He'd heard Lavaridge's famous Lava Cookies could cure practically any minor ailment, so it was there that Atreyu traveled to, his journey slow and especially grueling. Exposure to the Toxic Chains hadn't treated him well; to be completely honest, the only thing that was probably propelling him forward at this point was pure stubbornness. Indigo supported him through the majority of the trek, offering mobility support as needed.

As their luck would have it, Lavaridge was struck by a poisoned outbreak, too. "What the hell, man?"

Despite wanting to help, he had a feeling he'd be more of a nuisance than anything else if he tried to enter the fray and fight. He could potentially offer support, though. At first, Trey and his pokemon remained out of sight, slipping through alleys and low-populace areas in order to secure the goods first: Lava Cookies. Trey quickly chomped one down, and strangely enough, he felt a mote better not a few moments after ingesting it. His nausea and fatigue seemed to lessen, anyway. He ducked behind a building and peered around the corner at a man that'd followed him, swaying back and forth. He had bile on his shirt, evidence that the sickness had gotten to him as well. And okay, sure, the Toxic Chain crown on his head was a dead giveaway, too. Not wanting a fight, Trey released his Haunter, Wisp, and instructed her to use Hypnosis. Waves of energy wibbled from her eyes, their target slumping over and onto the ground easily enough.

"Okay, that works. Now what about the chain?"

Wisp cackled. Oh, she had that covered. Without any further ado, the ghost type floated forward and swiped her clawed hand out, effectively slapping the Toxic Chain into oblivion. It dissolved, and aside from being asleep, the man seemed no worse for wear.

"That's certainly one way to do it," Trey said, amused as he tugged his mask over his face. How many more could they work their way through like this? Wisp pointed to footprints beside them, which led away from the building and back toward the wilderness. Sus.

priam tries to talk to one of the infected townies of lavaridge, only to be ignored. instead, they sic their own pokemon at them, which was so rude.

"aw, cute, you guys have matching scarves!"

the espeon blasts them with psychic, knocking them out while getting rid of the chains around their bodies. priam turns to his pokemon as soon as they disappear.

"we should get the same thing."

There just seemed to bo end to the madness that continued to spread through Hoenn. The word that sprang to Michael's mind was plague. There was just no other way he felt he could rationalize the happenings of the past month. Still, he believed that there was no better time to become a Pokemon Ranger. His whole deal was helping humans and Pokemon alike, so he liked to think the phenomenon of the Toxic Chains would help him prove his worth.

Michael had spent a duration of his time assisting in the effort to subdue aggressive Pokemon and help heal the poisoned victims. Lava Cookies, as he learned, were perfect for healing the poison and confusion of those inflicted by the blight. Each Pokemon felled received a cookie as did their Trainers.

Later that day, Michael began writing his findings to send as a report to both the League and the Rangers of Hoenn. Feeling nauseous hindered its completion, but the Ranger Cadet still saw it through. Any and all information gathered could help end the devastation for good.

Lava Cookies sure were delicious. She felt almost bad for munching on the treat while her Claydol was dealing with the hostile TOXIC CHAIN afflicted Pokemon.

They didn’t prove much of an issue though, which Johanna found a bit weird. Maybe it had something to do with their poisoned partners who seemed horrible izzy and even nauseous.

“Clay, remember to be gentle, they are not at fault for what they are doing.” She reminded the PSYCHIC-Type as the Claydol sent another victim flying.

Snorlax carried another civilian to the medic tent. The chansey and doctor got to work, and their collaboration resulted in the thick toxic chain around the woman dissipating. Robin sighed as she typed on her rotom phone. Her league reports were never-ending as she flew all over Hoenn to solve the poison problems.

Her reports were also getting a little sloppy. Her dizziness hadn't dissipated over the last few days of poison patrols. Her details were incomplete and the writing was getting far too succinct. The events were kind of blurring together...

Dragged into an alleyway, the arbok's tail silences the man, allowing Tsubaki to look him over. She jots down a few notes as she inspects the man, keeping in mind the similarities from that time in the swamp. [break][break]

The Council might find this report just as interesting as the last. She inspects the man's pupils. Takes his pulse. Flashes a light in his eyes, making him follow it while her arbok holds him still.[break][break]

"Clear signs of intoxication. And... delusions, is that right?"[break][break]

The snake raises her tail to let the man answer, but as he does, Tsubaki shoves a lava cookie down his throat before he can call for help. [break][break]

"It'll be a little bit before that kicks in. Hang in there."[break][break]

She turns to the little crowd behind her in the alleyway, all watching expectantly. [break][break]

"We may be here a while," she offers them, dashing their hopes of sleeping in their own beds tonight. [break][break]

"Easy, easy!" Beau soothed, attempting to keep a Slugma at bay with his foot while he kept an old woman from tipping over in her dizziness. Nearby, his Gallade approached, emitting a soothing HEAL PULSE that enveloped the woman and caused the toxic chain around her head to crumble.

Heaving a sigh of relief, Beau couldn't help but notice that the Heal Pulse was having a beneficial effect on him, too - calming the upset his stomach seemed to go through any time he got near one of these strange occurrences lately. At least it was a small reprieve before trying to help the next townsperson.

He smelled burning leather, then cursed, snatching his foot away and hopping up and down on his undamaged foot.

It just so happened that he’d stopped by Lavaridge to grab some Lava Cookies to bring back to Fortree when he saw…

“Oh, really?” he would remark, quickly stuffing the bags of cookies he’d already bought into the backpack he had with him before summoning his Gardevoir, Tatiana.

“Yes, I know,” he would sigh as the graceful Pokémon would recoil at the sight of all the poison, “…however we have a job to do, right? Let’s go.”

He would then head over to where people were being treated for dizziness due to the extreme toxicity of the air in the area; while his Gardevoir would use Heal Pulse on a wailing child who didn’t look so hot so they would feel better.

“Shh… I’m here now,” he would continue quietly, reassuring them that help was on the way while the Gardevoir got to work.

Came for the cookies, stayed for the healing! All in a day’s work for someone who was part of the Medical Corps, wouldn’t you say?

Not long after returning to Mauville from Rustboro, getting his Pyroar off to a Pokémon Center for treatment from the TOXIC CHAINS' venom, he logged into RangerNet to file the report. To his dismay, a flood of tickets came in from Lavaridge, citing a localized pandemic of dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. It was a good thing he didn't have any racing challenges on the docket for today! Sighing, he sent an email to SHELLY SPIEL, letting her know that he wouldn't be returning to the Gym today and to reassign all of today's appointments to . He was sure the star Gym trainer would be happy to be handing out Quick Badges in an official capacity for the first time since working there.

Hoenn's newest Champion rode across the desert on Saber, his Manectric, with Mastema flying alongside him. With his Sygna Suit's visor down, he had no need to fear the whirling sands on this windy day. Saber knew the Great Desert well; it was one of Josh's favorite places to go riding in fair weather. It was flat, vast, and more importantly, not well-populated, unlike the more well-trafficked Route 118. "Saber, QUICK ATTACK!" the rider cried, his mount zipping across the desert and closer to Lavaridge Town.

Reaching the volcano town's east gate, it was not as bad as Josh anticipated; had dispatched quite a few Rangers himself to help out, it seemed. Many of them already had the violent Pokémon restrained; it was just a matter of drawing out the physical and mental poisons. With a combination of Saber's HEAL BELL and Mastema's LIFE DEW, the Manectric and Togekiss worked together to nurse the humble abode's elderly population back to good health the best they could. They would still need to seek medical attention for any physical wounds suffered as a result of their dizziness...

"Y'know," June said through a mouthful of lava cookie, "I just don't see the hype in these things. Honestly? Pretty mid."

June kicked her legs and she sat atop the Poke Center roof. She wasn't in any real danger, as she didn't think any of the zombified villagers even noticed her up there. So, she got to finally try out the 'delectable delicacy' of the Hoenn region. First impressions were very unkind. Tasted aggressively okay. Not bad. Very much not good either.

But Buddy seemed to love the things. He'd gone through a whole rack of them, and he was too busy cracking open the next five wrappers to care about what she said. Maybe she wasn't feeding him enough-- but the Passimian could eat an entire store's worth of food if given the time. It couldn't be on her shoulders. Besides, that shit got expensive really fast.

"Here, you want mine?" She held out her half of the cookie to Buddy. He snatched it out of her hands and devoured it in two massive bites. "Passi!"

"Good. Good..." She slumped her shoulders and looked across the village. Was this just the new norm, now? Strange chains all over everywhere? It was getting old. Boring, too.

And sad. Very, very sad.

arriving to assist in settling this matter, petra begins to feel just as unwell as the others. thankfully this wasn't much of a confrontation, meaning she was able to focus on her task without obstruction - much obstruction, anyway. "...i don't feel so good."

standing over the impromptu patients of the day, even miss monroe gradually falls to a knee. her head is swirling around, adding to the nausea building in her gut. "h- h- ...!" yeah, she was going to be sick. no helping it.

the telepathic ralts at her side reads into the situation, and though it can't help petra show any grace as she hurls up half her stomach, it is able to soothe her and the intoxicated individual(s) with it's healing pulse.

wiping her mouth with a spare handkerchief, she looks over to the latest addition to her team. "thanks, ra- ...that's right, i didn't name you yet. hmm." placing the pokemon on her lap, petra offers her appreciation, and affection with some awkward embrace resembling a hug. "we'll have to fix that, won't we?" but before that, it was time to begin making their rounds, as these intoxicated folk weren't going to heal themselves...
