EXPOSITION

A LATIAS HAS BEEN FOUND AFFECTED BY THE TOXIC CHAIN ON ROUTE 119. The Eon Pokemon seems to fighting the infection. In the process, MIST BALLS are loosed haphazardly. They strike several bridges that stretch across the river valley below, putting them at risk of splitting apart.[break][break]

A LATIOS can be seen attempting to console the other. It darts about its sibling like a hummingbird; however, every time it nears, it is buffeted back. Pieces of the TOXIC CHAIN rooted into the LATIAS' BODY fall to the grasses and stream below...[break][break]

As you attempt to rescue the LATIAS or gather intel, you will be buffeted by ceaseless TROPICAL RAINS.[break][break]

Eventually, the LATIAS will be freed by your assistance, and the EON DUO will depart with frightening speeds.

who better than the weather gym leader himself to respond to this hell of a situation? , accompanied by his trusty raboot, make their way out to ROUTE 119, intending to save LATIAS from further pain.

but no matter what he may do, no amount of DROUGHT or SANDSTORM seem to be enough to overpower the TROPICAL RAINS.

"keep pushing! we're almost there!"

they're not almost there. but through the darkening scene, cian's optimism shines through, persisting with hope.

priam looks at the latias from afar, watching it as he gauges the effects of toxic chain on a legendary pokemon.

"so, what do you think, espy?"

the espeon grimaces. there's no joy in its eyes and the enthusiasm that priam is exhibiting isn't reflected by the pokemon.

torrential rain pours down from the sky, after all, drenching everyone that happens to be within the vicinity of the latias. they wouldn't be the only ones around, since he knows a lot will attempt to help the pokemon once the news catch on.

Lutgarde's clothes are soaked, and by that their state is truly terrible. The Tropical Rain has managed to seep into every layer of fabric, making movement incredibly hard. "Starting to think Hoenn's tropical might not be too good," they grimace, looking at Sylv who also doesn't look too happy. The fashionistas worry, but quickly pull that aside. A wish for Sunny Day would need to wait, because there's other more pressing matters!

"Let's help!" (It's a solid few minutes after their arrival; one has to make room to consider poor fashion choices in torrential rain.)

The next thing that happened, well… he could only watch in quiet terror.

While he didn’t know of ’s connection to Latios as much as did, fact of the matter was that there was a Latias firing haphazardly all manner of…

“Whoa!” he yelped as he narrowly avoided the Mist Ball that came close to detonating in his face.

What made this worse was the tropical rain that was pouring all around them—typical from the Hoenn region to just suddenly change weather like it was some crazy—

“Yikes,” he would hiss quietly as the rain hampered visibility. Hopefully he’d be able to get close enough to help the Latias as it was trying to fight off the noxious chains that were trying to hold it down…

Were the chains causing this to happen without warning? Such terrible power…

Never mind if the same rolling feeling in his stomach was back, he would have to bear it just to get more information about what was happening!

Wind and rain tear through the trees as makes a dangerous advance into the woodlands of ROUTE 119. He's forced to take cover behind a tree when a WEATHER BALL comes howling his way, uprooting the flora before exploding into a misty wave. Remerging from behind his cover afterward, the prince trudges forward toward the BRIDGE.[break][break]

The sight of FEEBAS in the rushing river below it, eating away at CRUMBS OF TOXIC CHAIN, is a disturbing one. They all scatter, however, when the BRIDGE suddenly collapses. At a loss for how to reach LATIAS now, Remiel considers summoning a Pokemon that can fly. Then, thankfully, one presents itself:[break][break]

He'd met LATIOS earlier during one of his first POISON PATROLS. Now it seemed much more worn and worried than before, desperate to see his mate healed from her affliction. Offering the royal his wing, the dragon takes off the moment it feels the royal's hands grip him. Together, they soar above the rushing white waters and reach the grassy clearing where LATIAS lays.[break][break]

Forced to keep his distance, lest he be hit with a stray TOXIC CHAIN, Remiel releases LATIOS from his grasp and summons his SINISTCHA, CHATAROU. Only then do they begin the process of healing with LIFE DEW. When all is said and done, however, LATIAS hardly spares any time to thank the Sinistcha before zooming off with her partner.[break][break]

Wicked winds whip against flesh with withering woe, Xenon's tailcoat flaps in the storm violently as she observes the Latias from below. She of course does not know it as such, she can only observe the legendary she doesn't know the name of and note its violent actions as the toxic chains on its body constrict painfully. But that's not what interests her. What's far more interesting to her are the side effects of its thrashing and flailing, slight chips of poison chain flaking off into the river below and floating downstream where waiting Feebas feed on the poisonous substance with eager mouths.

Feeding off his anger, Lugia takes advantage of the TROPICAL RAIN, loosing a violent HURRICANE toward the pair.[break][break]

Knight panted as he finally caught up to Loot Guard. Once he had spotted the Ranger, he knew it was probably a good idea to stick close by in a situation like this. [break][break]
He was soaked to the bones thanks to the tropical rain and, despite whatever heat was in the air, he shivered from it. Kay pushed back his wet hair out of his eyes and looked at Loot Guard, "This is bad, isn't it? Like, really bad. That's a Latias..." Hey, the kid might not remember his Rotom Phone, but he knew his legendaries.[break][break]
"Careful, that bridge looks--" There's a groan, followed by a creak and Knight yelps, jumping back, "Okay, we need to hurry and get the bridge evacuated. Perrin, go up and keep an eye from above, Fitz, let's help Loot Guard as best we can!" Despite how confident he sounded, Kay had a throbbing headache and the world around him had a bad habit of spinning.[break][break]

The rain is harsh and heavy - almost too much for Akero to fly. And yet, the Togekiss persists - because the particular pokemon affected is a worrisome one.

A Latias has fallen ill from the Toxic Chain - and El's heart twists in seeing the way the worried Latios flits about. "You need to keep your distance - or else you'll get sick, too!" They call to the counterpart - or at least try to, over the howling winds. "It'll be okay - I promise - but we need you to be safe, as well!"

They pray - hope upon hope - that the duo will be able to leave safely. They see the way pieces of the Toxic Chain rain down, and they just know that it's an ill portent...

Latias? Is that what the red one was called? Legendary Pokémon being affected by the Toxic Chain was pretty much the worst case scenario, so they had to do something and quick!

One of the errant balls of mist struck the nearby Weather Institute, shattering one of its windows. "The people in there might've gotten hurt! Let's go help them, Barron!" Andrea said, as she rushed inside the building.

For all the things this Toxic Chain had affected, this was by far the scariest. To think a Legendary Pokemon could find itself a victim of it. Johanna didn’t want to put any more thought in it. Instead she simply focused on helping the poor thing.

Or rather she watched and guarded herself against the TROPICAL RAINS while her Gengar tried to weaken the Legendary Pokemon through a combination of HYPNOSIS and SHADOW BALLS. Even if either proved to be very ineffective at the moment.

Luckily they weren’t alone as plenty of trainers. It pleased Johanna to know that the people of Hoenn would come together like this in time of need.

if the legendary latias snared by noxious chains didn't make for enough of a bad omen, the harsh tropical rains cascading over them would. trainers who weren't dressed for the weather, like petra, found themselves soaked to the soul - a most uncomfortable sensation. her shoes squished with every footfall, and don't even get her started on the icky way her shirt was sticking.

The weather was being relentless while Latias was out, darting around in reckless abandon. The Latios that followed ran past with a speed that made Thea's ears whistle as she clenched her hands against her ears. "Th-That is way too dangerous..." Her lips pursed, and her eyes narrowed trying to spot the flying Pokémon. She was way too fast to keep up, and the Tropical Rain that was showering the whole area wasn't helping with the visibility at all.[break][break]

As Thea neared one of the bridges, the Latias struck it, and she had to leap to the nearest rock to use it as a cover for the rubbles that were sent flying at her general direction. She snatched her Minccino with her arms dragged her along to protect her, while her Wigglytuff did the same with her Primeape, that wasn't really agile. "Belle... Are you okay? Gominha, Zeus, did you get hurt?" She asked to her Pokémon, but in general they seemed safe and sound.[break][break]

Slipping a sigh, Thea was suddenly surprised by small crumbles of the Toxic Chain falling on the ground. She leaned in, trying to look it closely before Gominha pushed her face away, shaking her head. "Y-You are right, Gominha. These things aren't safe to get near." She smiled faintly, ruffling the Wigglytuff's hair before turning to peek from behind the rock. The whistling from Latias and Latios air piercing speed were still around, but they were increasing once again. The Feebas eating some of those Toxic Chain crumbles didn't seem like a good idea either.[break][break]

"Alright, this is our chance! Gominha, Zeus, you two try to do something about Latias' Chain. Belle, come with me and be ready to help any of us, but stay in a safe position."[break][break]

With the plan prepared, Thea and Belle rushed ahead toward the lake, trying to stop the Feebes from eating the crumbles, with Belle chirping frantically while using her Helping Hand to help Thea to shoo them away. Meanwhile, Gominha and Zeus prepared to attack as soon as Latias approached rapidly.[break][break]

Gominha beamed with her Disarming Voice, while Zeus picked up a piece of rubble and Seismic Tossed it toward the Latias. The voice and the rubble struck the Toxic Chain, helping to damage it further... But it also made the Latias lose a bit of balance, making her hit the bridge and severing its structure. Thea's eyes widened at the situation, quickly grabbing the Feebes and yelling— "Belle, RUN!" The Minccino jumped startled, trying to pick up a Feebes as well before darting off with her Trainer, a moment before the Bridge collapsed completely, sending rubbles and water at every direction.[break][break]
