Oscar tended to stay away from Meteor Falls, he was a dragon trainer sure but he never felt invested in whole 'Draconid' lore or whatever. Yet rumors began to abound that something odd was happening at the Draconid Shrine hidden deep within the falls; apparently some pokemon that visited recently obtained incredible power! Just by being there! That was a slap happy good deal if Oscar had ever heard of one, and he knew just who to visit with.

"You feel anything yet?" Oscar had chosen to visit in the dead of night, when other visitors were less likely to appear. Genesect stood beside him, staring up at the shrine blankly before realizing that its master was speaking to it. Genesect shook its head, it had yet to feel anything. Oscar sighed, "Well keep trying I guess. Shit I did not think the shrine would be so picky."

Moments passed, and eventually Oscar would snap his fingers. "I know! Dragon tamers love meditation and shit, try turning off you hud and clearing your thoughts." Genesect did not know how to clear its thoughts, but it did turn off its hud as directed. Nothing happened for at least a minute--but then...

A DRAGON!

Genesect sprang awake, startled by the sudden imagery. Oscar became very excited, "Did you see something!?" Genesect hesitated, unsure what had happened. Eventually it would nod. Oscar clapped his hands, "Fuck yeah, let's go home and see what awesome dragon shit you go!" The two ran off, both very interested in the gift they had recieved.

Ruby didn't believe in the stupid idea that ringing some bell would magically make things better. She did, however, have reason to believe the rumors that the shrine could bless Pokémon with the ancient wisdom and, more importantly, power of the Draconids. So even if she didn't carry some New Year's wish in her heart or whatever, she still braved the cold, rough waters of Meteor Falls on a gargantuan Gyarados's back.

[break][break]She needed more to survive, to finally carve out her niche in this world. More what? She didn't know for sure, but more power was always a good thing. People with power shaped the region to their desires and trampled on whatever and whoever they wanted in the process. If Ruby could have even a little bit of that, she could stop getting hurt. She could stop losing the things important to her. Maybe she could even gain something for once.

[break][break]Those were the feelings in her heart when she rang the bell in that shrine deep within the falls. Dratini, Bagon, and various other cave-dwelling Pokémon turned to look at the sound. Behind her, Tiamat felt the power of the Draconids coursing through her.

Much of Elinor’s time had been stolen by work. And yet though she might be one of the later visitors, she still took the time to visit the old Draconid shrine.

Much to her surprise the shrine accommodates Pokémon of every size. This she learned through experience as she had brought one of her Steelix’s along for reasons unknown.

They both approached one of the ceremonial bells and rang it.

And Steelix was immediately filled with Draconic power.

Lix the Steelix is trying to learn DRAGON HAMMER and forgets THUNDER FANG.

Why Thomas hadn't visited the shrine earlier, even he couldn't answer for. But here he was, braving the whirlpools, and other hazards of the area, on the back of his faithful Flygon, in order to reach the bell.

Despite not being superstitious, Thomas closed his eyes as he rang the bell. "Here's to hoping for a year of better results.", he whispered. "For both myself, and Andraste Breathnach."

It had been just recently that Mars had found himself discussing the uniqueness of Meteor Falls with freya morningstar. Now, here he is again, visiting the shrine that is as if the last standing vestige of the Draconids that had once inhabited in this cavern.

It's not belief that had led him to this place, his own beliefs are much different than those of the people of Hoenn.

Perhaps simply the Unown-? that wanders nearby, unseen and disguised, watching the swimming Dratini and the Bagon whose Salamence mother probably dwells nearby. Mars sees what it sees, and he also sees the bell before him.

It had been a long time since Josh had been behind Meteor Falls' big waterfall. The last time he had been there was when he unsuccessfully went hunting for a Bagon there months ago. He would be surprised to hear rumors of a Draconid shrine back there now, surrounded by chilly water that only the hardiest Dragonair and Kingdra dared swim in. Yosei flew ahead of Josh, who was mounted on Alphamax, his Garchomp. The Salamence gave Josh a visual indication as to where the secret waterfall cave was, the dragon rider bravely guiding his swift Pokémon through.

On the other side was indeed a small shrine not unlike the one under Blackthorn City, where Josh had been initiated as an honorary Blackthorn Dragoon years ago. While there was no presence of the Draconids within, there was a scroll for Josh to read, not dissimilar to the scroll Josh read to Resheph to teach her the Sacred Arte of Extreme Speed years ago. On this scroll was another such Sacred Arte: that of Dragon Hammer. To his surprise, Josh still recognized the Dragoons' ancient language. While he stumbled through the scroll's words, he was able to read it all the same. Ancient letters hung around the Garchomp's wing-blades, the mystic knowledge now passed along to the next generation.

"Alphamax, use DRAGON HAMMER!" Josh cried. With a loud cry, the Garchomp raised his arm, slamming it onto a small pillar near the altar and pushing it almost all the way into the floor in a single strike.

The hum of buzzing wings echoed alongside the roaring waterfall within Meteor Falls, Shalin having heard rumors of a Draconid shrine not unlike Blackrhorn's appearing. After hearing from Josh Devlin of its nature of passing on the Sacred Arte of Dragon Hammer to Pokémon other than Exeggutor and Tropius, the only two Pokémon known to learn the powerful move naturally, she had to make a special trip to the waterfall to find out more!

As she investigated the area around the waterfall, she had come to a bit of a conundrum: the waterfall was so large that there was no way her Beedrill or her Flygon could fly through it normally to get to the secret entrance, and her Milotic couldn't jump high enough to get into it, either! The only option she had was drastic, and perhaps even painful. She wouldn't know until she tried, though. Directing Sandy to the waterfall's edge, she put her earplugs in, grabbed onto her Flygon mount, and prepared to hold on for dear life.

"Sandy, use BOOMBURST!"

The Flygon's wings loudly shrieked, completely disappearing from how fast they were beating. Even with her earplugs in, the discharges from her mount's wingtips reaching supersonic speed were loud. The tremendous wind from her powerful and rapid wingbeats split the waterfall long enough for the two Pokémon to enter the secret tunnel, but Shalin was throbbing all over her body. Vibration that powerful was way too disorienting, even for her.

It did not take her long to locate and enter the Draconid shrine. Within were several waist-high pillars and a scroll on the wall, in the ancient text of the Draconid people. She withdrew Sandy, leaving her Beedrill as the only Pokémon occupant within. Ancient letters lifted themselves from the scroll, surrounding and eventually imprinting themselves on the bug-type's three stings and passing on the Sacred Arte.

"Queen Zing, use DRAGON HAMMER!" Shalin cried, looking to test the new technique out. The Beedrill hovered above the pillar and raised her abdomen as far as she could before slamming it into the ground at full force. It was a terrifying-looking sting that made even Shalin shudder.

Much like the Kindlers, the Draconids are a topic studied by anyone and everyone who even considers obtaining a history degree in Hoenn. Lia had researched them at length at during her undergrad days, and even recently she had passingly discussed their civilization when venturing into this same cavern system in the company of FERNANDO SILPH and Locke Jamison. Naturally, that conversation had taken a much different turn, but much of what was said back then rings in her mind when looking at the shrine.

"You know, Otto... Records show that the Draconids had incredible power. Some even say this shrine still possess some of it." She muses out loud, speaking to the huge Pidgeot that now stands by her side, having grown tired of flying in this enclosed space. His wings are golden, as is his flowing crest.

"How about we pray for a good year, hm? That's probably not much to ask."

In Hoenn? It might just be.

Still, Lia pets the bird-of-prey she has come to adore, then clapping her hands in a heartful prayer to the Draconids.

new year, new me, as what people say.

priam decides to be a better man this year, and that meant being poggers as fuck. that's his wish, and while it's always possible with little to no effort, he'd rather teeter to the no effort part.

unfortunately, the road to that path wasn't 'no effort' at all, and priam didn't take into account the travel to the shrine deep within the mountains, but they got here!

once in front of the shrine, priam took pictures to commemorate his achievement before a monk prompted him for proper decorum. only then did he make his wish.

a shrine deep within meteor falls is not what jayden is expecting when he's investigating a bunker nearby. still, it seems to draw a fair amount of attention from the locals so it's worth checking out. the admin steps around the rare dratini and bagon that linger at the interest, marking them in his memory, but heads towards the center of the shrine.

[break][break] while he's never considered himself that much of a superstitious person, he supposes there's no harm in praying to the spirits for the new year. especially with the year they've had.

[break][break] putting his hands together, jayden gives a bow and makes one in his head before stepping back.

[break][break] he allows his GOLETT to swing the hammer, the bell ringing through the cave.

? (apparently defaulted to ‘the cranky dedushka’) / male / prankster / rain dance, hurricane, extrasensory, dragon hammer, tailwind, bleakwind storm, 🌪️ Stormbringer’s Celerity

And here he is, still trying to achieve some kind of… commune with the djinni that accompanied him. Why this one was silent as compared to the one he met before, he didn’t understand, but—

He rather liked the talking djinni from before. He just couldn’t understand why this one was so… strange, quiet. Hushed.

(Maybe he hid secrets?)

Seeing as he was one of the last visitors to make the trip to the Dragon’s Den, he came at a time when most everyone had already departed—he wondered if his friend was going to make the journey too, as a last-minute side trip.

Once inside, he was accompanied by the Wandering Stormbringer no less, him looking around at the solemnity of the entire place. Maybe, in some other universe, he was a Dragon Tamer or something like that.

(Seeing as he had quite a lot of draconid Pokémon, this was a possibility.)

After he’d approached the bell, he then came to a quiet stop and made a quiet little wish.

That somehow, he’d survive this year—and what came afterward, with his better half by his side.

Even the shrine keeper was surprised to see a Tornadus among the Pokémon that paid a visit, but there you go.
