“Winning is beside the point, the main thing is we tried our hardest and won’t end up regretting this later,” he hummed as he followed the other to the starting line.

He was sure the Greninja would serve as a fine guard to the other Pokémon he’d left behind.

“Oh, speaking of which—I didn’t catch your name, sorry,” he apologized as he was handed the sturdy rope so that they could tie one of their legs together.

“I’m Alexei, but please, Alex is fine too,” he went on, introducing himself as he tested the rope and made sure it was sturdy enough to handle the both of them.

With so many people lined up and ready to go this was going to be a great race! After all part of spring was growing closer with your peers and what could be closer than a three-legged race? "Alright! Runners ready? On your mark! Get set! Go!" With the sound of the whistle going off the runners could begin their race, hopefully with little to no accident.

For this round the winners are once again determined by roll! The top three teams will win grand prizes with everyone else winning a minor one. Both competitors must roll at the bottom of their posts and the COMBINED score of your rolls will be the total for the event.

If you did NOT post at the starting line but your partner was kind enough to drag your character over you are still full fledged able to participate, do not worry. You can use your bonus items on this event.

Feel free to use the environment and work together with your partner. It's about having fun after all.

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]Despite the odd choice in nickname Adrian had suddenly attempted to come up with and use in conversation, that caused his sister to raise an eyebrow at him in response, and the dry and curt introduction he gave following, which almost had Serena sigh out loud, her brother seemed to pick up on hits. Whether knowingly or otherwise.

While Serena didn't mind sharing with her brother.....scratch that, she minded, she figured it was polite to offer but it would be even better to decline. Which is what Adrian did as he pulled Rowan closer to him. Nodding with understanding in her gaze her calm features suddenly melted away at the joke Rowan followed up with. “So, you guys on a date?” he asked nonchalantly. Serena almost chocked on oxygen since the question made her inhale sharply.

For the first time that day a deep crimson spread across her cheeks as she glared daggers at her best friend who was seemingly enjoying watching her squirm. She'd pay him back for that. “I’m just kidding, you don’t have to answer that.” her quickly added on but his eyes and deviant smirk still showed the cheeky bastard was enjoying this a little too much.

That's when she noticed someone approaching Rowan from behind. Curious she watched the exchange, almost gloating once it was his turn to be embarrassed. Karma was often a bitch but she was also swift. Turned out the new arrival was an old friend of Rowan's. At the introduction Serena nodded her head in greeting briefly before turning her attention back to Rose. Placing her hand gently on the small of her back she leaned in close towards her ear to whisper. "Let's get out of here while we still have a chance too." she said as she flashed a wink at Rose.

Not wishing to interrupt the reunion she and Rose passed by the the trio, Serena tapping Adrian on the shoulder before leaving. She didn't want anymore embarrassing interactions to happen while she was there. Not to mention, she was starting to grow hungry. The announcer that invited them all to the egg hunt now changed pace with an offer to participate in a three-legged race. It wasn't Serena's style to get sweaty. At least not like that. So she decided she would pass on this little mini game for now.

Rose softened up greatly as Rowan and Adrian spoke, Adrian not wanting to join them and eat to keep himself from puking rainbows. A good excuse if he wanted to eat everything here. Then Rowan asked if they were on a date. Rose's face lit up red, her finger twirling around a strand of hair by her face. Maybe? She didn't know what label to put with this kind of thing. Rose was just a wee bit red, while Serena gave Rowan that glare.

There was a look to the side to Serena, before Rose merely retorted. "Might be." She was playing a little coy, a curve up on her glossy lips in a knowing smirk.

Another newbie came in. Lilith, to which Rose gave a very small wave, until Serena pulled her in for a whisper. A chance to get out of this situation? Gladly. Rose would quietly follow Serena after running her hand through her hair.

Instead of doing the three-legged race and getting this outfit she painstakingly spent hours on sweaty and gross, she elected to keep her clean. Let someone else run and win. Maybe a more intellect-based game would be for later, so she could properly show Serena she had every intention to win against her. Playful competition.

"They seemed like a nice couple." Rose commented, returning towards Snapdragon, who was busy eating the dish Serena had made for her, shoveling it down, as she looked up with glee in her eyes. Rose responding with a bit of disgust.

A staring contest between the two, as Rose squinted. Snapdragon would sweat. I'm watching you, you little shit.

"Hey. Nice to meet ya," he tried to offer genuinely, though he wore a thin smile and the look of apprehension. Meeting so many new people was awkward, even for him.

But oh well.

Luckily for Adrian, the next game was starting up soon, providing a suitable distraction that even Rowan couldn't overlook. "Yeah, let's go." He'd wave to the others dismissively, heading off towards the next event in earnest.

A chance to show off? Pfft, easy choice.

That said, images of Rowan being dragged behind him as Adrian sets off at a brisk pace were... teetering at the edge of his mind, giving him pause.

"Just remember, it was your idea."

Adrian and Rowan would head towards the starting line, provided a fixture with which to bind their legs together. Before all that though he made sure to limber up, stretching low at the knees into a prone position, alternating between either leg until he was satisfied.

She braves a smile as the man kneels down to tie their legs together, and she is thankful for the distance between them and the general uproar of the crowd to hide the fluttery feeling in her chest that settles hot in her face.[break][break]

Avery's hand is tucked into his own before she really has a chance to realize what's happened. But now she's close, super close, and he's holding her even closer. Even if it's unintentional, she can't help but dwell on it. Breathless, she continues to hold his hand as they hobble their way to the starting line.[break][break]

She can feel her heart thumping noisily in her chest, so loud she's sure he could hear it. That's probably impossible given their height difference and how loud it is all around them. But her anxiety remains unshakable and she stares straight ahead, suddenly terrified.[break][break]

And then they were off. She knew because their united leg lurched forward further than she expected and she gasped, clinging onto the man attached to her hip with renewed ferocity. Panic sets in but she holds fast to his sturdiness, literally. [break][break]

as the starting gun was off kazimir's legs nearly propelled him forward like a rocket, dragging Stormy Silph along with him. for a second he almost forgot that this was a race with partners and quickly slowed his pace as soon as he accelerated. "didn't startle ya did i? sorry guess i got too into the zone here. but c'mon storms we can't let anyone beat us. we're the power couple here!" his energy was boundless and already he was starting to pick up the pace and try to outrun everyone else, even if he had to tow stormy behind him.

everyone else around them seemed to be having fun. the stress was off, and it was easy to get lost in the slice-of-life things in this event since, for once, nothing was blowing up.

he's too engrossed on a conversation with Melody Miro, entertaining topics that he somehow was mildly interested in as well, when they realize that the race has already started.

"oh shit!"

kyle starts to book it, briefly forgetting the strat, until he hears it from melody's humming. he tries to make things work in a split second, matching her pace with the music, and then trying to get his feet to coincide with the rhythm.

In the end Razz has absolutely no say in the matter of the three legged race, not when Skyler's face lights up in a way that is quite familiar to those who know her and which usually preludes some sort of ridiculous (and at times dangerous) situation - for everyone involved.

The picnic is forgotten for the time being, left behind in the dust kicked up by the captain's bare feet as she strides purposefully towards the starting line, all but dragging Razz behind her in her enthusiasm to participate. Still, she does make a mental note about his mention of - the new place?

Huh.

Curiosity niggles at her, thought it is quickly smothered by the fierce fire of competition when other people come into view. "Simple. One of my legs is tied to one of yours and we have to - run like hell. Preferably without falling." Silver gleams brightly, high on adrenaline and excitement as her muscles tense - ready and restless.

"Go!"

There is no preparation, no warning.

Laughter bubbles forth from her lips, boisterous and carefree, as the captain does her best to align her pace with Razz's. But if she can't? Well, that's easy: she'll just pick him up.

Locke thought the pale man was putting a bit of a weird emphasis on not regretting the race, but decided not to worry about it. He was right, after all; there was no need to stress about winning when everyone was just trying to have fun!

“Locke,” they responded cheerily, stopping to polish off the rest of their brionnee soda before getting ready. They started moving as soon as the race began, and immediately found themselves struggling to compensate for Alexei’s much longer gait. They attempted to readjust quickly, trying not to weigh down the older fellow.
