Another day, another Poké Job. Barnaby had seen this particular listing while scrolling through his phone one evening, lounging around after work. Something about locating lost satchels that had been dropped. At the time he'd wondered how many imbeciles were losing their shit that it warranted the Pokémon Rangers getting involved, but decided to help out anyway.

It was a simple enough task that seemed fairly innocuous, so Barnaby chose to send his newly acquired SNEASEL as his representative Pokémon. She was quick, she was agile, but most importantly she was acutely observant, with a Keen Eye that rivaled his own.

There was also the added benefit of her enlarged claws. When she arrived at the overgrown field on Route 119, she demonstrated just how effective these could be by slashing and hacking at the grasses, making the area easier to search.

His lips thinning as he notes the clouds overhead, Tianyu takes an umbrella from his bodyguard as he exits his car; shaded comfortably beneath its scarlet canopy, myriad little Dustox charms hang from the umbrella's rib-tips. Stepping carefully to avoid any untoward puddles along the Route, the man pulls out a pokeball from his hanfu and elegantly tips out the Pokémon within. The flash of light reveals a red yakuta-clad Meowth, on loan curtesy of P.O.G. Bank.

An indulgent smile spared for the feline, Tianyu directs in a rich baritone, "We are looking for a satchel, if you please." Dosh the Meowth gives a sharp nod, the Pokémon hopping back and forth playfully on his hind feet before darting off into the thick grass of Route 119.

A rumble of thunder momentarily draws Tianyu's attention heavensward, though his heavy gaze soon settles instead upon the figure of Martín del Mar in the distance. Allowing the man a subtle nod of acknowledgement, he then returns his attention to following Dosh's tail bobbing merrily above the weeds.

the rain was proving to be more of a nuisance than the lycanroc expected it to be. the fluff covering its body sags heavily as moisture drenches it down. wet dog smell is bound to happen.

arms covers its head as it runs around in an attempt to look for missing satchels. relying on sight rather than smell was more intuitive even for a pokemon reliant on other senses given that the rain probably washed away any other signs of it.

its keen eye easily spots them among the foliage with its colors unable to blend with nature's green. the pokemon walks over and carries it to wherever it's needed.

the little zigzagoon skitters along wet grass and soil, no doubt getting its paws dirty, but this is what's expected of it on this particular task.

nose to the ground, it sniffs and sniffs and sniffs, though it isn't until the hour passes that it realizes its strengths lie elsewhere. looking around, zigzagoon utilizes its PICK UP to finally find the missing satchel.

a job well done, zigzagoon!

The frequent rainfall and otherwise unwelcoming elements do little to dissuade the furry critter from its search. But the aroma of berries and honey slathered on nearby trees, on the other hand...[break][break]

They distract it from the purpose of the visit, in a manner of speaking. But why work on an empty stomach?[break][break]

Luckily, it is not the only one searching, and others are acting more diligently. While it's away licking at sweetened tree bark, others are finding some of the lost satchels. Teddiursa indulges itself this momentary freedom, only to remember the task after it has filled its belly.[break][break]

The stench of aged, wet leather strikes it as it wanders around the forest's edge. It follows its nose, eventually coming across a dated satchel bag that could've belonged to anyone. Once it could PICK UP the bag, it began dragging the satchel along, forcing the tall grass apart where it passed. Eventually it finds a Ranger, leaving it under their care before dozing off against a tree.

What was it with people losing their things lately?

There was a call for extra pairs of eyes that could search through the gloom and fog that permeated route 119.

Just outside Fortree, apparently—and so there was a Pidgeot that joined the search party, her Keen Eyes would help with the search parties looking for fallen belongings…

Satchels?

What was going on?

Either way, the Pidgeot spotted an abandoned satchel way up in a tree (how did it get there? Best not to ask) and grabbed it with her claws before returning to where the temporary ‘base camp’ was set up, and dropping off the missing satchel.

Back out she went once more, to continue searching, her Keen Eyes coming in so much handy.

[break][break] the sable-eye could hardly hold back his glee as he skittered across the landscape, his jeweled-eyes gleaming with eagerness. he could always count on his master to feed the blood in his veins, to pump him full of excitement no matter the circumstance.

[break][break] well - perhaps, this was not what jayden intended. he vaguely remembered the boy instructing him in the ways of community service. and sure, sure, he was going to do that.

[break][break] eventually.

[break][break] his hawk eyes gleaming with the power of keen eye he searched the grass for the missing satchels with ease, slashing away at the grass with shadow claw. eventually, he found one such bag and began digging through it.

[break][break] "hey, what do you think you're doing?"

[break][break] he looks up, to see a human walking towards him. his eyes glow red with the power of confuse ray, which slams into the human and sweeping himself off his feet. oops. the sable-eye slips the satchel over his shoulder. he'll return the item in due time. he just wants to chew on some coins first.
