"You should have obeyed," Barnaby chided while clicking his tongue; swiftly, he'd then staddle Jack before he could collect himself enough to stand.[break][break]

"But surely you'll give me what I want now." In this position, the man's arms were pinned to his sides by Barnaby's legs. Even if he struggled it was unlikely he'd be able to get free.[break][break]

With this in mind, the ROCKET admin unsheathed his combat knife.[break][break]

He lightly trailed the edge along Jack's jaw.[break][break]

Meanwhile, BARNABY FINCH used the distraction to lunge forward, free hand open to clasp Neffatari Nzingha's arm and spin her around, pinning her to the cavern wall. [break][break]

"This is a battlefield," He replied lowly, leaning into the crook of her ear. Intimately, uncomfortably close.[break][break]

He'd hold her if she struggled, tightening his grip on her arm. And after a moment, where he allowed her time to process her new reality, Barnaby brought the point of his knife to the side of her neck.[break][break]

"If you want to leave here alive," He continued, sounding almost pleasant in the way he threatened her. "Tell me any League intel you possess. How to enter the mountain, what's inside. Something valuable that's worth your life."

Immediately, Barnaby released his CHARIZARD to retaliate. And when he witnessed Aurelie Lefevre crumple in fear, he MEGA EVOLVED the dragon to compensate for the loss of backup. [break][break]

"Get it together!" Barnaby growled, his voice barely restrained as he reached for her arm within the mass of SABLEYE. He was not exempt from their greedy touch; claws raked at his arms, tearing the tough fabric there and scoring the skin beneath.[break][break]

He managed to drag her clear, giving his CHARIZARD an opportunity to release a concealing SMOKESCREEN. In the confusion he'd attempt to escape far enough into the mist, where the SABLEYE were less likely to follow.[break][break]

When there was a moment of reprieve he'd lean her back against a large stone jutting from the earth and level her with a searing, unnerving gaze.[break][break]

Though the mask concealed his face, there was no mistaking the cold anger in Barnaby's eyes.[break][break]

"Steel yourself, Aurelie." The ROCKET admin warned, his voice ominously low. [break][break]

"Or you won't make it out of this mist alive." Whether he meant by his hand or the mist creatures' was eerily uncertain.

A word rang out in his mind, quiet at first, but growing louder and louder.[break][break]

The dream. Or the nightmare, really. What more appropriate place to manifest than within the Interdream Mist itself?

As sickly purple flames sputtered from his CHARIZARD's gullet, Barnaby urged the beast on, closing the gap between it and the SALAMENCE. [break][break]

In doing so, Lyune's claws struck the broadside of the dragon's haunches, scoring painful grooves through thick hide. In response, Lucien roared in agony, but quickly whipped around in the air to jettison a THUNDER PUNCH toward its enemy.[break][break]

BARNABY FINCH did not call his CHARIZARD off its attack to escape. At least in close quarters freya morningstar was less likely to use one of her ridiculous arrows.

No shit. To BARNABY FINCH, Navy appeared as a petulant child here to upend all their tireless work. He was an annoyance that needed to be crushed beneath the heel of Barnaby's boot.[break][break]

He and his bear. As quickly as they'd fallen, Puck's LEECH SEEDS sprouted from everything occupying the deck, drawing energy from the URSHIFU and even Navy himself. It vitalized the SHAYMIN, who remained flying overhead.[break][break]

In the wake of Shuwen's incessant punching and subsequent rending of metal, Barnaby released a Pokémon that could better deal with the URSHIFU on the ground. From its capsule emerged a huge TANGROWTH, its tentacles undulating menacingly around it. In an effort to halt the destruction the Vine Pokemon extended its tendrils out in a POWER WHIP to slam into it's opponent.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Barnaby vaulted over the bridge railing, landing ceremoniously to the deck below.[break][break]

"Hello, Navy." He greeted in an eerily calm tone, purposefully using the Gym Leader's full name knowing full well the man's preference for his nickname. He remembered this piece of information from the file ROCKET kept on all notable LEAGUE members.[break][break]

"I wonder," The ROCKET admin continued, brandishing his combat knife from its sheath and twirling it in his hand as he took one step forward, then another.[break][break]

"Are you as good a fighter as your Urshifu?"

Before Barnaby could be harmed, he released his ARCANINE to TELEPORT away from the crumbling cliff face, leaving the ALAKAZAM to scramble out of the way as best it could. Unfortunately for it, however, the Psi Pokémon was knocked out by an errant boulder to the head.[break][break]

With his STEELIX acting as a giant 'Isaac's over here, come get him!!' sign post, BARNABY FINCH rematerialized near where the ROCKET defector stood. He wasted no time in brandishing his combat knife and surging forward, intent to kill.[break][break]

"The hard way." There was no other way. Isaac Merlo had been such a giant pain in his ass, creating an even bigger pain in the ass in Caleb Harcourt, that Barnaby saw no avenue for compromise. [break][break]

ARCANINE braced itself close by, fur bristled, as it surveyed the area for enemy Pokémon to counter while the two men fought.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Quartz was staunchly engaged in battle against Isaac's BLAZIKEN; it took the hit from the bird's SKY UPPERCUT, reeling back from the pain of it, before slamming into the ground to release its own EARTH POWER.

Feeling marcus kotov's gloved finger trail down his torso, Barnaby reflexively tensed, but otherwise didn't react, even when the KIRLIA's healing energy began to pervade his being.[break][break]

"Both." Flashes of jack wainwright and freya morningstar came to mind, among others. He'd been a part of so many confrontations already.[break][break]

Now that the adrenaline was beginning to wear off, an immeasurable tiredness had started to seep into every muscle of the admin's body. He couldn't remember the last time he rested over the past twenty-four hours.[break][break]

Without waiting for the doctor's assent, Barnaby eased into the nearest chair, wincing slightly as he did so.[break][break]

"How have things been on your end, doctor...?" He intentionally trailed off, hoping Marcus would share his name, at the very least.

"Perhaps there's a rift somewhere below the mountain." Beneath the Tera Crystals and past the HEATRAN, where Interdream Mist could slowly leak out. [break][break]

"Clear the way." A dark-scaled CHARIZARD was released onto the field and immediately MEGA EVOLVED.[break][break]

Though they'd never fully escape the mist, at minimum the CHARIZARD could at least drive it back enough for them to navigate forward.[break][break]

Ahead, the ROARING MOON loomed, still preoccupied by the ROCKETs taking shelter within the cave.

As they pushed forward, Howard's AERODACTYL kept watch over them from above, while Barnaby's MEGA EVOLVED HOUNDOOM led the way on the ground, using its massive body to cleave through the mist. Where directed, the beastly canine went, acting as a shield against any potential enemies.[break][break]

"You've created a map already?" Barnaby commented with a curious lilt, glancing over howard slayte's shoulder as he consulted with the tattered swath of paper. [break][break]

"Impressive." They'd barely been on the island a full day. Perhaps his companion was more of an asset than he first appeared.[break][break]

"How much of the island have we covered so far?" We being ROCKET, of course.

With a smack to the GLASTRIER's shoulder, BARNABY FINCH suddenly galloped forward — through the LEAF STORM, letting his steed take the brunt of the damage. Cuts began to appear along its chest, its flank, its hindquarters, but the pain only seemed to encourage it more.[break][break]

Its hoofbeats pounded against the earth like war drums, echoing off the swirling mist.[break][break]

Within seconds they were upon the enemy and, in one fluid motion, Barnaby vaulted over the back of his horse, legs held together in an attempt to jump kick jack wainwright square in the chest.[break][break]

GLASTRIER positioned itself between them and the TORTERRA, boosting its IRON DEFENSE as a barricade to stop any interruptions by the Continent Pokémon.
