Sorry I haven’t been around. Things have been somewhat of a mess out here at Fortree. There’s a portal leading to some other reality and I have help from the Fortree Ranger outpost with patrolling and keeping curious people away from it because the local paper said it’s a hazard and.[break][break]

I'm disappointed with the decision, but I understand it. But please, in the future, please let the commissioner know that we don't like being kept in the dark about decisions that greatly impact how we do our jobs. We would appreciate it if you at least consult with your Gym Leaders before implementing such sweeping changes. It will make all of them much more understanding about whatever decision the League comes to.[break][break]

This is why Gym Leaders are granted the autonomy to conduct their challenges as they see fit. The League trusts your ability to award badges within the scope of your judgement. That has not changed in the slightest.

I will mention though that this has nothing to do with the commissioner. I sent the proposed changes to the gym system to her and it was approved with Dahlia's trust in my judgment. [break][break]

I personally share the same view with the League.[break][break]

As FERNANDO SILPH has pointed out, how you choose to grant a trainer a badge is still within your scope. However, it is the trainer's decision to partake in whichever type of battle they wish against you.[break][break]

Andrea Vaneau: It is reasonable for someone who decides to take on the Champion Assessment to be required to have a certain level of battling ability. I don't think it's extreme or draconian to expect that of our trainers. I also don't equate gym challenges that prepare trainers to defend themselves from threats to be 'preparing them for war'. This is a fundamental requirement in almost all regions. Hoenn by comparison was entirely too lax.[break][break]

The issues that some seem to have does not lie in the fact that these changes happened, but that the Gym Leaders weren’t consulted on the matter. I mean, the direction taken is understandable. Hoenn has become a pretty dangerous place, so equipping those trainers who participate in the Gym Circuit properly both physically and mentally has become even more important than before.

I should probably explain why I've been MIA in this chat for so long. FERNANDO SILPH took care of me and got me back into my Gym sooner than expected and forgot to re-invite me after my suspension. It's been a rough few months. I don't get what it is with Mauville Gym specifically, but so many bad actors seem to just hate my guts in particular. While I was barred from my Gym... well, just read the article I linked if you can. It's not long.[break][break]

This was after all the security updates from the last attack, too. Still haven't figured out who's behind that; apparently it turned into a cold case. Pardon my Kalosian, but fuck dorian westcliff . He needs to be behind bars. I'm unharmed, but I've had to deal with a real mess in the aftermath. No wonder we have some of the worst Gym Leader retention in the world.[break][break]

I don't really want one at Mauville Racing Grounds, but what choice do I have? It's already there. I haven't been able to mess around with it much since I've been stuck in Dewford Hospital for so long, but I am opposed to the use of Dynamax for health reasons of the Pokémon that use the power.[break][break]

One thing from me: Fortree already has a rift to another reality to contend with; it’s right in the middle of smack downtown if any of you haven’t come by to see where it exactly is. Too conspicuous a spot to readily ignore.[break][break]

Putting that together with… a ‘power spot’, if that’s what it’s called, would… for one thing. I run a Sanctuary alongside my Gym, so wouldn’t the presence of so much unknown energy cause general upset to the wildlife that come through here on their yearly migration routes?[break][break]

(Also, if this ‘power spot’ gets in contact with whatever nasties lurk in Ultra Space should they decide to come out of the rift in downtown Fortree and cause havoc, wouldn’t that… wouldn’t that literally spell a kaiju situation on our hands? Just me thinking out loud here)[break][break]

I’m speaking as a conservationist here, I know how finicky these birds can get—lam logan, you’re as much of a bird enjoyer as I am, you know how capricious they can be when their routines and habitats are disturbed.[break][break]

P.S. I’m fine with Fortree and Lilycove sharing a spot, but one right at the backyard where the Sanctuary is? Please think of the environmental consequences that the disruption of energies would cause! (also the potential kaiju situation if the rift to Ultra Space reacts adversely or sth to the ‘power spot’)[break][break]

Plus we have no idea how adversely it would affect Pokémon that come too close for their own good…[break][break]
