AT THE END OF AUGUST, A GENERAL MEETING SUMMONS THE A.Q.U.A. INITIATIVE to the Pokemon League in Ever Grande City. It is a regularly scheduled assembly—not one conducted in specific response to region ending meteoroids or invading Megalopolans. However, there are a plethora of issues plaguing Hoenn:

the ever present threat of Team Rocket, the presence of Ruinous Legends such as CHI-YU, the DRK TRIAD and their warnings of ANOMALIES & the ORIGIN POINT, Sea Hoenn's vengeful armament, or KYUREM and the missing HOOPA. There are far more scourges surrounding the League, but when resources are stretched thin and danger points its blades from all sides, what must be focused on?


Furthermore, security has tightened due to the events conveyed in 's RONDEZ-VIEW OF LUV ROUTE: a lethal attack from CHIEN-PAO. A security detail including and have been situated around the perimeter of the Pokemon League, with other bodyguards present within the room.[break][break]

Curiously, the earth seems to murmur and groan; odd vibrations crawl up the Pokemon League's walls...



THE SETTING


THE MEETING IS HELD IN 'S ELITE FOUR CHAMBER. Paths connect guests to a suspended battling platform. Stage lights douse the deep blues of the arena with their glow, but they are dimmed from their usual luminescence.[break][break]

A round table has been moved to the platform's center. Bodyguards are stationed around the room too, though their figures are concealed by shadows cast by the walls.[break][break]



Commissioner HAS NOT ARRIVED YET; however, coffee and refreshments are set off to the side should anyone desire a quick snack or beverage before the meeting begins.[break][break]

Notetaking papers and pens can be found around the table, and a slim device rests on the table's center: a holographic projector.[break][break]

SECURITY


SHOULD , OR EVEN THE HBIC'S DESIRE, they can make a SINGLE POST of their characters commenting on comms about the perimeter around the Pokemon League's building/outside of 's E4 Chamber being secured.[break][break]

They will not find anything suspicious; however, the feeling of unease may not easily be shaken.

large meetings weren't ollie's forte. ironic, considering he had been instrumental in setting up their last ranger assembly. but that had been different — that had been on his home turf, with his rangers, where he felt comfortable. but now he was head ranger, and there were a hundred more responsibilities on his shoulders.

[attr="class","illeana i"]she arrives shortly after , trailing behind him through broad chamber doors. lights paint shadows across 's chamber, stretching in places she can't see. it's unnerving, she realizes with a quick sweep of her eyes, and she feels the faint prickling of skin against her back.

the last time a full assembly was called, she nearly lost it all. no matter - the worst has already passed... hasn't it?

anxiety lingers in the body, nestled between nerves and bones to make a happy little home out of her body. she is used to the sensation by now, the uneasy feeling twisting her stomach up into knots.

thankfully, is walking sunshine - much like , actually - and the sight of him begins to quell her nerves. so much so, in fact, that she settles into the seat beside him.

"hey!"

one leg folds delicately over the other before she flashes him a small, warm smile.

"how's the new job treating you?"

the exclamation was forced enough to sound fake, but fake enough to sound natural from kyle, who always makes it a point to be sarcastic around his peers when he can afford to.

kyle walks up to , with a cup of coffee from the lobby coffee shop on his hand. a gym leader doesn't explicitly have to be around, though they weren't barred either.

"did you really want to be involved this time, or do you have some sort of noble reasoning instead?"

he takes his sip of coffee as he chats up one of the meeting's security officers instead of going in. he still has time, he supposed, given that majority of the invited party aren't in the venue yet.

besides, it's better to be the last one so he doesn't experience the anxiety of choosing his seat. it's much easier to have other people pick it for him instead.

it's not or that sees next emerge through the doors and into 's chambers. she wears a mustard yellow blouse tucked into tapered cream slacks. a belt cinches at her waist. teardrop earrings and her choker are her only adornments, but the former feels a bit much. 

she hasn't dressed for this position in years. 

nevertheless, her gait is confident. her jaw is set, head proud. once she sees the two in the room, though, they may notice her visibly relax in the slightest. her smile is small, but it's there all the same as she takes a seat across from the two early birds. 

"illeana. ollie," she says by way of greeting. the dratini curled over her shoulders looks curiously at the two, fins fanning slightly. she offers, after illeana's question, "congrats to you, morales. well deserved."

Callan arrives soon after , waving to and before entering the sliding double doors.

He catches 's remark about the lighting just as he enters. "Too bright?" He queries, smiling. "Alexa, turn the stage lights down 50%." The chamber's lighting would dim down to a more comfortable level of brightness.

The floors had been replaced with tiling, the center of the battle stage had a meeting room hosting it. But it was still his chamber, albeit instead of facing trainers, now they were to discuss matters of regional security.

He walks over to Illeana, squeezes her shoulder and offers a smile. "Glad to see you're feeling better." He states, before seating himself down by the Commissioner's planned seat.

"A lot of new faces and a lot of old ones as well in this meeting." He adds, shortly after Freya's congratulations, "How is everyone doing?"

Isolation is a woven blanket of shattered frost, clipped and sewn together. Through it's transparency, it becomes nearly invisible to those who gaze through it. Only the one who dons it's grasping pale fingers could know the full extent of it's bite.

EVENT



THE LAST COUNCIL MEMBER TO ARRIVE IS ONE WHO NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION. everyone in the room knows his name. most, understand the weight behind it. no matter how much they may despise the man behind it, they too much acknowledge his contributions. who else has lasted thing long?

in that same vein, he knows them all. each name has been properly vetted. read with an intimacy that makes speaking to them seem wasteful. as if there is no merit in watching a movie that has already been spoiled. their history, an amalgamation of past interaction and current reports, is a far more concise synopsis than the small talk that tides the wait for the commissioner.

so he spares them nothing when he enters unannounced.

the scowl eagerly awaits, a look of comfort she subconsciously seeks—whether she admits it or not—has been eroded by a mid-life crisis. instead, a yawn covers its tracks, carelessly slipping through his fingers as he approaches their dainty little catering.

the fading red stripe behind him shows no modest at the offer of free food. a seasoned hoenn trainer can identify a camouflaged kecleon well before its tongue snaps open. the crunching sound of scones overshadow the amount of cream cheese fernando spreads across his bagel.

he makes sure not even an inch of real estate remains exposed. greedy in all the worst ways.

[attr="class","angelomain"]It was hard to distinguish on sight whether this was Angelo’s maiden voyage into an AQUA conference or his hundredth, for the pilot walks into the room alongside with all the relaxed confidence of a seasoned skydiver before the jump.

Unconcerned he was casually dressed compared to the growing crowd in a t-shirt and jacket, a patch of Nautica’s gyarados logo stitched proudly onto the arm, he greets the familiar faces already gathered. “Mornin’.”

Beyond that, he doesn't hover making small talk. Keen sights set on a carefully spread selection at the back of the room.

“Gonna see what their coffee is all about. Want one?” He asks Skyler, gesturing somewhere opposite the reserved seat before he slips off. “Save me a spot.”

Leaving her to commandeer them a good place at the table, he goes about taking advantage of the complimentary beverages. Priorities.

is already at the refreshment table, drowning his bagel in cream cheese. He had the right idea. Not about the choice in topping mind you, just the resource exploitation.

Soon the scent of (acceptable, he supposed) coffee fills the space as Angelo fills a cup.

“Pilfer their coffers, Angel.” The faintly amused encouragement is breathed against his ear. “Bring me their treasures.” And by that, she means an appropriately strong drink to get her through this ordeal. Never mind the tiny flask kept on her person for this particular purpose - emergencies only, she’d told herself.

Arceus, she hates meetings. Passionately so. Even - no, especially if it’s one she has technically signed up for. She only has herself to blame.

As Angelo breaks away to peruse the available refreshments (she halfway hopes he turns invisible and robs of his bagel), Skyler makes for the central table within the grandiose chamber. She beelines towards the chairs across from Dahlia’s reserved seat. It’s like she’s been here a thousand times before, shoulders relaxed into easy confidence.

“Mornin’.”

Ah, ’s here. She gives him a playful salute. Other people the captain knows mill about, engaging in small talk while Skyler herself claims a seat for herself, and another for . She kicks back and rests her boots on the nearby seat, taking up her fill of space and then some.

“Which apocalypse are we diverting this time then?”

"if i go in, i'd be obligated to stay until the end of the meeting." he takes another sip of his coffee, which he wasn't even aware was available inside. "no bagel for you."

it's more about the social pressure than anything. he'd left in the middle of one before, although there's seldom any upsides to it. their spice of life was always present within its walls, after all.

"i got you next time though," he assures . "well, maybe not the bagel, but still."

he finishes the last sip of his coffee, crumpling the paper cup with his hands.

"and yeah, don't be shy. you can always admit that you actually want in," he teases. "i can get you a pass if you just ask. it's really fun, and there's free food."

he looks at the crumpled cup on his hand. "shit, i forgot they also serve coffee." he has wasted money buying his own from outside.

his peripheral counts the people passing by. he still has time to clown around as long as he wasn't the last to come in.

Was he really, legitimately going to step into the figurative Pyroar’s Den with his little… ‘situation’ still not handled?

Apparently he was.

To be fair he was already at the end of his rope on how to rein in the… uncooperative Mirage, having already resorted to taking trips to the Border in that strange place between realities to look for answers—and yet, here he was.

(To be fair, he’d already been at Callan’s little Elite Four room before everyone started arriving; he’d just gone out for a quick vape. Or what he thought was a quick vaping session.)

Unfortunately, though, he saw that was already surrounded by Illeana and Penelope… wait. His brows furrowed even more at the sight of the other redhead.

(Why, why did cousin have to leave the Council before this meeting?! At least she wasn’t going to be witnessing the insanity that he was privy to whenever meetings like this were called.)

Upon seeing outside, he then tilted his head in the other man’s direction—they would have to talk later. Hopefully after this meeting.

Anyway. He then slipped back inside, stopping by to grab the tallest cup of brewed black coffee the Keurig on the table could spit out, and a plain, lightly-salted bagel as well before heading over to the only other place he could plausibly see himself taking a seat—next to Callan himself.

Never mind if he had a rather strong vanilla-flavored scent hanging around him. He was clearly stress-vaping again.
