It was BARNABY FINCH's second time here, in this sacred place. [break][break]

Instead of his beloved Isobel, the AMPHAROS, by his side, this time a curious metal creature joined him. It was a stowaway from his time at that odd island with the buried ruins beneath it. [break][break]

Though the MELTAN was small, Barnaby figured there must be some hidden power within it to have survived below ground for as long as it did — in a place with a REGICE, no less. In fact, noticing the REGI EFFIGY in the cool waters below the shrine, the admin was reaffirmed in his choice of Pokémon.[break][break]

Both he and the Meltan (after a little coaxing) bowed beneath the eaves of the Draconid shrine before ringing the new year's bell.

As many do, BARNABY FINCH enters the open stretch of battlefield astride his behemoth of a STEELIX — though even so large a Pokémon was dwarfed by the likes of KYUREM. [break][break]

He takes stock of the situation first, using seconds of critical time to note the people and the Pokémon who'd joined the fray. And though he recognizes many ROCKETs and even several notable LEAGUE members, it was the creature latching onto KYUREM that catches his attention.[break][break]

"Is the Hoopa controlling it?" Admin Bee suggests over comms before whistling for his STEELIX to shoot a FLASH CANNON at the dragon's chest — where the UNBOUND HOOPA's hands hovered possessively. [break][break][break]

Though he was outwardly courteous in defeat, inwardly BARNABY FINCH made a mental note to take from Steven Campbell what he'd lost in the form of semi-meaningless menial work. The grunt had many long hours in the office ahead of him.[break][break]

"I say let's keep going! We need to recoup some of these losses, no?"[break][break]

And so the group would continue for a time before splintering off to enjoy other parts of the party.[break][break]

Barnaby would make sure to eventually connect with oscar clayton sometime later that evening to express thanks for his gift. Barnaby wasn't exactly convinced of the gold-plated Poké Ball's practical usage, but he figured he could display it in his office nonetheless.

The Pokémon encased in Never-Melt Ice loomed heavy over the two ROCKETs as they traversed the Silent Icelands. mint frost paused at one such monolith, but it was a fleeting moment of short-lived reunion. BARNABY FINCH figured the AGGRON must be tied to the Beast in some way, but didn't press for information.[break][break]

"I wonder more and more how reliable the notion of similarity is," The admin mused as they pushed forward. "Though the birds look similar to their counterparts, there's been little evidence to show they favor the same areas here in Hoenn."[break][break]

Privately, Barnaby wondered if natural logic even applied to manifestations conjured by something like THE VIOLET BOOK. [break][break]

"But of course, there's no harm in being sure. And Hugo here may be of help finding these feathers,"[break][break]

Barnaby's SHADOW NINETALES, Hugo, had a remarkable nose and keen eyesight. His body also ran naturally hot, helping to melt some of the snow ahead of Barnaby and thus create an easier-to-follow path.
