"

Zac showed Drowzee the pictures of the Unown. The creatures sniffed the photo, looking uncertain. "What do you think? Can you find it?" Zac asked. 

Drowzee waved its trunk noncommittally. "Come on mate. A big old sniffer like that? I'm sure you can do it." It eyed Zac's bag, clearly tempted by the wonders that may lurk inside. With a huff of certainty, it trundled off down the path, with Zac running after it.

Something snuffled in the bushes. Something was bright yellow, beady eyed, and had no interest in Zac's Psychic muffins. 

The Drowzee sniffed at Kev, cocked its head, and then stumbled off to root through Zac's bag. "Hey! Get outta there!" Zac shouted, grabbing the bag. Drowzee frowned. "There isn't even anything worth eating, mate. I can guarantee." The Drowzee looked unconvinced. "You know what? Lead us to an Unown and you can have anything in the bag. Deal?"

"I'm great at observing," Zac said, eyes open and attentive as he watched every movement of Balder's strange routine. It was strong, yet fluid. It reminded him of a rushing, curving river, or the coursing slither of Kev, his Steelix. No. Something stronger. There was immense strength in the movements, but they were also striking. Almost snapping into certain poses before Balder moved on an instant later.

The movements chained together, and Balder finished with a powerful pose, arms spread wide. The moonlight gleamed off his muscles. Perhaps it was sweat from the intense routine. 

Despite the sight of the toned Alolan man posing shirtless on the beach, Zac didn't feel anything. "Uh, what should I be feeling?" he asked.

HANDYMAN HUSTLE II ☆ WEDDING WISH!

Dr Evalexei headed off to work on the playlist, and Zam made his way back into the house. His friends were gathered around the table, tucking into the assembled dishes. The whole room was full of spicy and savory steam, and Zac loaded up a paper plate with food. Halfway through, he had a worrying thought. Is a vegetarian? 

Zam put back the pork buns, hoping nobody noticed, and instead grabbed tofu pouches, a bread roll, and some of his own strawberry rhubarb pie. 

He noticed Mickey ( ) chomping away at some fried chicken beside him. "Hey Mickey! It's me, Zac!" Something about the man's demeanor was different. Instead of the calm, academic gaze Zac was used to, he was multi-killing the fried chicken with the efficiency of a trained gamer. "Uh, is it still Mickey in there?"
