How hilariously ironic.

He already had a Magikarp of his own, but the Gyarados he hooked wasn’t as… feisty… as the one he’d caught in the Safari Zone.

Anyway, once he’d shooed the Gyarados away, he threw the line back out into the water and began the waiting game anew.

He didn’t realize that THEO BECKETT was one for waiting the day away, for one singular nibble…

Hideo was quick to recognize this one as a Barraskewda - he had one of his own to compare. Though this one was definitely smaller than his own.

But what size would the next one be? Seemed he was only finding really big ones, or really small ones.

The red-haired smith sighed, shrugged, and returned the fish to the ocean. There would be other fish Pokemon, and hopefully soon. Surely, one of them would be equally memorable, but in a more positive way than her last catch.

Okay, that didn’t make it as bad as the Palpa-toad from Hell.

At least he hadn’t seen hide nor hair of a Seismitoad so far in the water.

(Thank fuck for that.)

Once he’d freed the Whiscash from the line, he swapped out the feather lure for another lure before chucking the line back into the water, where it sank beneath the surface with just the barest amount of noise.
