Mans could not surf. Callan rode on the Mantine with the grace of a Spinda. A very good looking Spinda, but it didn't stop him from wobbling everywhere as he struggled to balance himself on top of the oversized flying fish.

One would have to wonder how a blind kid suddenly became a near-expert at Mantine-surfing, when he lacked the Pokemon and almost completely lacked the ability to swim if he screwed up. Yet there he was, riding it as if he were a complete natural.

But was it actually Hideo on that Mantine, attempting a Lanturn 360? A good question, and likely one that wouldn't get an answer anytime soon.

Not unless one looked over at the ice-cream stand and spotted the actual Hideo in a moderately-incognito hood-over-head disguise, accompanied by a fashionably-bespectacled Beheeyem.

The good thing was that she wasn’t afraid of water, the bad thing was that she knew that Josh Dragomir was probably with the kids somewhere, and was most likely going to screw this up within plain fucking sight of them (and get a laugh out of it).

Cyg was just tipsy enough to try it without being drunk enough to drown. She tied her bathing suit wrap around her waist and waded out into the water, selecting the Mantine that looked the least like it wanted to buck her off.

She would have to remember to reapply sunscreen after this, she thought, as she hoisted herself up on the creature’s back.

Electing to start off small, she attempted a Gorebyss Spiral, which seemed a lot more difficult than it needed to be for the quote-unquote easiest trick out there.

Oh, this again?

Only the last time he’d actually surfed on the back of a Mantine was… a few years back. Right about the time the kaiju-sized Pokémon started appearing and then caused havoc right at the end of the Matine Surf competition.

But alas, this time, there was no competition.

…maybe it was for the better at least.

Good thing was, he could still faintly remember which trick was which. After exactly one run through, he then grabbed a Mantine and went off, determined to redeem his fucking ass with his first trick:

The Primarina Twist.

He was absolutely fucking certain some of the previous competitors of the Mantine Surf event that happened a few years ago were going to go for the Magikarp Splash… and he was right on the money, hah.

Elinor took the reigns of the Mantine. She was rearing to go, though she had to admit she had never done anything like this before. But she wasn’t about to shy away from a challenge. Besides, her flock was watching. The people of Hoenn should not be shown cowardice by their council.

Quickly they surfed the waves, one, two. The next one would be big and that would be the one where they would perform the stunt.
