[attr="class","aurelie_body"]The Mantine surfing had done one thing for Aurelie that nothing else up to this point in her life had made her do so far: regret that she'd never pursued gymnastics or ballet, the way her mother had wanted her to do as a child. When her mother had tried to take her to classes and clubs for each, she'd disliked being ordered to flip and jump around when she didn't want to. She had endured it for a few weeks at most, before refusing to ever go back. Now, though, she wondered if the grace, flexibility, coordination, body control, and strength that either of those aesthetically pleasing yet undeniably athletic pursuits would have given her would've helped with pulling off the elusive Magikarp Splash.

Maybe, maybe not. No one could know how things would have turned out. But it was enough so far to make Aurelie repent of her temper tantrums against her mother when she was young, at least.

"I hope you're nice to your mom," she told her Mantine with a chuckle, or mother figure, or whatever. And let's hope this upcoming wave is nice to us, too."
