He had to keep his panic in check, he had to keep his panic in check… come on, come on, come on…

Where are you?! he all but internally screamed in his head, cycling through pretty much the entire spectrum of emotions all at once as he hovered above the battlefield; before… uh-oh.

Uh to the fucking oh, what were those… huh? Why did the new ‘challengers’ on the field look like…

They looked like some perverse versions of the Swords of Justice that he knew existed.

One of them, in particular, looked like the one that was traveling with MATIAS SILPH, the one he met while at the hot springs and gave him a leaf… (said leaf was pressed between the pages of his own collection of handwritten tales, in case one was curious) and.

“What the absolute fuck.”

The Charizard came to a stop in mid-air, before suddenly bellowing a challenge at all the danged things that were literally… okay. Okay… this was going to be a little too much… but then…

“Ravana, bring me down.”

Much as he was loathe to land, he knew he had a better shot of actually—trying to hit the robotic, twisted versions of the Swords when he had that Pokémon out, and so once he’d been set down on the ground (despite his best judgment) he recalled the Charizard, and quietly slipped out a Cherish Ball before popping it to full size and summoning what was inside…

“Help,” was all he would say quietly in the Wandering Stormbringer’s direction; before the cranky deduskha took exactly one look at the mess going on and sighed his way, before huffing and crossing his arms.

“Y-yeah, I know… it’s an absolute madhouse… but we need your help!”

It was like the Stormbringer’s face said, ‘say no more’ and then whipped the cloud-tail around, before dropping a Bleakwind Storm at a bunch of incoming… Virizion-adjacent things that were headed his way!

(They were green, but metallic! What else was there?!)

he slides off from the charizard, kicking himself to land on the terrakion conveniently running parallel to them.

kyle wonders the special occasion that brings virizion out of the woodwork to help out. keldeo's presence? doppelgangers? another sword of justice doing work? or did they finally make up.

the last conclusion, though unlikely, would've been cute.

"what's different this time?" he asks matias, half-teasing and half-curious.

there's no time to take it to a full-blown conversation, however, as enemies kept blocking their path to where keldeo was. terrakion's steps start getting heavier as stone edge juts from the earth to push their adversaries with spikes.

As the Charizard lumbered upward, they managed to gain a little altitude over the still-raging battlefield, the wind whistling around them and whipping up shards of ice and snow at their faces. Instinctively, Aurelie reached back to grab the girl's hand to help her keep her seat.

When her hand encountered nothing but air, the redhead felt a surge of shock and panic. Aurelie looked behind her just in time to cry out in horror when the girl's Ralts suddenly and unceremoniously pushed her right off the Charizard. What in Arceus' name? she thought, desperately trying to grab for the girl and failing completely to stop her fall.

Damn it, damn it, damn it! she thought, urging her Charizard back downward toward the ground in pursuit of the small, tumbling figure. After the girl had saved her from plummeting into the chasm, Aurelie couldn't even slow her descent? She'd never felt more guilt-stricken or utterly useless in her life.

On her own, more controlled descent, though, Aurelie had to dodge FUSION FLARES from the Kyurem, lasers everywhere, rings from the Hoopa, and streams of flame from the Keldeo that had unexpectedly appeared to help out the army of trainers. It was hard to believe, but the battlefield was even more chaotic now than ever. She'd thought other battles were overwhelming, but this one eclipsed the rest.

Even as she looked frantically for Eris—or just her body, if the fall had been too much for her—Aurelie gasped as the Tera crystals filled everything with a blinding light and countless new Paradox Pokemon materialized into existence. They attacked the trainers in an aggressive wave, and before she could even react, her Charizard unleashed a FLAMETHROWER against the nearest Iron Leaves.

"Thank you, Lucien," Aurelie sighed, patting its neck gratefully. "We're going to need a lot more of that, though. Let's help take these out, so we can clear off the battlefield and keep anyone else from being..."

Slain? Injured? Dropped into a rift? Knocked randomly off Pokemon in mid-flight with no warning? She didn't even know anymore what was or wasn't possible. She just had to keep holding on and fighting—and surviving as best she could.

Between the two of them, they had amassed a little flock of stray pokemon - all shivering with the cold, though not quite frozen solid yet. More frightened (and no doubt confused,) pokemon, both wild and trained, spill out across the snowy expanse from the melting efforts of keldeo's retaliation to the attacking duo.[break][break]

The shields their pokemon had erected were beginning to wane, but seemed to be holding for a little longer. And Lam looked over at Rook as his decidueye deposited an alolan vulpix by his ankles. "We should probably try to get to some of those frozen ones, and maybe move-" Set up another barrier, keep from staying rooted in the same spot.[break][break]

His train of speech died on his tongue though, eyes screwed shut as the unbound hoopa blasted a cluster of crystals to produce that blinding flash of light. Eyes screwed shut and arm lifting to shield his face, Lam's other hand reached for Rook's, but failed to find it in his temporarily blinded fumbling.[break][break]

"What was..that..?" he muttered as the light died as quickly as it had burst through the storm. Brightness remained at the corners of his vision as he squinted to find his partner. Around them, strange paradox pokemon began to charge the field, metallic and imposing. The green one looked a bit familiar - like the pokemon he thought he'd seen with MATIAS SILPH before. Ages ago.[break][break]

His nose wrinkled, "What next? UFOs?" he complained lightly, looking over his shoulder as more waves of the paradox pokemon flooded the area.[break][break]

"Artie, hold 'em off." He turned with the large owl, watching on as a tangle of vines and leaves erupted through cracking, frozen ground. The FRENZY PLANT crawled across the ice and lashed out at an oncoming IRON LEAVES. The foliage kept their backs cleared, and he huffed out a sigh of relief. "Close one, huh?"[break][break]

But he didn't notice the IRON CROWN sweeping in from his blind spot where Ikarus Rook would be able to notice. The build of a charged HYPER BEAM building at its snout.

What extraordinary might for one so tiny!

It was a pity things were so hectic, or he would have taken some notes! But speaking of hectic...

He ducked as a dangerous swipe was taken at him by a machine effigy of his favorite subject— the swords of justice. His advance towards the Djinn had been stopped short.

Galatine still trembled in his grip, overflowing with Z-energy still.

Clicking his tongue, Gwyar held her in front of himself and towards his mechanical opponent, noting the increasing number of automatons beginning to filter into the battlefield.

Things were escalating...!

The hum of Sandy's wings turns grating, reflecting off the Terastal Cavern's walls and creating a deafening, perpetuating echo that forces Shalin to put her earplugs in. Powerful vibration thrumming through her made every hair on her body stand on end, the intensity spiking as the dragon zipped out of the way of a leaping IRON LEAVES.

As the bottom of the cavern raced toward the two, the girl pulled up on the dragon's reins sharply, the G-force feeling like it was going to flatten her. Somewhat woozy, she turned her head toward the shouting man that had crash-loanded with his Armarouge. "You okay?!" the Rustboro Captain shouted, removing her earplugs so she could hear his response. There would be very little time to chitchat; several more Iron Leaves were coming for them with impressive agility.

The sky lit and heat bloomed across the battlefield. A flash, an explosion, people screaming. It was too familiar. Eko grasped at the snow and flung it back until she could see something squirming back to life. It screeched, angry at her, angry at its snow prison, angry at everything. Still, she dug. Focused solely on the pattern of her movements: grab, pull.

Flowers had spotted her and veered away from the heat of the fighting but had not been far enough to avoid getting scorched by the wave of the fusion flare. the pieces of the prophecy echo in kyle's head, but it's difficult to think of its significance when there is no actual use for that knowledge at the moment, especially when they're often helpless to prevent the future anyways.

the ride with terrakion is enough to clear his head and make him remember of actual things he can still do in the midst of the fight. they weren't big things, but enough to be considered a quality of life improvement for kyle's own campaign.

as they near the kyurem to assist keldeo, kyle jumps off of terrakion's back. it takes one glance at the trainer, before then taking the nod from kyle as a signal to continue moving forward without him.

he needs to do one thing first if he was to make use of every option he has.

"i'll catch up!" he shouts to MATIAS SILPH . "i just need to do this unimportant thing!"

the smeargle temporarily takes place as his guardian, activating his sygna suit once more. it already has the blessing of geomancy within it from pseudo-avatarship, and he might as well transfer it out to make use of it.

he takes one more move from the smeargle, this time, baton pass. he forms his hand to a finger gun and aims it at the terrakion from a distance, passing the heightened boosts to the sword of justice.

his smeargle, on the other hand, doesn't have any other instruction. it was there to linger around and observe, though the new pokemon surrounding them brings the same curiosity that the trainer has in him. it sees an unknown, green pokemon firing off a move that looks cooler than normal. it takes out its tail and sketches it while his trainer was busy with something else.

it gets interrupted as kyle carries him on the way back to where his pokemon was fighting, kept out of the ball to activate the sygna suit's effects until he's certain baton pass was effective. the smeargle takes the time to continue its idle actions in the arms of kyle.

the snow beneath his feet was cold and thick. for once, he's thankful he went here with a sygna suit. in a pinch, he should still be able to activate his abilities with a simple recall of his pokemon, he thinks.

His Arcanine did do a good job at matching those incoming fists - but the same couldn't be said for the boy sitting atop her, who had to hold on for dear life so he didn't eat a fist or get flung off his mount.

And unfortunately for him, one fist hitting his Arcanine in the right spot was all it took for the boy to lose his grip, sending him tumbling off of her, onto the snow.

Into the crevice.

Ah crap.

A Mystical Power surrounded Hideo, slowing his descent until he was safely on solid ground. "Thanks for the save," Hideo said, the disguised pixie sitting right on his shoulder. "Wonder if she even noticed I got knocked off…"

Reliable as his Arcanine could be, she wasn't as attentive as his other Pokemon. She was probably still trying to fend off those fists.

But he couldn't focus on that much longer: Uxie warned him of the presence of Paradox Pokemon down in here, and he already attracted the attention of one, one that looked a lot like Cobalion? "Hope you aren't as tough as the real one," Hideo said, Uxie hopping off his shoulder to fend it off.

Galatine slid against a glowing edge as Gwyar lunged at the automaton, jaw tense as he felt it repel the blow with bone-jarring force.

Riding atop of an Arcanine is insanity enough, but the consistent meteoric crash of Zagreus' RAGING FURY consistently batting away every Iron Leaves, Iron Boulder, and Iron Crown, while she's atop and feeling the burn is worse. She doesn't care if she suffers burn scars, she has to take as many down as she can.[break][break]

It's like a blazing battering ram, tackling into every Paradox Pokemon possible, slamming left, slamming right, forward. Running at such speeds to keep the heat on. All of that power from the previous Fusion Flare is making light work of it, but it isn't without cost.[break][break]

When she's thinking she's able to get a few more down, seeing others join her within the chasm to fight back. Between Shred , paxton concordas , Shalin Nariya , and soon with it, a big Salamence, Genny can feel a little more hope, seeing even Gunner Graves 's Pokemon are here![break][break]

And then, she's properly smashed in the face by a Hoopa fist, thrown off of Zagreus, and tumbling into the dirt. She can't see properly, but the moment Zagreus sees this, he turns on a dime, the loyal Arcanine blazing through to keep Genny safe. The redhead's spitting blood to the side, forcing herself onto shaky feet.[break][break]

"Keep fending them off! Zag, make space and roar!" Her nose is bleeding, and she can feel one of her eyes beginning to swell. Grabbing at her nose, she forcibly re-aligns it with a sickening crack.[break][break]

"That your best shot?" Zagreus begins to roar, howling into the air, burning with more and more fury, as the IRON BOULDERS continue to push their advance, charging headfirst towards them, stopped at a standstill against the howling dog.[break][break]

A little late to the party.

He ducked low, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck get shaved off as the cyber blade skid just over him.

With Galatine pointed at the machine, he drove the blade into a joint before twisting. It scrapped and struggled to penetrate into its mechanisms, but it needn't break— even tangling was enough!

With a twist, he brought his shoulder crashing into the steel beast before it could punish his transgression, before leaping over it and sprinting away, pulling his sword out with a harsh yank.

Almost immediately, the machine was righting itself and giving chase— but the amount of steel beasts clashing with other trainers around them was not small— the automaton giving him chase crashed into another after a few daring vaults over nearby machinery.

Convenient.
