"Mighty kin' of 'em to do as we say." Said Doug dryly as he stared at the swarm of Magcargo run down the path made by the Rangers.

He hadn't thought he would be back to the Meteor Falls so soon after his deathly encounter with rock and magma during the adventours, but the call to action was one he rarely ignored.

Whenever there was a swarm, something always got screwed up, and he was here for it.

He was ready for whatever it was, even if it turned out to be the Falls finally kicking the bucket and erupting with all that magma they kept inside.

That aside...

"They ain't bug types." He said in a mutter, hugging his legs as his brows furrowed. "They ain't in the bug egg group, either."

Still, several respectable figures in the Entomology community had argued these pokemon, amongst many others, could also be considered an extension of 'bugs'.

Doug nibbled at his lower lip as he squinted at them. It was hard to tell without examining them, their habits and their anatomy from up-close.

He blinked as a single Slugma broke away from the crowd, leaving the path- much to nearby rangers chagrin.

"... It's okay!" He said, calling out to the Rangers that were getting into motion, throwing out a netball with his sole water type on it. "I'll deal with it."

One way or another.

It was purely by chance that Angelo stumbled upon the swarm, having been cycling through the falls on a self-indulgent detour from point A to point B on his delivery route. Stopping near the barricade, he takes a moment to watch the Magcargo trickle out into the open, crawling over the rocks like a vein of lava had spilled from a hidden volcano; slow and radiating intense heat.

Lysithea his Emolga, who had been floating along beside him during their cycle ride, swooped down to perch on his shoulder. Angelo thought that the spunky little squirrel was watching the migration but as he blindly reaches over his shoulder to give her a pat between the ears, he instead finds a tail – Lysithea having burrowed her face into his backpack.

“Oi, Lysithea!” He warns, a little too late, as the Emolga rummages for treats only to accidently knock a pokeball out of his bag. “You pesky litt- Shit.” Fingers snatch out to try and grab the capsule but it slips through his fingers, bouncing down the rocky outlet towards the trail of fire pokemon… Angelo groans.

Ever wondered what the surface of the sun felt like? Well the next best thing was probably these rocky snails very slowly migrating across meteor falls. The heat was staggering, imagine a thousand wild saunas coming to life and dragging their lava covered asses across the region. It was dreadful to be around, and yet here was Oscar any way trying to catch one of these fuckers.

Oscar approached the scene in a temperature controlled hazmat suit, chuckling to himself about how he originally thought it to be a poor investment. The slinking Magcargo had no idea what was about to fall upon them, and Oscar did not leave them in suspense for long. Oscar opened a Beast Ball, releasing his Xurkitree Navitas.

The electric alien towered before the fiery vagabonds, and began raining Thunderbolts upon their slow forms. Lightning struck their magma bodies with immense force. Most were able to wiggle to safety, but one got struck hard enough to be paralyzed. Oscar saw his opportunity, and threw a well aimed ball at its shell.

As much as Lex didn't want to be out and about around all these people, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. The trainer had three wonderful pokemon but was lacking a fire-type which left a gap in her armor. Now, more than ever, she needed protection. Slugma or Macargo wasn't her first choice but she couldn't afford to be picky just incase her life continued to blow up like an active volcano.

Lex pulled the generic, purple hat down further, shading her distinctive eyes. She tried to stay far away from the crowds but none of the pokemon were veering from their designated path. Lex bit her lip, unsure of how to proceed. Did she need to get right up there in the action? The cool mist of Smoke's body brushed against her arm. The Gastly wore his permanent, mischievous grin."Actually, I've got an idea," Lex grinned walking towards a sharp turn in the Volcano pokemon's path, "Hey, Smoke. Use Confuse Ray on that one over there. Let's see if it'll come off the path and we can catch it!" The Gastly nodded, floating closer to the unsuspecting pokemon. A brilliant aura of light danced from around the Gastly to surround the pokemon before him. Lex grabbed an empty pokeball from her pocket and readied herself to attempt the catch

The sight of all of those weird magma Pokémon reminded her of the various volcanic peaks back in Alola.

There was even a particular ‘fable’ going around about how one of the most active volcanic peaks had some sort of guardian deity that was pissy enough to require cigarettes and alcohol as a periodic sacrifice to keep the volcano from losing its fucking shit.

“That is so messed up,” Andrea muttered, grumbling. Her daily training grounds were now desecrated with all manner of literally ‘living lava’ Pokémon. “Come on, hurry up and get moving!” she groaned, crossing her arms over her chest and waiting for the slowpokes to clear the hell out so she could go climb the mountain in peace!

…then again, she had an afterthought and threw a vacant Pokéball at the horde, who knew if she was going to get lucky.

It had been a while since he had intervened in one of these swarms. The frequency of their appearance... It was almost as if something or someone was planning them. But with all their varying habitat, that seemed quite unlikely. Still... The fact that it was unnatural remained. Enough to make people question the circumstances.[break][break]

But there was something more important to handle right now: The Magcargos coming out. Balder decided to go all out, calling out his Camerupt on the field. Whilst Vulcan was fire type, the fact it was also ground type served as a good typing to handle the solar snails. Thus, the Walking Volcano stomped upon the field... Seconds before Balder triggered his mega evolution.[break][break]

Upon Mega Evolving, the Camerupt used Eruption right away to attract the snails attention. Once they had started to close in (Which took a while due to their speed), the camel began to slam the ground, triggering an Earthquake, like one would feel when a volcano is about to erupt.[break]

Margcargo and Slugma started getting uppity from all the trainers surrounding their molten path. Sluggishly making their way, they were easy fodder for even the trainer with the weakest throw.

Adrian watched as everything in the path of the 'snail trails' was scorched and molten. As they flowed across the countryside, they looked as flowing magma, and incidentally just as slow...

Adrian wasn't going to risk getting close; priming a pokeball, he'd chuck it at the swarm blindly.

he didn't know that the falls had a freaking volcano underneath it, how else would he describe the sight of these macargo flowing out of the volcano like mt pompeii and crawl all over the falls. already some of the wild pokemon were running around trying to get to safety and out of the way of the incoming threats. guess that meant it was a job for pokkenger and his trusy urshifu who was already hard at work cracking the shells of these lava slugs with the skin of his knuckles burning off with each punch. still the hero couldn't just stand back and watch and took out an empty pokeball to throw at one of them that managed to slip by his partner. it needed to sit down and cool off.

Due to her recent outing with fern, she realized what really damned her was the fact that she was so outnumbered during that gruesome battle. So when she heard that a marcago swarm was taking placed she acted on it as quickly as possible, and by as quickly as possible she had to get a ride there from one of Silph co's private drivers since none of her Pokémon were actually big enough for her to ride. After some time had passed the driver opened the door for her and she jumped off the seat into the land. She saw a bunch of trainers watching the marcago swarm and she was also enraptured by it. The burning smoke however filled her nostril making it hard to breath, she always feared fire after the attack on slate port with blacephalon which made her hesitant to even be in the area. However she knew if she never had a proper answer for ice type pokemon...well lets just say she'd be more fearful of Fern's trips to field work, the last one was somewhat brutal on her mental health.
Yui waited until one of the creatures got very close and then launched a pokeball at it. Her vivillion chilling out by hanging onto her back, ready to momentarily lift her up she had to get away quickly in the event she startled the pokemon and upset it.

Meteor falls had always fascinated her because of it's incredible, crystal clear waterfalls and impossibly large craters in the ground. But what she wasn't expecting was for there to be something akin to an active volanco spewing from the top of the falls. Mixed in with the water, and sizzling as they plummeted into the cavern at the bottom, she could see several piping hot Magcargo pulling themselves out of the water.[break][break]

Some of them were already safe and mingling amongst each other nearby, and she could see several experienced trainers looking to score a new partner for their travels, but Avery was more than happy to just sit back and relax. If one chose to come to her, she'd be happy to definitely not pet it given how unbelievably hot they were. [break][break]

Hoenn is once again abound with danger, but rather some alien force from some different dimension, it’s now nature running its course. With the swarm of Magcargo suddenly emerging from the magmatic depths of Mt. Chimney, the Pokken Rider emerges once again to fend off the sudden attack.

Holding out a hand, the masked vigilante emits a pulse of electricity from his suit, shocking them with a powerful THUNDER WAVE.

As they begin slowing down, the masked hero pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it into the swarm.

If someone were to ask him, Razz would say he liked his job. He liked helping pokemon and he liked helping people, even as annoying as they could be. The job gave him purpose, helped him feel like he was doing something to make up for the shit he's done.

Though there will always be days like this that made him regret not staying a hermit. Originally he wasn’t going to be on this job, but they were short handed and ignored his problems with fire pokemon so now he was stuck helping these bastards migrate.

One of them started going off course, though rather than go himself he would just have Royal do it. He did bring the water type for a reason after all, though he didn’t notice the pokeball the frogadier took with him to try and catch it to put it back in place.

does he need a magcargo? probably not. does he want one? yes.

the fire-type is apparently overpowered according to the pokedex. he knows of people who follow everything written on the electronic dictionary by heart, regardless of how erroneous it factually sounded. magcargo is their weakness and kyle might need one in case he faces one of them in the future.

if it fails, then it's fine. he can't think of any other scenario when a magcargo could be useful over his other options anyways.

kyle throws a pokeball at one of them, being a free shot during their migration when they passed by him during a check after adventours. being near one feels like being somewhere near a volcano, so he supposed he can't blame the writers of its pokedex entry.

solrock seemed to be acutely aware of her questions about the lunatone they'd discovered in what was left of the cratered falls. instead of levitating vigilantly behind her, that evening, it floated right at her side, its red eyes meeting hers occasionally in a sort of communicative way. alas, there was a break there. no translation.

as the two were occupied with one another, they hardly noticed the steam floating up ahead of them, or the massive crowd of snails doing their damnedest to cross the terrain under the protection of rangers, some of whom were surely at the end of their wealth of patience.

the two looked for a way around, and headed in that direction. lulu tossed a pokeball at a nearby migrator, attempting to be discrete, unaware of any policies or lack thereof on capture.

Meteor Falls lacks the luster of yesteryear. Now it remains as nothing more than a blight that reminds Fernando of the Three Day War. What should’ve been another opportunity to be heralded as a hero ends up as nothing more than a conveyer belt for further developments for Project Avalon.
